GoodWill got me through the rapid weight loss phase for like 23 dollars! AMEN. Now things are slowing down and I have been wearing the same jeans for a couple months,(they are a LOT looser) I find I need more work out clothes than regular clothes My job provides uniforms and boy did they take a hit on that,( I offered to wear reg until things slowed down) but I have gone from a 48 pant to a 36 and a 2xl shirt to a med and they had to buy 2 of each size along the way at about 40 bucks a pair/shirt and of course new belts and sweaters I wonder if they now regret telling me I could not wear street clothes? -
Congrats to both of you who had surgery this day! Hope to hear from you two that all is fine. For the rest of you who have not had surgery and are struggling with the feelings of backing out,, bargaining is perfectly normal in the mind. This is a huge change you are going through and the mind likes status quo. Just keep telling yourself all will be fine and I want to loose this weight! I kept doing the well maybe I should diet one more time mind game,,, I just kept reminding myself I had a life time of failed diets. Surgery was the only thing that was going to allow me to diet and then keep the weight off!

Dahhhhhhhlirling, In my book you look FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Oh it will fight you! and then it will shrink! In the 7 months post surgery i have went from a 46 to a 36, 10 inches. You will lose it first around the face and other small areas like the wrists and shoulders. It is the bodies way holding on for famine! At some point you will have to decide ( like a year from now) how much is fat and how much is extra skin and have it removed if you so desire. This is the best thing you have ever done for you!

Trust me girl friend, no one there cares what your nails look like, they only see the surgical site through the blue drape. Then they are on to the person! Former surgical tech.

Today I see my PCP for the first time since surgery
myrori replied to myrori's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well did I do it the right way,, No. I was being stubborn and enough of doctors, having a bit of medical background I took myself off meds. I monitored my BP at home and Blood Glucose and just did it. My surgeon would not touch the meds questions. I have and aversion to too many drs visits in a a year -
Tell us all you want! We have been there done that! Best of luck!

So I went, I was so super nervous for some reason???? None of the staff said a word to me, got kinda nervous. So I wait and wait and wait for the doc in the room, he finally comes in and he stops in his tracks and says Look AT YOU! He was smiling from ear to ear. He said he was so proud of me. Then he says how did you do it? Eating right? Exercise? I said both and I had VSG. He clearly did not have a clue about the procedure. I had to explain it to him. He then says " It is reversible? and I am like well I suppose if you get me a donor stomach? I told him I don't see any need for my stomach ever again, it was allowed me to be fat all my life. We reviewed meds, Nope, no longer taking 5 blood pressure medicines, no longer taking metformin. He listened to my heart, and then he just stopped and looked at me again and said " You know I can't tell you how proud I am of you" and reached out and put his hand on my shoulder and said "now come on lets get you out of here, you are too healthy to spend your day in a doctors office!" -
Here is my 2 cents worth. No my arms are not perfect, I have loose wings, but they really only show when I lift my arms up away from my body sideways. I have a girl friend who had the surgery, not only was she in a lot of pain, now she had scars that run the length of her upper arms. So I am thinking if I have surgery I am still going to be embarrassed from scars to wear sleeveless shirts so what is the point???? I will continue to tone my arms and that toning shows front and out side and really a lot in the lower arms and so I will carefully chose my shirts and continue to tone, no surgery on arms for me. Now since I will NEVER be bikini material I will have a tummy tuck!

JUST BEEN SLEEVED EXTREME LOWER BACK PAIN
myrori replied to layloo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had back problems for past 3 years. What you describe does not sound like normal muscular pain. Are you urinating ok? I do think a call to the doctor would be wise. -
So here I am at 8 months out and suddenly my hair starts thinning in front to the point I am condsidering a hair piece. I knew hair loss was a possiblility and I was willing to lose it to lose weight and gain health, but it getting increasingly difficult to style what is left of my bangs creatively. So today I found this article from Mayo that reassures me that I will get my hair back, however I disagree about the nutriention part as I have been all about my protien and Vitamins. If you are one of those people that seek to lose weight, there is something that you need to be made aware of. Rapid weight loss over the course of several weeks or months can lead to hair loss. Any type of Vitamin supplement everyday when you are trying to lose weight in order to replenish the nutrients that you may lose. Doctors also recommend keeping a healthy diet full of all the essential daily needs I also found this website that sells partial hair pieces that looks like it might help: http://www.paulayoung.com/category/hairpieces/top+%26+crown+integration+piece.do?nType=2

I am 7 months out and I have not had pizza yet, not because my stomach can't handle it,, but because I only want to put the most productive weight loss food in the sleeve! I look at this way,, I did not go through this procedure to continue in my old bad habits and I want the weight loss to happen now, not later!
