They took me off my pain pump tpday after clearing the upper GI and I was doing real well till tonight when phlem got stuck in my throat and while coughing it feels like I blew my diaphram out and they had to call the doc and get my pains increased. 6. I had looked at the band initially, but after reading about all the "side effect" and the damage to folks esophagus and the erosion it took me no time to choose the sleeve. I am on my way to the hospital now to get it done!

    Need a pep talk, PLEASE!

It is funny that just yesterday I was reading articles about living in foriegn countries and I came across this link: expatriate news I hope you find some comfort from the articles talking about acclimating in new cultures. I have to admit I would be hurt too if no one was coming and I was not invited to other goings on. When I am feeling left out of the loop I remind myself there are others in far worse situations. I volunteer at the holidays, it gives me so much to be thankful for.

    IT'S MY TURN!!!!

Best Wishes, I will be done tomorrow!
  11. I re-watched the show as I had recorded it and their "expert" just stated that some 50% fail. The woman they had on the show had regained over a hundred of the two hundred pounds she lost. The showed video of her eating this huge cheeseburger, not very flattering. Clearly she did not address her food addiction at all if she was able to get that much and kind of food down after bypass surgery. Can you imagine how much food must be going in if there is malabsorbstion still in play??
  12. I found Premier Protein shakes from Costco to be very tasty, rich and smooth. You can also order them from amazon. You get 30 grams of protein per serving. Also as stated above the no flavor whey protien mixes well with pudding and yogurt as well as hot cereal providing you let it cool to the package's stated temperature to add protein.
  13. I too love BBQ, but I consider it one of my "trigger" foods. By trigger I mean I just want to eat and eat it if I it is around. A couple other foods for me like that is Tuna salad, egg salad, choc pudding and especially SO good BBQ oh and spaghetti. So I try to avoid having them all in the house or making them. My question is does anyone else have this problem too? If so how has the sleeve helped you or not helped you or does that all go to the wayside afterward as there just is not room for too much of your trigger foods?
  14. Tiff, if being your twin makes me look as good as you do now when all is said and done I will be happy to accept that title

    Want Details!!!!!

I had to attend a seminar, next was the first Doctors appointment where they did a H Pylori and Vitamin d level (personally I think it was just to make more money on the visit). Next was a Psych Eval, when that was approved then my insurance had a lady calling me doing phone coaching addressing eating habits, weight loss progress and emotional issues. A sleep study was ordered and when then a visit with a pulmonologist who did testing and reviewed the sleep study. He asked if I had ever had a stress test but decided from my test results it was not necessary. After he cleared me I had to meet with a nutritionist and attend at least one support group meeting and an abdominal ultrasound and I then got the date! My pre op testing at the hospital included an EKG, an Upper Gi and Chest xray. Now, two more sleeps and I will be sleeved!
  16. You have my permission to sock him one! Congrats on the achievement!
  17. My Surgeon is Dr. Paul Guske, from The Kane Center, a center of excellence and my sleeve will be done at St. Alexius in Hoffman Estates IL. Kane Center St Alexius Medical Center

    Nausea, ad nauseam

Don't any of the doctors send folks home with anti nausea meds???? There is suppositories and Phenegran Syrup. I am going to ask for some.
  20. Thank you NtyTxn, I had one of those very moments at 3am last night too! Except my anxiety is coming out in the form of worrying about money. I am taking a month off and my disability will kick in at 2 weeks and I have the first 2 weeks covered with sick and vacation time, but I get up and worry about "what if there is a lag time between the last check and the disability check, ect ect ect" So tonight it is Benidryl before bed! I will be at the hospital on Tues with bells on! They maybe jingling with all the nervous shaking going on
  21. Cauliflower pizza ingredients 1 cup cauliflower, grated 1/2 cup shredded light mozarella cheese 1 egg 1 tsp oregano 2 tsp basil 2 tsp parsley 1/2 tsp fennel 1 green pepper 1 onion 1 tomato Garlic powder, to taste Directions Chop pepper, onion and tomato. Set aside. Steam the cauliflower, let it cool and then grate it. Combine grated cauliflower with the mozzarella and egg in a large bowl. Spray a circular or rectangular metal pan with cooking spray before spreading the dough evenly. Sprinkle the dough with fennel, oregano, parsley and basil. Add garlic powder. Bake at 450° F for 12-15 minutes. Remove the dough from the oven and sprinkle chopped green pepper, onion and tomato, as well as the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Return the pizza to the oven. Turn the heat up to broil and leave in until the cheese has melted and the crust is crispy. Flaxseed and Wheatgerm chicken Tenders Ingredients 6 breasts of chicken tenderloins 1 carton of egg beaters 1/2 cup of ground flaxseed 1/2 cup of wheat germ 1 tsp of Cajun seasoning 1 can of non-stick cooking spray 1/2 cup of ground almond meal (optional) Dry seasonings (garlic, onion powder, chili powder, paprika) to taste Directions Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray. In a small bowl, combine about half of the egg beater carton and cajun seasoning. In a large plastic ziplock bag, combine the mixture of wheat germ, ground flax seed and/or almond meal. Rinse chicken tenderloins with Water and vinegar, pat completely dry; excess water will prevent the chicken from becoming crunchy. Dip chicken into egg mixture, and put chicken into ziplock bag to shake with crumb mixture. Place pieces of chicken tenderloins on greased metal cookie sheet so that they don’t touch. Spray the top of the chicken with just a little of the cooking spray so that it will crisp. Bake for 30-45 minutes until the chicken appears to look like real golden fried chicken and chicken juices run clear. There are some really healthy recopiesDr OZ there, check them out!

  23. Weird, I had the Psych office calling me for an appointment within 2 days. I would call the PPO ask for and administrator and have them set up an appointment while on the phone with you. If your PPO won't do it like that request the same of the referring doctor.
  24. Hmm my doc said the drain would not hurt, but I have docs lie to me before. HOWEVER I had my gallbladder out the the old way 20 years ago, HUGE incision with 2 different drains and honestly even the foot long drain did not hurt, did feel good, but it wasn't painful coming out. But just in case I will save some of my pain med for just for my one week post op and take it right when we pull up to the office
