I am the mother of three incredible children - two high school age and one early college age and the wife of a wonderful man. I have struggled with my weight for most of my life - although I have learned that I really wasn't heavy in my late teens and early twenties. I was just the only member of my immediate family who had meat on her bones and my Mom just didn't want me to "get fat". Strange thing is that my goal weight now is the weight I was in highschool and college! I have gained over 100 pounds since the birth of my children. I struggle with knee pain, back pain and low energy. I hate to shop for clothes because nothing fits. I hate putting on socks or stockings because it is so hard to reach my feet. I love food and I love to cook but I have finally decided I need to do something for my health and for my longevity. I have lost both of my parents in the last four years and although they never struggled with weight I know that my life span will be shortened for my own children if I don't do something about my own health. I want to be around for my children and hopefully, eventually, grand children! I was always afraid of weight loss surgery until I went to a seminar about gastric banding. I was sold! I have been going through the prep and counseling for the last four months and my surgery date is scheduled for November 4th. I am excited and scared at the same time. I want so much to be successful.
