  1. It sounds like your blood sugar ifs dropping. Try adding some diluted apple juice to your sipping schedule every couple of hours.
  2. When I first started looking into WLS I too keep thinking of the risks, as a matter of fact I focused my searches on it. I read some scary stories, but then I read so MANY MORE amazing stories! I then had a really long look at the potential risks of staying heavy, and those risks far out weighed the short term surgery risks. Simple fact was I could stay heavy and die slowly from high blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes or I could have surgery. I have had 4 sections, 3 leg operations and my gallbladder out prior, so I figured my chances of surviving this surgery with a good surgeon had to be better than if I stayed over weight. It is very normal to worry about complications and risks. At some point your path will become clear to you.

    Share your favorite ALLRECIPES links!

No link, but last night I made some Healthy Parmesean Crusted chicken and brocholli in the the George foreman. I was cooking for the family so adjust accordingly, 3 Chicken Fillets 1/4 cup Italian bread crumbs 1/4 cup Parmesan zest of lemon, or a packet of real lemon 1 tsp of olive oil Mix the above in a bowl with a fork until it pack nicely Put the chicken in the george foremen that has been seasoned with EEVO and then spoon on bread crumb mix and pack it down, Bake for 25 minutes or until 170 internal temp add Broccoli when 15 minutes are left.. I use the George foreman Evolve, it has a deep dish plate and tilt it forward so that any oils run away from the chicken. You can also do this recipe in the oven.

    Should I tell my dad??

For the life of me as a parent I can not figure out why he would not be happy that you are getting healthy. You are saving yourself from a life ridden with illness.
  9. Yes it does say greek yogurt on the lable. It is thicker and has twice the protein. You can get other uses for yogurt ideas at Stoneybrook.com or just google yogurt uses.
  10. I have never been a "Normal" weight in my life, and I have had a lot of people asking me what I want to get down to after my surgery. I honestly don't know. When I search average I see things anywhere from 135 to 162. I told one person I was thinking 150 and she said there would be nothing left of me,,, really???? I think she was a nay sayer because she went on to say why are you doing things, you have lost so much already and look great. I am like, look great at 225 pounds??? I am 5 foot three, I started this journey at 271, I am down to 220 and my surgery is tomorrow, any any ideas of what "normal" is?
  11. YES YOU CAN!!! it is a small price to pay for a life of health!
  12. You will know if you eat too much, you will have pain and pressure and possibly vomit. So no you are not eating too much. There is a whole new set of feelings to learn with your new stomach. Are you taking an acid reducer?
  13. My reasons for the sleeve over band: Band had slower, less weight loss I did not like the idea of something inside me I didn't like the idea of having to for fills The idea of food flying out of my mouth from "Productive burping" was not something I was willing to live with More and more people are having complications with the band and needing more surgeries. I wanted to be able to take anit inflammatory and eat foods like salad and veggies.

    Vitamin D deficiency

Doctors are finding Americans are deficient in Vit d at alarming rates. I was tested before my surgery in a regular check up and had to be tested again before the surgery. Normal is 125 and I was at 13 the first time I was tested. The second time before surgery I was above normal. I had to take the Mega doses also, after 4 weeks I started taking vit d everyday from Puritan Products in addition to sitting next window in the afternoon a couple times a week. Be sure you get your vit k as well as fish oil in as it helps the body absorb the D3 better as well as some zinc.

    WHY ME???

I am 7 weeks out and I am not allowed red meat yet, nor do I want it. Same with Pork, they are very hard to digest and I am protecting my new stomach. Rice, bread and pasta are things of the past as I did not go through all this to go right back to the bad eating habits. I don't want to just lose weight, I want to eat healthy too.

    WHY ME???

Bread is not on the post op diet. I get you wanting it, but say good bye for at least a year. You should be limiting your carbs to 30 a day. My typical day goes like this, Protein shake for Breakfast, greek yogurt plain with sf syrup for snack. Some type of lean meat and a veggie for lunch. A low sodium V8 for a snack and then for dinner lean meat and a veggie. If I need a snack at night it is usually a piece of cheese. Read the labels of everything, you would be surprised where they hide carbs.

    Do you sleep hunger free?

Never, hunger now is not the same. Sometimes I have to remember to eat. When I do get "hungry" now it more like some sense I should get something in. The old drive to eat is gone
  19. Wow, that journey tired me out! I have to say you are persistant where many may have threw their hands in the air and gave up. Congrats, I know you will succeed!

    New Here Need Advice!

My doc recommends 7-800 calories. To tell you the truth I am not happy with my weight loss rate. I have heard upping calories can help you loose weight but I really don't know how to get in more calories with out bad carbs or fats and I just cant eat that much.
  21. I had a cath for 24 hours post op and truth be told I am glad, cause I could not have gotten up all that quick to go and ALL those BAGS of fluids in , meant fluids out On the down side of it, a male nurses aid came to take it out, I said ahh no offense but please get me a woman

    kinda gotta lie!?!?!?

You know I had the same issue, and the more I thought about situations and the amount of "white lies" I would have to tell, I decided to just put it out there!! The amount of support I recieved far out weighed all my worries! I was not going to say anything at work, but then one person knew than another, so I just hit head on and told everyone who asked exactly what I had done. That stopped the gossip right in its tracks. One of the cops came up to me and asked if I was losing weight, and I was like 'AH yeah, only 76 pounds now" and then went on to explain 50 before surgery and 26 since. He was shocked and and said well you are looking good! I think he was more embarrassed that he had not noticed the amount, but I forgive him, he is a man after all I am 7 weeks post op and except for work I have had only one experience with someone asking me how I was losing weight, and since the two other people in the room already knew I just said I had WLS and he said good, and then went on to talk about what he was going to do about his slight weigh issue. I think how people react is simply in the confidence you present the information with.
  23. I read somewhere on here and I can not find it in search about a person who ate pineapple post op and it did not digest and had to be removed? I think it had something in it that could not be broke down post op, are there other foods to be weary of?
