Question on amount of liquid consumed
myrori replied to TLang262 - Texas's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am six weeks out and I really don't think about how much anymore. I know I can't get in near as much as I used to. I can take 2 swallows of liquid no problem. As far as food, I get in about 4 bites of chicken and it is all over. -
I too had a really slow start, thought I was going nuts! Then all of the sudden off it came, 2 pound one day, 3 the next, same for a day or two then 2 come off. No rhyme or reason.

75 pounds gone and my husband says this to me........??
myrori posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been losing since Jan of last year, 50 lbs before surgery and 25 since and tonight my husband says to me : " You are making me look big" I was like excuse me? I am making YOU look big???? No Sir I told him, YOU are making YOU look big by being big! and then I shut up. Then I got pissed! I was said in all this time of losing weight that was the closest thing you have ever said to a compliment and he responds to me with "I have never judged you for your size and I just don't notice your size now." I replied "You had better get to noticing before some other man does! -

Well Steve I happen to think that fact that I have been working hard for a year now and this is the very first thing he say EVER, and how MY weight loss makes him look, I do believe that is mean. I see no compliment what so ever in it. -

The pain can be pretty intense the first 24 hours, but they give you drugs to control it. After 24 hours I would say it slightly less than my Csections. I would guess if they cut you from ovary to ovary you have a pretty good idea what a csection is like.

Short Term Disability
myrori replied to Diamond-n-the-rough's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My short term disability was from Aflac and some IMRF (state employees fund) and they required a note from the doctor that it was medically necessary for the surgery. My doctor said yes without a doubt. I also filled out FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) to protect my job in this economy and also to get the surgery on my schedule and not my job schedule. -

Anything that contains Aspirin or say Non steriodial anti inflammatory is a no no 2 weeks before the surgery. It thins the blood. A list of common drugs that are NSAIDS: NSAIDs : non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs Aspirin (Anacin, Ascriptin, Bayer, Bufferin, Ecotrin, Excedrin) Choline and magnesium salicylates (CMT, Tricosal, Trilisate) Choline salicylate (Arthropan) Celecoxib (Celebrex) Diclofenac potassium (Cataflam) Diclofenac sodium (Voltaren, Voltaren XR) Diclofenac sodium with misoprostol (Arthrotec) Diflunisal (Dolobid) Etodolac (Lodine, Lodine XL) Fenoprofen Calcium (Nalfon) Flurbiprofen (Ansaid) Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Motrin IB, Nuprin) Indomethacin (Indocin, Indocin SR) Ketoprofen (Actron, Orudis, Orudis KT, Oruvail) Magnesium salicylate (Arthritab, Bayer Select, Doan's pills, Magan, Mobidin, Mobogesic) Meclofenamate sodium (Meclomen) Mefenamic acid (Ponstel) Meloxicam (Mobic) Nabumetone (Relafen) Naproxen (Naprosyn, Naprelan*) Naproxen sodium (Aleve, Anaprox) Oxaprozin (Daypro) Piroxicam (Feldene) Rofecoxib (Vioxx) Salsalate (Amigesic, Anaflex 750, Disalcid, Marthritic, Mono-Gesic, Salflex, Salsitab) Sodium salicylate (various generics) Sulindac (Clinoril) Tolmetin sodium (Tolectin) Valdecoxib (Bextra) Note: Some products, such as Excedrin, are combination drugs (Excedrin is acetaminophen, aspirin, and caffeine). Note that acetaminophen (Paracetamol; Tylenol) is not on this list. Acetaminophen belongs to a class of drugs called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). The exact mechanism of action of acetaminophen is not known. Acetaminophen relieves pain by elevating the pain threshold, that is, by requiring a greater amount of pain to develop before it is felt by a person. It reduces fever through its action on the heat-regulating center of the brain. Specifically, it tells the center to lower the body's temperature when the temperature is elevated. Acetaminophen relieves pain in mild arthritis but has no effect on the underlying inflammation, redness and swelling of the joint. Paracetamol, unlike other common analgesics such as aspirin and ibuprofen, has no anti-inflammatory properties, and so it is not a member of the class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs. -
I did a search and did not come up with an answer. When can you have salad again???? Out of all things out there, I am craving salad!

Welcome! I am 6 weeks post op and I can tell you I have never been happier! I love the freedom from food and hunger the sleeve gives. I am now in control! You have a great motive there with your son. -
2 thumbs up for Wii Fit Plus here! I really like the step program and how it weighs you and tells you how many calories you burned for how long!
-
You look amazing!

I can't speak to the effects of hunger from plication as I had the sleeve. I can tell you that hunger is a thing of the past! I love it. I do sometimes get a sense I should eat something, but NOTHING like before, 4 or 5 well chewed bites and my new tiny tummy tells me that I am done! I fully satisfied with that amount of food. Best of luck on your decision.

If I could do a pre-op diet....
myrori replied to ThatDudesMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The carb monster is fighting you! Stick with the low carb a few days and you will be surprised at how much better it gets. Also, you need to cut out carbs to be successful after surgery. -

What are the symptoms of a leak?
myrori replied to Rootman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is an exert from another post: I am one of those who developed a leak "just because," although it was probably surgeon's error as it was in my esophagus, away from the suture line. We found mine 2 weeks 2 days post op, i felt great up until the day I developed a 104 degree fever, and had EXTREME Pain in my left side (worse than childbirth pain). I went to the ER twice - after the second time, they did a CT scan and found the small leak. I developed sepsis, my entire abdomen was infected and I had to have 3 more surgeries to clean it out and fix things. -

$500 non-refundable fee ???? Are you kidding?
myrori replied to former_vbg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My guess it is there way of weeding through those who are serious. Can you imagine the hours put into the insurance calls, talking to pts and all the paperwork? I wonder what the actual percentage is of those who start the process and then walk away???
