high blood pressure and low pulse
myrori replied to mythreechildren2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am actually having the something simular. I was also off my meds for like 6 months, then my bottom number creeped up and I was put back on, BUT I am having episodes of rapid heart beat. I was also told the same, check pulse and bp and home and call if the heart rate remained high???? I asked what could cause this and the doc said Stress, which I am under a ton of right now or I have a family history of tachycardia. I refuse to use tranqulizers so I made an appointment to see see a cardiologist. It seems these day every doctor has his or specialty and they only focus on that. If the cardio guy clears me or puts me a med I will be happy with his answer but I am not leaving it with the General practitioner or Primary Care doc to decide. We need to be proactive in health care these days. I did not go through all this weight loss and fitness to die of a heart problem! -
Try EXCELLENT!

How long before you stopped losing weight
myrori replied to Loooou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a goal of 145, i think my body is stuck, done, finished what ever! Of course I bet if I had a tummy tuck and some sculpturing done I would lose that last 8 pound in the surgery room. I too have been playing with the same 3 pounds. I am almost 9 months out and down 118 pounds. BUT I do notice with exercise that their are body changes going on at the same time despite lake of scale movement. I need to learn to love me for what I am and what I have done thus far. -
Congrats! At 8 months I halved my bad cholesterol and triglycerides and double my good cholesterol Just proof of diet and exercise effects on your body!

Considering LapBand? READ this first...
myrori replied to Lanette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am truly surprised the band is still on the market! Considering they just go approval for lower bmi folks to get it I can assume there is big money and lobbiysts in DC that are pushing the band! I knew from the get go that I did not want a foreign object in me, nor did I want to deal with fills and sweet spots. Also you have to wait 4 weeks post op to get a fill. Who wants to to through WLS and weight to start losing?????? The band should be BANNED! -
i guess you could hold your breath while keeping your eyes closed here and there

Help! Need input and Advice!
myrori replied to AbacoRaveness's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your story and mine sound so similar,, came out fat, pcos, relatives who are skinny. I could not BE HAPPIER with the sleeve! My daughter had bypass and I have lost more weight than her! The sleeve is a tool that allows you to eat less and learn new habits. They bypass leaves a stomach pouch that you can stretch and the malabsorbtion ( as if that sounds appealing) only lasts about one year. The sleeve and new habits lasts for the rest of your life! -
Three Day sPost Surgery - Can't get anything down
myrori replied to Lisa Jo B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found warm tea to be most soothing. I especially liked all the flavorful smell of Tazo Orange tea (you can buy at store or starbucks) to be especially soothing to the stomach and to the mind. -
My guess she is scared of losing you and scared of change. Having a morbidly obese spouse myself I know his insecurities ran high. He only verbalized them once with the question "are you going to get skinny and leave me?" However as we change our eating habits and exercise habits it forces our spouses to take a good long hard look at what they are doing or not doing. She was comfortable with food and exercise abandon. If you did not care, then she did not have to either and all that feels safe and comfortable to her. What she is really fighting here is forced change and what she knows as comfortable and normal. Not for one minute I do not suggest you put off your surgery! We all come to face our reality at different times, if ever. I know it seems wrong that she not be supportive during such a major change in your life, but it realty at this point is about her feelings and not yours, right or wrong as that maybe. Stay strong, seek support via support groups and go head strong into your journey to health!

This liquid diet sucks!!!
myrori replied to gigi90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to drink protien shakes post op, that seemed to really hold me over. At first it was just real work to try and even finish one shake in a day with some water or juice added in here and there. i did find that spiced teas were both satisfying to the mind and stomach. Expecially Tazo tea, orange spice. You might try some of those tiny ice nuggets you get in drinks at gas stations with some sf torani syrup in it. You get sweet and crunch all at once. -
This Morning I was dyeing what is left of my hair to match my hair piece and feeling just a tad sorry for myself. Then as I looked at my hair all plastered against my head with dye, I stopped for minute and and thought how striking it was that I look much like my friends who are going through chemo. I have friend with breast cancer and one with ovarian cancer and have lost one to gall bladder cancer. Suddenly it put it all in perspective for me. I HAVE NOT LOST! I have gained health, energy, sexy, sassiness, ,athletic abilities, health, weight loss, life. REALLY what is hair compared to what my friends have lost?????? Not only have they lost body parts, ( very defining body parts) health, time on earth yet they go out and sport their naked heads without shame! How dare I mourn the loss of some hair when they have lost all theirs and so much much more!

I have been at the Chiroprapactor every other day this week due to a fall, first time since my surgery and the receptionist keeps saying how amazed she is and how "cute" I look. Of course I smile and say thank you, yet the first thing my head goes to is my wrinkely stomach and saggy thighs that make me want to puke. If only that forever skinny 23 yo really knew the hell I have been to, through and am in! I would not trade my weight loss for anything in the world except her body, but I the reality is I still don't forgive or love me.
