Banded Feb 9th 2011....Was doing fantastic....still working out- still making better choices and eating less- NOT LOSING! More often gaining... I have had one fill already - felt restrictions in the first two weeks then nothing...I can basically eat whatever. I think that I need another fill. I do make better choices and I work out constantly but I don't seem to lose like I did in the past or sometimes even at all! I get so upset when my scale goes up or doesn't move. I just don't understand it... I have started (the past two days) eating crap cuz I feel like I just want to give up. I went through all this and all I lose is 42 lbs? I still fit in my old clothes...Most days I feel as fat as I did when I started Just venting my frustrations ...

I am sorry to see that you feel this way. I just came out of a huge depression about my lapband. I am 8 weeks out and have not lost much and have had a huge 3 week pleatue. I thought the same thing.I am eating SO much less and SO much healthier than before! Why am I not losing weight?! But then I started to do research and found that esp early out a persons body will try and retain any food that it takes in if it is less than we used to eat. So I threw myself into exercising and keeping my calories at 1000 (the healthy kind cuz 1000 cals of crap food and healthy food make a huge difference!) I hope you can find something to help you on your journey. Keep your head up! It is only a small tool in a big process!

I was banded Feb 9th, 2011. I lost a total of 15 lbs with the band and 19 before being banded. The past two and a half weeks I have flipped flopped between 224 and 226. I AM SO FRUSTRATED! I exercise and eat MUCH smaller portions...I go for my first fill on the 22nd but If I don't start loosing after my fill I don't know what I will do. I am so disappointed and depressed. Old habits are starting to sneak up on me again since there have been no 'rewards' of my work. Has anyone else had a plateau so early on? What did you do to make the weight come off? HELP please...I just about giving up.

Scale Obsession
punk.sauce replied to TexasNurseMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
your true weight is first thing in the AM after you pee and before you eat anything, weight yourself ONCE per week. pick every friday morning...i was the same way and i became so obsessed i had to get rid of my scale. it is soooo hard mentally and emotionally to watch those numbers change by going up! don't make yourself nuts! plus you will be super excited at the amount you lose! -

Hello All! I have been banded since 2-9 and today is the 12th.. I have been on mostly clear liquids with a few bites of sf pudding last night. now that the gas and swelling is almost gone I am starting to feel the hunger pings. I have been having a few ounces of beef or chicken broth twice a day, crystal light with protein, water, sf ice pops, but i am still very hungry. i saw on a few blogs that we can have shakes...milkshakes and protein shakes. how do i make them and what do i put in it? i have 1%milk at home...do i use frozen fruit? can i have a thinned regular milkshake for added calories? i have been soooo tired i know i am not getting enough calories! please help...my doctor and nutritionist was very vague with diet plans!

I am on day 7 post op! Down 7 pounds! I am wearing an outfit that I could not wear in months! I have a LLONG way to go but I am SO excited! I feel like I am KIND OF getting the hang of this diet....It is very tough but I have made it 7 days and I can make it another day, and another day, and another day. ONE DAY AT A TIME! ONE MEAL AT A TIME! I am looking forward to buying a used treadmill to help me walk as much as i can plus use the incline! I return to work on the 22nd...not looking forward to it...It is going to be a huge challenge...

Oh God ! I have the SAME annoying loud rumbling! It is obnoxious! I have been living off of pureed bean with bacon soup made with 1% milk instead of Water. I add some Fiber one powder to it. It only takes about 7 teaspoons if not less to fill me up and it is soo tasty! Also lots of water! But not right before or after i eat. I don't know about Tums...I would call the dr and check on that one to make sure since it is a chalky texture..

How long did you wear your compression garment (CG), girdle...?
punk.sauce replied to Cherishthepast's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I never had to wear one. This is the first I have heard of wearing a garment like that. You may just be afraid of pulling/hurting yourself without it on. Just take it slow...don't wear it for a few hours every day and then try a whole day around the house without it. When you are ready you can be free of it -
Severe pain after banding
punk.sauce replied to shnorbel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it sounds like it is too tight. was the band filled when they put it in? or was it empty? you may have something stuck or it may have slipped...be careful and contact your surgeon right away. they will help you. -
i have a follow up on the 18th (fri) the original follow up date i was given was the 22nd...i don't think i could have lasted that long. also i have to go back to work ASAP (they were NOT happy that i had this done and took off of work). my doctor never gave me a eating calendar...my nutritionist gave me a rough paper with a two day clear liquid (plus one day for pre-op) and two weeks of full liquids. my list for full liquids are 1%milk,skim or lactaid 1%milk,plain soy milk, yogurt either plain nonfat or light reduced sugar(no fruit), plain nonfat greek yogurt, sugar free pudding-custard-or Jello, no sugar added carnation instant Breakfast, cream of wheat thinnned, cream or rice thinned, thin oatmeal, strained cream or clear soups but no pieces allowed or any sort, sugarfree Protein powder or supplement look for 15-20p pro <20g total carb <5g fat per 8 oz that is for two weeks...i caved and had thinned mashed potatoes last night. i feel guilty and i hope i did not mess anything up. i just cant seem to get around the mental part of not having solid food in my mouth, i wish i had live in support...but this is my choice and my responsibility..

do you have to see the dr b4 changing food stages?
punk.sauce replied to punk.sauce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone. I have been on protein shakes with added proteins throughout the day.,Broths with added protein, crystal light with added protein, and as much water as I can handle lol. I just think it is the mental part of NOT BEING ABLE TO CHEW that I am having the WORST time with. I know it will get easier but right now I am off from work and my husband works nights so I have 12 hours of alone time a day...I walk as much as I can and do little things to keep me distracted but it is very hard. I will get through with help from you all! Thanks for your replies! -

do you have to see the dr b4 changing food stages?
punk.sauce replied to punk.sauce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I just felt like I was going to make really bad choices if I did not put something "solid" into my stomach! Isn't it horrible how addicted we have become?! This should not be this hard... -
I was banded 2-9-11 at Vertua In Marlton!! This is day number two (first full day) living with the band. I went into the hospital at 9am on Wednesday, was prepped, spoke with the anesthesiologist and surgeon, had five nurses try and take my two piercings out of my left ear...even tried to cut them out! but after all that they wound up taping them, Went into surgery at 11:30am and was in the recovery room at 1:00pm. I was put in the xray room and asked to drink a special nasty liquid fast as they took an xray of my stomach. It was painful and I started to throw up but nothing came out. The dry heaving was very painful. The gas they pumped my stomach with to do the surgery apparently travels to open pockets in your body. It is very painful and uncomfortable pressure in my shoulders and upper stomach, They say the only way to make it go away is walking. I also remember waking up at one point right after surgery shivering very bad and they put a heated blank on me, ( i am sorry if this has a lot of typos or doesn't make sense, i have not been able to put my contacts in and i am on a lot of pain meds) I woke up in their stage 3 room around 4:30pm. I was asked to eat some ice chips which i dry heaved immediately because of the anesthesia. again-very painful. The nurse gave me something in my IV for the nausea and after about half an hour i was able to take a few tiny nibbles of sugar free Jello and sip some Water without a problem. I was discharged at 7:30pm and arrived home at 10pm after picking up my prescriptions and my son from my mothers house. Of course i was not driving!! But the car ride home was very uncomfortable and it seemed as tho every road was having construction and bumpy!! I woke up every 3 hours last night and had to use the bathroom, take more pain meds, and sip some water. My throat was and is very sore from the tube they stick down there. So far it is 10:35am and I have had some beef broth, crystal light iced tea with a half a scoop of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein, and some water. I feel sleepy, sore, pressure from the gas, and a little light headed. I am so proud of myself for going through with something as big as this. I am very confident that I can use this tool to help shape my life into a healthy and happy one, If I follow the rules I will no longer only be able to shop in two clothing stores! I will no longer be too tired and lazy to chase my son around the park! I will for the first time since i was 7 years old be able to wear a tank top and shorts and feel COMFORTABLE instead of disgusted,. I am looking forward to the journey ahead of me with all of the ups and downs it will bring, food is energy for my body-it does not control me. Cravings and junk food can shove it!! I know how good it feels to be healthy and I cannot wait to feel it again!!! Before starting the process I weighed 258lbs. Lost 19Lbs on my own before surgery and was 239lbs. I will weigh myself in a few days and see where i am!

i am happy to find someone who has had the same experience as me. let' keep in touch and help each other out with meals, right now i am struggling with the liquids. i have done some shakes because i cannot get my head around just liquids. i honestly dont want to wait the week until i see my dr again i want to try mushies! but i guess it is all for a reason!

Thanks everyone! i am feeling much better today but very hungry! not stomach wise but mentally i want to eat something!! pain is better, gas is gone, almost threw up earlier because i had some yogurt and was forced to run around after my dog that got out. NOT A GOOD IDEA! i was very upset. i have been sleeping A LOT! i guess it is part of the healing process...im not sure if i am getting enough food in my system. its hard to judge!

Hello lapband world! I am being banded this Wednesday Feb 9th! After more than ten months of testing, doctors, psychologists, diets, and flaming hoops...IT IS FINALLY HERE! I have been reading as much as I could about preparing for surgery and what to expect....But I am now in the O MY GOD WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?! DO I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?! CAN I EVEN DO THIS?! I keep going back and forth about everything..plus I AM STARVING! And want to eat everything in site! I even developed constant head aches from the stress! I guess what I am looking for is as much advice about preparing as possible...real life situations from as many people as possible. As well as life after. I know everyone is different but I feel (even after months of research) I am not prepared at all!!! Melanie
