I am allergic to adhesives so the steri strips sent me to the moon! I used hydrocortizone cream on them, rubbed it right into the strip and around it. The Doc removed the strips at day 7.

Is it just me or is this not as easy as it seems?
myrori replied to livinglifelikeitsgolden's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had lots of surgeries prior to VSG, so I knew abdominal surgery was going to be painful. The thing I was not prepared for was the gas they used to open the field as prior surgeries were open. Now if I had to compare gas pain to the pain of open abdominal surgery, there is no comparison. The gas is more like an annoying left over pain, where as the pain from the large incisions was intense and required lots of narcotics and recovery time. I went in knowing that I had to go through the discomfort to achieve the goal of weight loss I so deeply desired. That frame of mind keep me from focusing on every pain and new uncomfortable feeling I had after the surgery. I would just say " and this too shall pass, and I will loose weight!" By Day 7 this will all be just a thing in your past and you will be well on your way to your weight loss goals! -

Early on, and now my standard staples are greek yogurt, cottage cheese with caned pears(splenda version), cheese, lots of chicken, turkey breast roll ups, eggs. I now regularly have Trader Joes turkey meat balls with spaghetti sauce, the chicken and tuna snack packs. Chicken Fajitas minus the shells.

There are 2 kinds of Gas pains after surgery. One being from the CO gas they use to expand the surgical field with. That pain takes time and movement to go away, Gaxex will not help. Then about the end of day 2 or beginning of day three you start getting real gas pain from your bowels just starting to wake back up and from the liquids you take in and swallowed air, now that part Gas X will help with! Take it with, it can hurt you and just may help here an there.

Pushing my luck...
myrori replied to Husky2Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest you sit down and make a list of the reasons you needed this surgery and what want from it. Then every time you want to eat "just because it tastes good" look at your list and ask yourself if the food you are about to eat will help you get to your goals or falls in line with the reasons you had this surgery. You had major surgery, you took a huge step why would you undermine all that? (tough love). -
I seen 169 on the scale this AM,,, I have been battling through the 170's for 2 months! Is it normal to have to fight so hard once you get down in weight? I am excercising more than ever before in my life and I just don't get this slow weight loss when consuming only 6-800 calories a day. I watch my carbs, I only eat chicken, it is just frustrating!

My struggles/My questions
myrori replied to Diamond-n-the-rough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sooo sorry you are going through this. I can't offer any advice from personal experience but I would definitly try the stretching thing before letting him do bypass. My daughter had bypass and struggels with vitamin defincies and symptoms and tends to put on a few pounds here and there if not really really careful, not to mention the horrible dumping syndrome that takes time out her life! -
Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated

I used hydrocortozone cream over the steri strips to stop the itiching. -
For me it was the pain, but that was only the first 2 days post surgery. I had a bit of nausea, but the nurses quickly took care of it with a shot. My pain was well well controlled with the pump that I could push every 6 minutes and 4 hour booster injections into my iv. When I went home I was more sore than in pain and had no nausea after day 2 in the hospital. When mental preping,, try to stay on the postive side, I think what expect tends to be a self fullfilling proficy.

How long did it take you to get approved?
myrori replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Approval from insurance about 2 to 3 weeks, to jump through all the surgeons hoops of testing and counseling 6 months. -
I asked about this very concern and I was told the body figures it out and when I am at goal I will add carbs back in and that will stop the loss

I have made this two ways, one with the cauliflower cooked first and the way with it raw. I have found that when It is raw, mixed with egg and cheese it sets up best. Now mind you it is not a crust you can pick up, but when baked in the raw state it is servable in one piece with a spatula.

I am 5 months out and for most days I can eat about 4 bites of chicken and a couple veggie bites. Some days I can eat more and some days a lot less. Like today one greek yogurt did me in at lunch.
