myrori replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Hi there, I am 7 mouths post op and feeling GREAT! I am actually meeting with a couple of other sleevers in the area about once a week as our own little support system. Would love to have anyone join us! We usually meet on Mon or Wed and get a shared bite to eat. I figure navigating eating out is something we need to learn and we have great conversation and support each other.

Will I ever not feel like a fat girl?
myrori replied to aaa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I went to Old Navy and got a size 10 skirt and large tank top to try on,,, I cringed the whole time I was putting them on and the was SHOCKED to see the person in the mirror wearing that skirt! So the brain does take way longer if ever to catch up! -
Bought myself a jean skirt at Old Navy today! AND a tank top! First time since teens I have owned either!

I have to agree that I felt it was big business too! HOWEVER if we really want this surgery,, JUMP through the hoops! With that said, talk to the doc, they cant fake your results. Maybe you are borderline enough to wait and see as you progress with WLS?? Otherwise,,, get the CPAP,, play the game and get your surgery!
-
Congrats! Despite what other thinks, this boils down to you and what you want only! You know you best!

Early out it hard to describe as I think it changes as you heal. Pay careful attention and chew well, tight is a good cue that you getting full. If you feel something in your chest just below the breast bone you are absolutely risking over full!

On vacation and can't eat
myrori replied to gonnagetthere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And this too shall pass..................................... I tried to stay positive during this phase by telling myself I can have this or that instead of what I could not have. You are in a tougher situation that I was being on vacation. I can promise you this, once the weight starts falling off you will be on such a high that this will only a bump in time! -
I am down 106 pounds! I have been on this journey since June of 2010. I took off 50 pounds pre surgery and and 56 since Nov 2010. It is getting harder to take off every ounce. With the exception of this board, a couple of co workers and couple of great woman I have met on this board I have done it ALONE and i ultimately responsible for myself. So why this post tonight??? I guess watching Exreem make over, an email from Dr Oz about vanity sizing and Rachel Rays Show today about people who lost " Without going under the knife" I am fed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am married to and extremely obese husband 410 plus and can do more that work and go out to eat in a day, I have recieved only one compliment from him. I am making HIM look bad! F U !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and yes I mean that! I mean really?????? It speaks volumes to the so called US and why he felt safe marrying the fat girl! I have nothing but disgust left as he shovels down a triple bacon cheeseburger and waddles up to bed moaning about the pain he is in.. (Cold b***h or seeing reality for the first time?) Dr. Oz I want to see one of you "healthy shows "following" one of your folks who keep it off. Rachel, what every became of you Teen Kristina????? Nuff Said! Extreme make over tonight,, that kid needs to grow a pair, stop pouting and were is he at now???????????????????????????????????????????????? YES I had surgery! NO it was NOT the easy way out! Yes I need the tool!, YES I had to learn new eating habits! Yes I excersise my ASS off literally! 10 years from now I will be healthy weight wise, where will your folds be Dr. OZ, Rachel, and Extreme makeover???

WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN EVERYONE SAYS........
myrori replied to ursieursie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day one all I remember is waking up, pushing the button for pain and going back to sleep. Toward the end of Day 2 they took that pain pump away and then I had an attack of some sort, it was like huge pressure up under my diaphram. I felt like I was having a galbladder attact, but I don't have one. I called the nurse and told her something was very wrong the pressure just kept buiding, I insisted she call the doc and get the pain meds back! At that point in time there was no way I could swallow anything because of the pain and pressure, The doc okd a iv shot of meds and that relaxed me a bit then came a coughing spell and a huge amount of gas came up and out,, What relief! The next day I felt much better but it felt like someone had punced the heck out my rib cage. That was the worst time for me from the surgery, I never had nausea or vomiting ever! Not even when advancing my diet. Day 4 I went out to an auction and sat there for 5 hours. I was a little tired but not so much that it stopped me from doing things. -
Yesterday I stopped at a Farmers Market on bike ride and I was very interested in a booth that was offering info on a fruit and veggie supplement (as I don't feel after protien, I get enough of) and the effects of exercise and oxidative stress on the body. Long story short the lady called me athlete, blush blush,, while yes I am riding like the wind and working out, I never thought of myself as an athlete!

Does anyone NOT know their weight?
myrori replied to Karelia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I emphasized, my reply was for me and me only as for how I felt. I must ask why are you here then??? If you are truly happy with how you look and feel at your current weight? For me it was about A. I did not like what I seen in mirror and B.. About my health issues. I applaued you on getting in tune with you brain and body and only eating when and what you need! That is half the battle. For me there was no off switch of when to stop. I never want to imply I am better or not accepting. I have a life time of failed diets that keeps me humble! -
I have been doing the Wisconsin brand turkey bites when in a pinch! They give me a LOT of restriction so 4 links in and I am done, holds me over for the late nite dinners or just is plain dinner some nights!

Does anyone NOT know their weight?
myrori replied to Karelia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suspect the very fact you are here you are truly not happy with yourself. FOR ME and ME only, it sounds like this therapists\"s offered you and easy way out from the reality of your situation rather than facing the effects of your weight on your body. Sorry if that seems harsh, but until I got real with myself I had a 101 excuses for eating what I wanted and saying to myself if others don't like it they don't have to look. The reality of the situation was I was on 5 YES 5 blood pressure medications and when my Dad died of a massive brain stem bleed from his blood pressure it was enough for me to face the facts, I was heading in that direction! I can tell you this surgery is the absolute best thing I have ever done and is totally freeing of my former body. The fact you are hear is telling me your inner voice is guiding you further, listen to it! -
Very good NSV! I can totally relate! My husband is very large (400 or so) and we have to choose tables and we can never eat on the patio if it has plastic chairs. While that fact is startling to me, it is taking him a while to wrap his head around it. Congrats! Enjoy this!

Thank you and you will be there too!

How long did your pain last after surgerY?
myrori replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had a heck of a time day 2 and had to stay and extra day in the hospital. I had a coughing episode that caused a popping sensation around the diaphram. Looking back I truly believe that is because they failed to get me out of bed before day 2 and it was a gas build up. Anyway the next day I felt like someone socked the hell out of my diaphragm. I had to go back on pain shots from the attack to the next day. At home I used pain meds at night to sleep as my drain was causing a bent up feeling. Once that was gone I was fine and moving on. The incision pain lasted about 3 weeks, but was more of an annoyance than pain. -
Osmoprep or bowel prep day before surgery?
myrori replied to TheButterfly145's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually NO. I kept waiting for something, then I called my daughter who had to take it for her bypass and she said she felt nauseous from it and it she made a bunch of trips from it, but there I was 3 hours later and nothing. I think I went like 3 times and it was over. liquid diet for two weeks? Perhaps that is why,,, but I can tell you before and after whey protien produces stool on its own and constipation! -
I hear you! I can't even pick out a bra anymore, of course you would know nothing of the sorts! But I find trying on clothes exhausting !

I need to keep my mouth shut!!!!!!
myrori replied to MissBliss's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you! I noticed when I was on the high of the pounds dropping off or what work out I accomplished made one of my co workers a tad uncomfortable and I promptly shut up. I never want my success to make another feel less about themselves. Now sharring bodily functions,, that sounds like like obsession or something my elderly mom and Aunt would share -
I swallowed my dental appliance. It is stuck at the top of my stomach. I tried to vommit it up, no luck . Right now I don't know if I am more embarrassed or increasingly uncomfortable. Waiting in er room now.

I think what the host was saying it was not going to get the many anywhere as far as the rapid weight loss the show likes to imply. i applaud the guy for getting out there, in the Water and just moving at his size. The water aerobics and willing to keep moving is probably what kept him mobile at that point in his life. It is great for burning calories and improving flexibility, but I have to agree for the rapid weight loss they have on the show it would not produce the desired result. With that said, if you are not out there exercising this is a great starting point! I was surprised to find it way to easy for me at my current fitness level, but I enjoy it and still go every other week when I take a break from toning.

Osmoprep or bowel prep day before surgery?
myrori replied to TheButterfly145's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to drink a bottle of something from the store that was like 2 dollars, Magnesium citrus ? It is right in the laxative isle. The direction on the bottle was to take 2 oz, my instructions were to take the whole bottle. It was nearly as awful as I had imagined it was going to be.
