I have drinking these shakes for about a year and suddenly they changed the formula in the last month and they HORRIBLE now. If you got the new ones and don't like them please take a moment to call them and tell them!

    PBing or Vomitting after sleeve?

For me it was that one bite too many also,, no gut wrenching just the bite that was too much slid right on out and OHHH the relief!
  6. Hurray! Just the boost you need at this point!
  7. Make sure you contact them and let them know. The only way to make them change is to hear from MANY consumers!
  8. First off let me tell NOTHING about this is easy! It is very hard work to get ready for surgery and make it work after surgery. I have been overweight all my life, I have a lifetime of failed diets. Part of it is will power, however I really firmly believe that there is more to obesity than is known. Why could I eat the same things as "normal" person and still be fat? Why can a bean pole of person pack away the food in epic proportions , never exercise and never gain a pound? All I know is the sleeve has given me the ability to control my portions and NOT BE CONSTANTLY HUNGRY or thinking about my next meal. For reasons we don't know yet some of us need the extra help. The surgeon told me that the sleeve is actually a very simple operation, only about 40 minutes long. The risks for the sleeve are far less than the complications from the lap band complications long term ( erosion and scar tissue, need for re surgery and low weight loss)and far less risky than gastric bypass both at surgery and long term with nutritional deficiencies and strictures developing. Husbands tend to be more scared of the change in you than the actual surgery. They get all paranoid that they will somehow not be good enough for you if you get skinny. I had to tell my husband over and over that this was about my health and longevity than about being skinny and attractive. Have him read some of the posts here and present him with figures of risk from your doctor and reassure him you want to do this to LIVE!

    Approved!

chicken broth, any waters, any non calorie clear drinks like Crystal lite, diet Jello.
  10. Well if I eat 3 oz of meat I am done for! Ask your doc what size sleeve he gave you. However, you are NOT going to gain weight on 3 or 4 oz of meat and a cup of veggies!
  11. Yes Please do call them!!!!!!!@!!888-836-8977 or write them at info@premiernutrition.com. Mention how the product is mentioned here, that seem to scare them a bit. They did not seem to know that WLS folks used their product. Less chocolatey AND bad after taste!
  12. May I ask how old you are? I just came from a 4 week stall after gain 4 pounds! I thought I would die! Anyway here are some things I discovered about the stall. 1. I was not getting enough calories in a day,, about 550. Since eating more is hard I added a Protein shake. 2. I stopped taking my Water pill, if you are dehydrated the body can not flush fats 3. I was not getting enough EFA's (essential fatty acids) Without them you can not lose weight. Efa's are : Omega 3s. You can find them in Olive oil, fish, flax seed or flax oil, avacado and fish oil supplements ( learn about the RIGHT fish oil supplements here Dr. OZ on fish oil ) 4. If you are over 40 talk to the doc about adding DHEA to boost your metabolism along with doing all the other items mentioned. 5. Are you keeping your carbs low? I strive for less than 50 a day.

There is a whole thread dedicated to what to bring to the hospital list here:What you will need . As far as getting ready for that liquid diet,, cut the carbs now so it does not hit you so bad when you start it. Stock up on all the clear liquids that sound good to you, they will be your savior.
  14. Can you give us some examples of your daily intake? I don't think we can really "stretch" our stomachs.
  15. I had soreness that far out on my left side, not horrible pain. They did tell me the incision on the left side had the deepest sutures and that was what I was feeling.
  16. First off, EVERYONE is different with pain. The good news is that you have a supply of pain meds at your beckon call in the hospital. I have had a lot surgeries and I only remember one sore throat out of all of them. I do not remember any tube in my throat ever, with the exception of the upper GI I had years ago when the twilight sleep reversed before the doc got the scope out. I personally do not remember recovery or getting to my room after the VSG . I remember periods of discomfort that were relieved by the pain pump I could press every 6 minutes and I got pain meds every 2 hours via my iv port on top of the pump. There is soreness afterward, like someone beat up the ribcage area and gas discomfort. Here I am 3 months later and I do not remember the pain in the sense of how it felt, just that I had some. The real question here is,, "Do I think the pain was worth it?" YES and YES I would do it again knowing the wonderful feeling of the weight coming off. In just 3 months I weigh less than I have since high school some 20 years ago! The nurses are a button push away, their goal is to minimize your pain, it makes their job easier and you very happy! I was nauseous a few times, each time they were there with anti nausea meds, they don't want you vomiting. Here is how my morning of surgery went: Got up and showered with hibilcens they gave me, did it twice to make sure germs were at a minimum. Arrived at the hospital around 530 am, checked in and was taken back to the surgical prep area. They gave me a night gown to change into had to be naked underneath and a cup for a urine sample for one last pregnancy test. Then I stepped on the scale for one last weight and then I got into the holding bed where they put little rubber nibbed socks on me and put a surgical hat on me and gave me a cough bear for post surgery and started an IV The nurses asked all questions times 2, (safety check) and then the anesthesiologist comes in and asked them all again. He asked if there was anything I needed and I told him I was getting really nervous and he said they are about to give you something in your iv and you wont be nervous very long. He was not kidding, because I don't even remember getting to the OR after that medicine. The next thing I remember is the doctor telling me it went as perfect a possible, I heard him but I could not open my eyes or answer. The next thing I remember is waking up in my room, and yes there was pain but the nurse was right there and gave me the pain pump button and explained it as well as an extra shot of med right in my IV and then I slept again till 3 o'clock that day.
  17. Wow, lucky you had dedicated people to be there for your surgery! I found it funny all the stores being run out of items. At the most we had was one day without access to the stores and folks acted like it was the end of life as we knew it.

    So confused

I am going through the process of being approved by my insurance company for the sleeve procedure. In the mean time I have joined weigh watchers and have lost 10 pounds. I have tried every diet under the sun and the weight has come back. Could it be possible that this time weight watchers will be the answer and that i will be making a mistake by having the surgery? I think the answer in your in very own words here, "I have tried every diet under the sun and the weight has come back". The problem is not losing it, it is keeping it off. I had a life time of failed diets, now with the sleeve I have not only a determination that has lasted for longer then any diet I have ever tried, I also have this wondrous new tool that controls how much I eat. I am so afraid of the changes that I will need to make after surgery. I am addicted to food. Food has been my best friend and worst enemy. I am afraid of what will happen when I want that food but my body can't have it. I am afraid that I will find ways to have my food and ruin my surgery. I really want to lose weight for my health and I don't want it to come back. How do I know if surgery is the right answer? Help!!!! I did a lot of the head work before surgery, I went on a diet, I researched proper nutrition, I watch Dr OZ and read his website daily and met with the nutritionist and talk with a counselor once a week. The sleeve has given me control over food, the abiltiy to over eat is gone and the obsessive thoughts about what to eat next and how much to eat are things of the past, the sleeve has give me control over food!
  19. Debbie, First click on someone ticker and then you will go to the ticker factory. Set up and save your ticker and it will give you an HTML script to copy and past. Copy that script and then come back here and click on the top of the screen where it says Signed in as Newme52, then choose settings from the drop down menu, from there choose the Profile tab at the top and when in your profile choose "change my signature" from the left side of your screen. Paste your HTML in the signature box and click save. A word to the wise once you save your ticker in the ticker factory,,, set that page as a favorite or book mark in your browser so you can go back easily and update your ticker. Don't forget to your new password!
  20. I get what you are saying about divorcing food. I divorced it about 8 months before my surgery, however my daughter who had bypass a few months before my sleeve did not divorce food and the emotional roller coaster was a rough ride for her. 3 days after her surgery I was cooking dinner for her kids and she sat and cried and cried. I could not relate at that point, I of course was supportive and hugged her, but really did not get it. After her experience I clamped down on my diet knowing I was headed for surgery and I was on a self imposed 800 calories a day or less, I was in training. I think that helped me immensely for what was to come after. However it did not get all the head stuff out the way. About a week after the surgery I found myself dreaming about all these foods and woke up to find myself making chewing movements with my mouth. It took about a day to set my head right after that. I wanted weight loss and surgery like nothing I have ever wanted in my life and had more commitment to succeeding with this surgery than I have ever had with any diet in my life and that is what has keep my head straight since the surgery,, I WANT THIS! and have not lost steam. Now how has the sleeve helped, it lets me eat only little bits at a time and keeps my satisfied for hours, so I no longer have to fight the head game of how much is too much, BUT I still have to fight to eat right and despite all the meetings with the nutritionists the most education of what and how much came right here from this very board. When I get down, I come here and read what I am experiencing is normal and passing. Special Kuddos to Tiff, I feel like I have learned the most from her!
  21. I think it comes back as you introduce more foods, kinda like when you have had a bad case of the flu and nothing seems good for a couple weeks. I think all the same things make food good to us are messed up after losing a good portion of our stomachs not to mention all those surgical meds floating around in our bodies. I am now about 3 months out and I have found that food in general is not big thing like it used to be. Once in a while I will get a taste for something,, like a couple of weeks ago for some reason I wanted fried pickles like no ones business, I had one and was done. My husband wants to eat out all the time and I have found healthy ways to do it,, LOTS OF chicken. However he always asks me where to go and I really don't care, I have no desire for the old stuff, my only stipulation is that it be a place where I can get something that is not fried.
  22. Congrats Kimme! Great to see that scale in the 100's!

When to go back to work?

I took 5 weeks. Could have I have gone back sooner physically? Yes. Mentally, I am glad I took the time. For me just eating or drinking at that point was REAL WORK and my job is stressfull and I know I could not have concentrated on it, so maybe physically it was a good thing to take the time too. At 5 weeks I still was learning what food would go down. On my second day back I was eating yogurt and some carl budding and I had to talk on the radio and did not chew enough. The meat formed a gate and I WAS IN PAIN! I had to wait for someone to take my place and I had to get rid of it. That happened a couple more times in the fist couple of weeks back. Now I chew and chew and chew and chew and have made an agreement with my co worker that if I do not answer the radio during lunch she keeps and eye on it because even now, while things are not getting stuck so much I find it hard to talk right after a swallow. It has been all about getting to know the new stomach and perhaps a bit of esophogeal spasm issue with the hard to talk thing. So it is a very personal thing about how soon. Personally I am glad I took the time to LEARN the new me, I think the old me never learned to listen to physical signals of when enough was enough or what was too fast when eating.
