Pre op and 8 months post op pics
myrori replied to myrori's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Amanda, Anything exercise is all new to me. I went an rented a bike early spring just to see, and it was love at first ride, went back to the bike shop and treated myself with new, very expensive bike! No shopping around I deserved it! I bought the bike in March and in June I rode my first Tour de cure 38 mile bike athon! Would I consider myself proficient? Not by any means compared to the serious lean machines that pass me. But from where I started, a damn site better! It is very freeing and exhilarating! I can not not run, I have a knee with no ACL and no cartilage, so girl if you can run and swim, biking is NOTHING! Thank you to the rest of you for your kind words! -
What is the one significant thing in your life that you can do now...
myrori replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Walking for 2 hours and adding hills to it, going up and down the same one a few times, just for the excerise. My PROUDEST feat so far, Riding in my first bikethon,, completed 38 miles! Super proud of that! Biking almost daily 20 miles. Joining the Y and looking for HARDER classes instead of the easiest. Buying a tshirt at the concert, having to a get a medium instead of praying the 2x would fit! Gettting fashion types from daughter and buying clothes in the same store she does:) Needing less sleep. Most importantly: putting on a swim suit and going to a pool, or Water resort with my Grand Babies! I acutally tucker them out now! -

Please Advise about odor
myrori replied to SmokyMtnGal2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I noticed as I lost weight I had wild shifting hormones! When I have a hormonal upset going on my deoderant quits working. I have to start washing with antibacterial soap, then before my I apply deoderant I apply rubbing alcohol to my underarms and let it dry. Then I apply clinical strenght deoderant. It seems these boughts lasted about 2 weeks and settled down. Now that most of my weight is gone my hormones are settling into a regular routine. -

myrori replied to Bitties's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
water, water, water. body shock! I know it sucks to see those numbers! however your body is not ridding itself of water or toxin( anesthesia, pain meds, anti nausea, you got it all in the hospital) You will be happy in the days to come! -
do you have pain anywhere, knees, back? Blood pressure elevated? High cholestorol. Surely the doc can find something and resubmit:)

1 day post op... is this normal?
myrori replied to alma95's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
completely normal! Does get quieter and less frequent over time! It is just your new tummy saying HI! -
at 8 months my sleeve still talks to me all time. I asked the doc about it and he said it is a forever thing. Good news it it talks less. and softer over time. Think of it a audible indicator of your new tiny tummy that will serve you well!

I have never liked water before or after surgery. It just does not go down well period. My current love is Diet Raspberry Snapple ice tea and Lipton diet White tea Raspberry. I look at this way, it has water in it and it has antioxidants!

How come I'm so nervous???
myrori replied to irish princess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no way to fail the sleeve unless you do something like eat Mcdonalds shakes 8 times a day and have Ice Cream on top it! You have made the decision to have major surgery and I and that is a huge hump to get over. Once you go through the coming weeks you will commit your mind to health. You will see you did not go through all this to put a bad thing in your mouth! I strongly suggest support groups, in person at the 2 to 4 week mark. More than anything I believe your fears( we all had them in one form or another) is your subconscious expressing fear of change. You will do fine tomorrow and in the coming months! Congrats! -
Low carb/no carb alternative to fav foods?
myrori replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in Food and Nutrition
I bought some Dreamfields and they worked for me like regular Pasta and the appealing thing to me is that you can buy them most anywhere at a regular price. I as so looking forward some real spaghetti and sadly, even at 8 months Noodles do not work for my sleeve, no rice, no breads. It is like instant FULL for me and uncomfortable! No I made the cauliflower pizza and that gave me the italian sauce fix I so badly desired! -
Being Critical of My Body
myrori replied to june13sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have issues when not clothed As far as the arms go,, I started working them out like crazy with push ups, hand weights and yoga. No they are not perfect but then look a damn sight better than they did! They look fine when down and I figure how often do I lift them? At the beginning of summer I kept looking at clothes and thinking I cant wear that, I can't wear that, I can't wear that. The one day I said SCREW it! I did not go through this process to continue to be ashamed of me! Now I wear sleeveless shirts all the time! -

Desperate for support from my Husband to have VSG
myrori replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off, weather or not you have surgery. YOU ARE STILL LOSING WEIGHT ON YOUR OWN! It is a tool, how many times in his sports has he used aids that make his game better or a splint or brace? With that said, my husband has never been against the surgery, but he has never been the least bit supportive. Now even if he was against it, it would not have stopped me, I am too head strong and IT IS MY BODY to do what I want with. I think he more scared of you changing then dying and he projects on the procedure itsself. Chances of dying are really low, and while it is a major surgery, it also a very basic procedure and a fast one. -

Give me A typical day of eating!!!!!
myrori replied to Dud2Stud's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Untill recently, without fail my day would start with a Preimeir protien shake! In the last couple months they are no longer attractive. I get up 5 to 530 , normally for the first 7 months I would get up and have a protien shake first thing after weighing in. Then for a snack I would have a greek yogurt around 930am,,, still do without fail! For lunch it is chicken, Chicken and more chicken, usually left over from the night before. (look up 1001 and ways to prepare chicken). Sometimes, not very often I would have a second yogurt. Now almost never. dinner is usually more chicken of some type. Sound boring right,,, but believe me after time you will stop caring what you eat Just as long as you put some food in there, it is no longer and important thing. (making high protien, lean choices are). Stock up on things like beef Jerky, turkey sauasage bites, baby bell cheese ect. Protien and Calcium and your Vitamins are your best friends! Oh and water! -
Went to a Jimmy Buffett concert and had to get a MEDIUM tshirt! Me the woman who always prayed the 2x would fit! OH and I danced like NO ONE WAS WATCHING< I Sang like no one was listening!

Those with over 100 pounds lost - did you lose your bat wings??
myrori replied to sychadelic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not entirely, but they look better the more I work my arms. (Yoga, hand weights and push ups off a table or such) Now you really only see them when I pick my arms up totally. -
