February 2019 weight loss buds
Gotta win 4me replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey everyone!!!! Had the RNY on Feb. 7th and now I’m back at work(teacher). I feel normal and I don’t have any pain...I really was only in pain the day of the surgery and that’s because the wounds were fresh. Being back at work...I find that I’m thinking to much about what to eat. I had some soup today because I can now eat soft food. So I had to chew the little ingredients that were in the soup. I could have came back sooner but I enjoyed not having to do anything for the last couple of days. I feel the restriction and I’m happy about it! -

My experience is quite the opposite. I notice that when I drink water that if I drink it too fast or too much, I feel full and uncomfortable. -

As many surgeries that I have had. This is the one that freaked me out the most. The last surgery I had was a tad bit lower than this one and and the one before that was a tad bit lower than the previous one. Surgery is scary either way it goes. I had a complication but not related to the surgery. It was related to an allergic reaction that I had the night before surgery. Everything will be fine and you will know it is fine right after you wake up from the Anesthesia. . -
This replenished my energy. I thought that I wouldn’t be able to do anything with just the regular protein shakes from ensure. I had my surgery on Thursday, February 7th and I feel normal now.

I will only be able to hold her while I’m in bed. Occasionally, I may have to lift her to put her in her car seat. -

I am being discharged. I still feel tied but at least I’m not sore. All I want to do is sleep because of my lack of energy. I really hope that gets better because I have a 1 year old that needs mommy to be energized for her play play time! -

I’m here in my first room with IV in. I am second in line for surgery @9:30. They will give me Benadryl after surgery because they don’t want me already sleepy when they put me under. I’m not as nervous as I was yesterday. Maybe because I sitting here playing a game!😄😉 -

Surgery is in the morning. However, right now I am having an allergic reaction to the Hibiclens they wanted me to shower with tonight and when I wake up. I have broken out into hives....EVERYWHERE!! I’m itching so bad! Does anyone have any remedies for this? I can’t take Benadryl because I can’t eat or drink anything. -

Thank you! I’m down to 3 days. I am supposed to be on a clear liquid diet on Wednesday. However, I think I will start that on tomorrow. Just so it’s just extra clear. I might even take a few laxatives to clean me out. I will do that because I have gastroperisis and my stomach empties way slower than a normal stomach. I developed that right after(a week later) I got the band put in. -

My surgery Band to Bypass is scheduled for February 7th. I have to start my 3 week Liver Shrink diet on January 17th due to my BMI being high. I’m nervous and excited at the same time and I can’t wait for that day to arrive. -
My pcp submitted the last of everything that was required of me in this process on last Tuesday, November 27th. I called my advocate at the weight loss center and she said that she had everything she needed and she submitted it to the insurance department. Well it been officially over a week and my insurance company says that they haven’t received anything. Also, if there was something pending or approved I would be able to see it when I log into my Cigna account. There is nothing there except my approval for removal of lapband. Should I call them? If so, how should I address them? I don’t want to nag but I also don’t want to wait to long and then they say they lost my paperwork. Please advise! Thank you!

UPDATE: I contacted my doctors office again on yesterday and explained that I have been trying to get in touch with someone about my insurance submission. Apparently, it was lost so they resubmitted to the insurance and it is finally appearing on my Cigna account in progress. That set me back 3 weeks. Smh Now the wait for the approval begins. -

Update: I have contacted them every other day since this post and NO ONE has returned a phone call or email. I don’t know who I can complain to. I’m starting to think I should find another doctor in another area. -
Advice is greatly appreciated!

Matt, I am having a conversion from band to bypass. I have been approved for the removal of the band and they were supposed to have submitted for the RNY part on last week. Sorry, I didn’t make that clearer. I would like to know if I should call my weight loss center to inquire about them actually submitting to insurance. -

I didn’t realize I could view it on my Cigna!! I just checked and mine isn’t there yet. Boo! Yea, I could see my removal precertification when it was pending. It took about 4 days for it to say approved. I’m so ready for my RNY precertification to appear so I can check several times a day until I get my approval. -

I have Cigna as well. My office submitted on Tuesday. Cigna say it should take 72hrs after they have entered it into their system. When I log onto my Cigna and search under precertification, I can only see my removal of lapband approval so far. Fingers crossed that I will get a surgery date soon. -
How long did you surgery take?
-
Congrats! My surgeon has just submitted to my insurance yesterday. I hope to have the conversion from Band to RNY in December or the beginning of Jan. I’m really hoping for December!!! How long did your surgery take?

I am switching providers again (3rd time) because now I finally found a doctor who will do both surgeries (Lapband to RNY) at the same time. I was approved for lapband removal with the (1st doctor) but he will do the RNY 3 months after the removal and the second doctor has the same feeling but for a different reason. I completed the nutritional classes and psych evaluation with the 2nd doctor. All I need now is a PCP letter and I will get that Monday so that I can submit it the 3rd doctor. I will have the 2nd doctor send over the psychological report and medical records showing that I attended the nutritional classes. Has anyone experienced anything similar and had issues getting the psych paperwork to the new doctor for submission?

Yea, I rarely ever see a Tennesseean on here. What doctor is doing your surgery? Dr. Wagner in Memphis will be doing my surgery.

Revision surgery at two different times.
Gotta win 4me posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So my surgeon will only do the surgery 2-3 months apart because he doesn’t want the surgery to take 5-6 hours. I do not want to be in surgery for that long so I guess I really understand but on the other hand I fee gutted because I just wanted the entire thing to be over and done. This is the second doctor that I have had that says two separate surgeries. Two different reasons but still two separate surgeries. I’m looking at January to have the actual bypass completed.
