    Sick, but first NSV

I dont know what it is either.
  2. I am right there with you. I went back to work for the first time yesterday. One of my co-workers said, "wow you are really looking good, getting skinny"...I just said thank you and that I am really trying. A few people know, but I'm like you, I don't think everyone needs to know. I would never deny it if asked, but I don't feel like everyone needs to know full disclosure.

So hard to get the protein!

Thank you everyone for your ideas! I am going to try it all. I really want the protein and nutrients, I know I will feel so much better and have some energy once I get it right.

So hard to get the protein!

I am actually on soft foods now. I do have some tuna here at work and I plan on eating that today. It just feels like I have to eat a lot in order to get all the protein I need...thats why I really want to be able to down a Protein Drink.

So hard to get the protein!

Wow...51 grams! Maybe I will go to Vitamin Shoppe today and try, it cant hurt...I am pretty desperate at this point.
  6. Tomorrow will be my first full day back to work. I am really nervous about what food to take and if I can last the whole day. Even though I know I am not doing great as far as eating goes (I havent been eating enough & am definitely not getting the protein I need) while I am at home, at least I'm here. How did you all adjust to the work environment? I wish I didnt have to go back. :wink2:
  7. Wow how do you all get so much protein in? I am having the hardest time even getting close to 60g.
  8. I was banded on 10/21. The first week was supposed to be a pure liquid diet. My dr wanted me to drink 2 oz h2o and 2 oz of Isopure Protein water. I had a really hard time doing that, I hated the Isopure and it took me 2 days to finish one bottle of the Isopure, each bottle has 40g of protein. so at the very most I was only getting 20g, if that, of protein. My dr said i need to have 65g of protein per day. Today I was able to start soft foods, so this morning I made some egg beaters and added some unflavored whey, it was disgusting, i took one bite and threw it away, and opted for a yogurt instead. It has taken me over an hour to eat 1/2 of the yogurt. I am really starting to worry about nutrition. I don't see how I am possibly ever going to meet the 65g of protein per day. Does anyone have any ideas how to get the proper nutrients? What did you do? :sneaky:
  9. My left shoulder hurt too after surgery. Why is that? When I went to the dr he asked how my shoulder was feeling, at that time it didnt hurt so I didnt ask him why it would hurt at all. Now I wish I asked... I didnt know what that was all about.
  10. The first week is really tough. I know I didnt get enough nutrition...all i did was sleep and drink water and protein water, which i hated. On the 7th day I started on a few foods; refried beans, cottage cheese, egg beaters, sf jello, sf popsicles and broth. I did that for 2 days. Now today I can have a little more. I'm scared to eat now because I lost 14 lbs right away and dont want to gain it back. I had a banana today and some jello. I am going to broil a piece of salmon later. I feel like now that I am getting a few things in my stomach I have more energy so I can start my walking again, I had no energy before. My dr said that i will probably get hungry until I have my first fill. I am worried, but I didnt go through that pain to gain any weight back. I am up to 18 lbs lost, so its worth it. I hope you start feeling better, I know its hard and scary!
  11. I dont think it has to be all that much weight. Over the last year I have lost 54 lbs...14 of it was in the last week. I went to my post op 1 wk appt, and my shoes kept falling off..they were never loose like that. I dont know if I just wasnt retaining any water or what, but I know my shoes were really loose.

    Post Op Clear Liquid Diet

OMG thank you so much for posting that! I had my surgery exactly one week ago today. For the past week I have felt so tired and weak because I couldnt stomach the Protein water that I have. I was told by my dr to drink 2 oz of protein water and 2 oz of h2o every hour. I know I have not been getting my nutrients and I have not even been remotely close to hitting 65g of protein a day. Today I can start soft foods so I tried to make some egg beaters and added unflavored whey to them and they were disgusting, i took one bite and threw them away. I am really starting to worry. Do you recommend the unflavored powder or all of them?
  15. I am at exactly one week today. All I have had the first week is water, protein water, sf popsicles, and sf jello. I did not do well and feel like I got dehydrated because I have had a hard time drinking as often as they wanted me too. My dr wanted me to drink 2 oz protein water & 2 oz h2o an hour. But I was sleeping alot and not getting it down. I am good with water, but i HATE the way the protein water I have tastes. I just have to force myself. I know I havent gotten the proper nutrients this past week. I am starting to worry that if I dont get to my 65g of protein soon, I am going to start getting sick. I can start soft foods today so I am going to add Whey to my egg beaters and soup...and try to force myself to drink some of the protein water.
  16. I weigh myself everyday too. I just had my surgery on the 21st and its been exciting to see the weight coming off. 11 lbs so far.

    Exercise after Band

They made me take a few walks at the hospital right after my surgery....but since i have home its been really hard to muster up the energy. I am on that first week of a liquid diet and i am having a really hard time drinking enough water and consuming enough protein. I have been failing at it. I think yesterday I only had about 20g of protein and 80 calories. I tried to walk but I dont have any energy. What does everyone do to have enough energy to walk? Other than being tired, I feel great, my stomach doesnt hurt at all anymore and I can get around just fine. I went to work yesterday and by the time I went from my car to my desk i was really tired. Im thinking of trying to dilute some apple juice so i can at least get a few carbs to help with energy. I dont know what to do.

    Worried about water

I had my surgery on Oct 21st and I am having a hard time forcing myself to drink and I am starting to feel like I am getting dehydrated. I am going to try to really concentrate on drinking...its a lot harder than I thought it would be. I have been horrible about the water and the protein water...and thats all i have been ingesting since my surgery.
  20. I had my surgery on 10/21. I went in at 7 am, my surgery was scheduled for 10 am, everything was going so smoothly that they took me into the OR by 8:30 and I woke up in recovery at about 9:40. I vomited 3 times, each time after taking a walk, I think it was just because I was groggy and dizzy. I should say that I was technically vomiting but nothing came up because I had nothing in my stomach. I was home by 3:30. I was so sore Thurs, Fri and Sat, but felt really good on Sunday and actually went to work today. I havent been hungry at all, but I am having a really hard time with trying to reach the 65g of Protein everyday. I think I have only ended up with about 40. That has been the rough part for me. Plus I am really tired because I havent had any carbs at all since last Tuesday. I have seen alot of people on here who said they were on a liquid only diet a week or two before their surgery. My doc didnt say anything about that to me, as a matter of fact he said to just make sure that I eat well balanced meals. I started the liquid diet on Weds to prepare for my surgery on Thurs. I have already lost 11 lbs since Thursday...and I have no more pain. So far I am very happy that I made the choice to do it :huh2:
