I'm sorry you feel this way. I did not see your post, where was it? I try to check often, but I have life happening too. I am one of the great stallers. One pound and then noting, one pound and then nothing, 3 pound out of nowhere. I up cardio, count my carbs, increase Protein and make sure I am getting enough essentail fatty acids. Ie fish oil and Omega 3's. Plenty of my posts had just sat at times. I own my struggles, it is something I need to do rather than blame others. Be accountable to ones self! Count your carbs: should be less than 50 a day. Keep a written record of every morsel that crosses your lips( often you do not realize who much your are taking in with easy or slider foods. When a stall takes hold, take hold back and do some extra cardio, up your liquids and sometimes to reset the clock, go back to the liquid phase and start over!

Check with your insurance about where to get your blood tests after the fact. I had my drawn in the doctors office and because of the charges I am on the hook for over 600 bucks for the 3 month post op test. I guess had I got it done at a one of the covered hospitals verses he office I would only owe about 200.00.

Post OP Pain - pulling, feels like muscle cramps - Help?
myrori replied to SinDLou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mid back pain under the right shoulder blade till about the 8 week mark, it was especially bad when I had to sit up all day at work. In retrospect I would guess that it was a nerve yelling about swelling or what not of things being different in there now. -
And here we go....

Best Wishes and a speedy recovery! -
Today has been the first nice day outside since my surgery in November. Before I knew it was that freakin nice out I had done 30 minutes free step on my WII and 20 minutes of just dance. Then we left to go out a lunch/dinner at a Hawaiian restaurant and I could not believe how FANTABLOUS it was out. I actually spent more time at the restaurant thinking about coming home and taking the dogs for a walk! So when we got home I took them and we walked farther than any time every in the last 4 years of living here, then I brought them home and decided that the yard needed to be picked up, so I put on my tennis shoes AND walked to Walgreens about 4 blocks away to by yard waste bags, carried them back the 4 blocks and picked up all the leaves and sticks in the yard, and THEN yes there is a THEN I put out the solar lights around the flower bed and walk ways! I still have energy to spare, no back pain, no sciatica, my hips are not screaming and I am PSYCHED!

My cup size remained the same, I went down a size. I would not suggest ordering too many as things change so rapidly. Mine, like DJ said deflated also -
Knee Arthritist Pre-VSG
myrori replied to lkcraig316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lisa, I have a knee I injured in JR some 20 years or so ago It has NO cartilage, no acl and huge ball of arthritis on the inside side. I go get cortisone injections and they make a world of difference for me. As for after the weight comes off,, let me tell you, never in my life would I have believed it would make such a huge difference in my pain. I had sciatica so bad that every day I was hurting to tears, my knee ached and did not want to move. My back has not gone out in months now and the sciatica is a distant memory. I have had any knee injections for a year! So YES it makes a world of difference. -
I understand you feel like it may never end, however be grateful you have these doctors who want the best for you. Unresolved breathing issues could cause you to stay on a ventilator after surgery. Finish mourning this set back and then try to turn your thinking around, rather than feeling like victim when you go to the doctor think of it as you are taking charge of your health and not matter what they may or may not find with your tests, knowelge lets you empower yourself take charge of the situation and do what is best for your body! Just think of all this as hoops you have to jump through to get to the prize of surgery! Once the weight starts coming off you sugars will be more controlled and you will probably loose the cpap all together! After climbing the hill there is one direction on the other side!

I have yet one more theory on tolerance, You have very little food in your stomach AND the liquids slide right through and hit you hard and fast. Yet more wise advice: Vodka, whisky, gin, grappa, cognac, rum or any other distilled alcohol, with no sugar added (all turned into alcohol) have zero carbohydrates. Beer has lots and so does wine (red more than white, but still a lot.) A good rule-of-thumb is anything even slightly sugary or malty has carbs. Alcohol is sugar in another form (better, I'd say) and not a calorie is lost. You still get the energy. But no carbs, natch. The carbs have all been magically turned into booze. However, they severely delay weight loss. I guess they keep the liver too busy. All those "empty calories" must bounce about a lot. Atkins died before he'd come to a conclusion on the matter, though I remember him recommending a glass of vodka rather than beer, wine or, supreme sin, fruit juice. But booze not only delays fat loss; it withholds Water and puffs you up. Distilled alcohol is still a miracle little understood and appreciated.

How do you tell when you're full?
myrori replied to VSGandMe2011 (DisneyMomma)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get a feeling in chest just below the sternum. It is almost like the sleeve has filled to the top and the food is sitting at the entrance and one more bite after that feeling of pressure hits and it will be a world of uncomfortable and most likely vomiting. -
constipation post surgery
myrori replied to bugirl928's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 months post op and I still struggle with constipation. I also use miralax daily. -
let me ask you this? On what diet did you ever lose 25 pounds in 6 weeks?????? Your expectaions are unreal and your stall is very typical of any type of Weight loss surgery. My daughter had bypass and I had the sleeve 5 months later, I HAVE surpassed her in weight loss. It is only a tool, apply its benifits and accept the stalls. PS>>>>>>> there is NO magic Pill or Surgery,, you need to adjust your expectations.
-
This explains so much... I am guessing since my husbands employer administers claims for BCBS I was just plain lucky.
-
I am really confused by all this,, I have BCBS of IL and I submitted last August and was approved right away with NO diet????

It does suck, but then again I suspect two things here, your friends are also very young and not over weight. That combination combined I would except that response. They are young and inexperienced. This is the Mom in my talking and also the former fat person talking,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, SCREW what they think! Why do I say this? In a few months you will have the results of your decision as proof that you are doing what YOU need to do! I applaud you for being young and knowing what you want. You are sparing yourself for a life time of personal pain and illness. Congrats on your decision to advocate for your own health. IF after you look great and feel great, these friends can not get on board with your decision, then and only then is it time to not call them friends anymore.

The really great thing about the sleeve is it has freed me from the control of food. I have had a really bad week and not once did I turn to food for comfort. It was the farthest thing from my mind, heck I even skipped dinner a couple nights, (ya that kind of bad). Don't get too sad about food, you will eat pretty much anything you want again, just not in the quantity you do now.

stuck at 178 for 5 weeks
myrori replied to mbridgeman27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heck I was stalled at 191 for WEEKS! I thought I would die! So I took to tracking my food, kept my carbs under 30 and added an extra Protein shake a day. I also added essential fatty acids, ie lanolic acid, olive oil, ect. in the form of a supplement. I increased the intensity of my cardio work out too. Water is important, it helps our body flush out the bad including fat. I dropped to 179 in 2 weeks after the stall and stayed for 2 weeks, then 176 for week and now 174. I bet it stays here too for a bit. It seems now that the bulk of the weight has been lost the weight comes off and then levels for a bit. Just stick to the good habits and you will start moving again. -

If you MUST continue with this ASS I suggest you rehearse a reply that will stop him in his tracks. Like as soon as he starts put your hand up in front of his face and tell him "LOOK, I am trying here, I taking the steps required to have a life changing surgery so I can loose weight, so I don't need your lecture! Be sure to look in directly in the eye when you say it. He is a bully and and as long as he thinks he can push you he will, PUSH BACK!
