Thank you, sleeve (and Hawaii!)
myrori replied to ouroborous's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I envy you, Hawaii and weighloss? Not fair -
At first you cant get things down well because of swelling. You can manage a few sips here and there. By month 3 you are able to take whole swallows of liquids and eat about 2 oz of food at a time. Yes as with any surgery there is pain, but it is pretty much gone by day 4. Because I feel so totally full after just a little food I have no head hunger cause I feel like I ate a feast. I have NOT ONE regret excpet not having it done long ago/ Yes you can eat regular food fairly soon, but the trick is to make sure your new "regular" is healthy choices.

New to Site, trying to decide between sleeve and band?
myrori replied to ljdewitt123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Reasons I choose the sleeve over the band: Read the horror stories of people having erosion and slippage People not losing or regaining their weight Productive burping was not the least bit attractive to me I did not like the idea of a foreign object in my body Did not like the ideas of going for fills and knowing each fill would be followed by some pain and nausea. -
Did your doctor send you home on Nexium or something similar? I was sent home on it twice a day, acid or no acid.

I hear ya,,, me too. I have been lifting weights in hopes. My girlfriend had her arms and belly done after a year, so I think I will probably be doing the same.

WTF did I do to myself?
myrori replied to MustangAli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always found the 72 hour mark to be like a magic reset for the body. It seems on the third day after surgery things get better ( I have had LOTS of surgery). While you lay there, be kind to yourself and keep the long term goal in mind, no pain, no loss in this case:) -
Good for you! It is very important to listen to your inner voice. I too felt like a cattle number too in my surgeon's office. If he had not been so personable I would have changed doctors too. I would NOT recommend the practice to new people because of the lack of personal attention. I am going to see if my pcp will do my blood draws for vitamin checks in the future since I have been going to him for 20 years he knows me better than the guy who pulled my insides out.

There have been a "few" people who developed leaks here and I am sure they will chime in. From what I have read the recovery process was slow going. Sorry you experienced that, but it is really rare.

There are lots of hormones stored in the fat cells that are released when you loose them so things get out of whack.

You will do GREAT! You speak of the inner desire that one day wells up in us and makes its self known!

Does anyone ever feel like we took the "easy way" out?
myrori replied to Brian66's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Nothing about this has been easy. I am a slow loser and I fight for every pound while eating tiny portions. I spent hours learning about nutrition and incorporating the right foods into my life. I have to exercize even though I had surgery. I think the guilt we retain is from years of feeling guilty about something, usually the food we ate and the fact we were fat from it. We are so condtioned to feel bad about ourselves that when we do good we still find a reason to feel bad about it. If regular diet and exercise were the answer for everyone, then no one would be fat. -
Broke through my stall

AMEN! -
I lived with daily back pain and sciatica due to my l4 and l5 bulging. After 2 years of daily pain and bouts not being able to move I 100 percent advocate a GOOD chiropractor! Now when I though my back out, (which has only been once since surgery) he gets me moving in a day verses 10 days of muscle relaxers and and pain medicine. I also bought a mini tens unit from Austin Medical for 30 dollars, best 30 bucks I ever spent! I stick that on my back when it is bad it it blocks the pain signals to the brain ! It also works great for other muscular pains here and there. I walked around in pain for a year before I gave up and went to the chiropractor everyone at work was going to, let me tell ya,, I wasted a year of my life not going to him!

OMG,, you have lost over 3 hundred pounds??? You are amazing! That is 3 people you lost! How long have you been on your journey? -
Losing my Dad to a blood pressure related stroke kicked me in the butt to get the sleeve and I never fought harder or worked at anything more seriously in my life! Even if you have to wait a couple of months, it will all be worth it in the end!

Feeling betrayed and ANGRY. Advice?
myrori replied to Skinnyagain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is time for a divorce..... from his parents! You guys are Married ADULTS! There is no reason for them to have "meetings" to discuss your finances. Time for your husband to cut the apron strings. -
How to avoid the topic to new people?
myrori replied to buchannon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be just be open, if they run then they are not for you. The simple fact is being overweight will always be a part of who we were and if a guy does not like it or accept then they can take a long walk off the short pier. -
Only 2 pounds this month
myrori replied to Middlesister57's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Im right there with ya! I really thought the weight loss was going to be more and here i am at 12 weeks and just 33 pounds. The scale has been a cruel mistress this last month going up 4 pounds and taking a month to go back down 5 pounds. I keep following the guide lines, but that voice in the back of my head keeps saying is this it??? You had surgery for this? -
Getting a Surgery Date before being Approved from Insurance?

EVREV,, We have all been there. That little voice in the back of our heads saying do I really need this? What if..... I say to you WHAT IF you DON'T? No death would not be an imminent as it "might" with surgery, however surely the risks of staying over weight and gaining weight with out surgery will surely lead to a life with co morbilities and and certain death. I am 3 months out and I do not regret for one second the new control I have over food, it no longer rules me. I actually for the VERY FIRST TIME in the 40 years like what I see in the mirror. I no longer take 5 blood pressure meds, 1 sugar med, cholesterol or pain meds for daily back pain and sciatica. My blood pressure and blood sugar has been under control since the day I left the hospital. I have had only one back episode a month after the surgery. I have more energy than ever! We have had record snows this year and for the first time in years I YES ME Shoveled the drive, the back deck and THE FRONT SIDE WALK several times! I just ordered my 4th smaller size in work uniforms today and I am down from a size 24 pants to a 16! I hardly know the person I see in the mirror. YOU can do this my friend. I would be there is more risk to your life driving to work than surgery in a controlled environment with medical staff and meds all around you. I promise you, a month from now you will be psyched like I am and ohhh so proud of yourself.

I have bcbs il, but my husbands employer also has a say in the review. I did not have to do the 6 months diet before hand and once I jumped through all the hoops for the surgeon it and they submitted my papers I was ready to go in two weeks!
