What are you most looking forward too after surgery?
myrori replied to Beadingnurse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can now officially shop in the regular size sections. I am fitting in a 16/18. My goal is getting to understand how these smaller sizes work! I have been in plus size clothes since 9th grade so I have no clue how these junior/misses missy things work. I want to go scuba diving instead of just snorkeling. I want to go on a cruise and not be embarrased to to sit on the pool deck in my swim suit and go para-sailing and not worry about how fat my butt and legs look to the people on the ground, I want to do cave tubing in the Puerto Rico rain forrest and not worry how I look in an inter tube or that they will take my picture while doing it. I will stop avoiding every camera in sight and actually smile and pose for them. I have not been on a plane in a year and I look forward to seeing the belt fit with room left and the tray table to be able to come down! No longer fear turn stalls. In 14 more pounds I can go see my Primary care doctor for the fist time since this operation and I will be 100 lbs lighter than the last time I seen him! I look forward to playing at the slash park with my grand babies and not worrying about how I look and not running out of energy! The list goes on.............................................. -
6 months today since my life changed

Congratulations! Wow a whole family affair! I have to admit my daughter getting bypass gave me the guts (pun intended) to go ahead and have the sleeve. -
How long were you in the hospital?
myrori replied to sychadelic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed 3 days, I was suppose to go home on the second but I had a coughing spell that set off a esophageal spasm and I had to get pain meds just to be able to breath after that. Other wise I would have been home the second day. -
Please tell this is not a forever thing

I am 5 days post op, no matter what I drink or eat (jello) no matter how small a sip or large I get this pain. It happens about 30 seconds after I swallow. It feels like there is a large contraction in my abdomen the I hear a gurgle and the pain then dissipates. -
For the 6 weeks I had been stuck in this same few pounds, some days going up one pound then down, hover at 189, 190 Now in the last 2 days I went from 188 to 185! What a high! Just for those of you who are stuck, just know it will move and you are probably losing inches while stalled because even though the scale was not moving for six weeks I just had to order new uniform pants at work because they got too big during the stall.

I get so confused, I was told to eat my 3 meals have 2 small snacks. I was told that eating every 3 to 4 hours, just a little bit will keep my metabolism up. I usually get a yogurt in mid morning but I don't always get an afternoon snack in because I am full from lunch.

Threw out a pair of work out pants today. They were just plain huge and I am never going back there again!

Oh my goodness this is an old post, I am now just shy of 4 months post op and I had forgotten all about this! Needless to say for any of you newbies this is perfectly normal to feel and it goes away. I have 0 issues with drinking and eating now, well except that I burp more and my stomach makes noise, but no pain. -
Another disappointed bandster

I am sure Tiffikins will be along to tell you of her revision, look her up and read her blog. I seen one woman in her 70's at a post op support group and she had the sleeve. She used to be in a wheel chair and surprised the leader by walking in and out of the very big hospital! After your stuck episode did your doctor do an upper gi or any tests? Perhaps there is slippage or erosion or esophageal damage? If you have any of those condtions your insurance may pay for the revision despite your weight loss success. If you truly want the the sleeve revision there is a doctor in Mexico that people talk about on here that does self pay revisions, and I think there might be one in Las Vegas that is self pay. -
Congrats, I did not realize it till I read your post I am right in the same place with weight loss you are, I have about 40 or so pounds to go for 145. I am starting to wonder if I will stop there or keep going?

I have hear folks say never trust a fart early out,,, but I have had the exact opposite problem from Day one. I cant take enough miralx to keep me going! I had IBS before this surgery and lived on immodium, not being able to go is quiet a change and very uncomfortable. -

While it is true that some foods go down easy, especially carb laden foods like wheat thins, or a cookie,, or potato chiops if you binge you will get restriction still but you get more of the food in before that happens as it does with Protein dense foods like chicken or beef. Remember all our meals and Snacks should be based on protein. So far since my surgery in Nov I have one Christmas cookie and one day there were wheat thins at work I had about a hand full before I got restriction. I felt guilty as it is my goal to stay away from carbs during the losing phase. Remember the sleeve is just a tool,, not a cure to end all bad habits. We still have to make conscious choices to eat right. Every so often when I get the urge to much I think about the surgery and that I did not go through that to just eat myself around it. When I want to satisfy the crunch I go for a pickle or apple instead of the old bad foods. I don't keep any carb food in the house so that makes it easier not to give in. There has been ice cream in my freezer since my Dec for grand daughters bday and I have had no desire to eat it. I find myself craving greek yogurt instead of the sweet treat now. When I go out I tell the waitstaff to not put any bread on the table and if what I order comes with bread or potatoes I tell them not to bring it to the table. Having an appetizer of any sorts will ruin your out to eat experience as by the time your entree gets there you are basically full and then you have the disappointment of not having any room to eat. So when I am out with a group of folks and they want bread I just have them set it on their side of the table and if they want an appietiezer I will take one of what ever it is and make it last till my entree gets there. I prefer eating out with realitives as they dont mind sharing with me and that that works out hunger and money wise. I have been very open with my friends and co workers about my surgery and I think that keeps me in check when it comes to temptations because I know they all know my restrictions of bread and i have to start with protein for my meals, so I really think they would call me on it if I started eating the bad stuff again.

The husband was taking some clothes out of the dryer ( he does not do this often) and he pulled out a pair of my jeans and said "Who's are these" I gave him a funny look and said mine why? He said "No, way, they like Tammy's".. Now mind you, Tammy is his sister and she probably wears like a size 1 or 2. I laughed and said thanks, but I am no where near Tammy's size. He really was shocked, he could not see it on me, but when he held up my new size pants it suddenly hit him. I really don't think he is capable of seeing sizes, his own or mine.

Any ideas where to get decent priced garments? I did a search and the lowest price I found for stomach and thighs was 75.00 and If you go through a few of them that adds up in a hurry.

when does this get better?
myrori replied to big2twig's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
warm tea is great for the tummy troubles. If not warm tea then ice chips or a Popsicle. Get some Gatorade and freeze it if cold works for you, but you must put some work into getting better. -
Doug, you are something! Makes me wish I was 20 years younger:)
