I had the lap-band surgery in August 2003. In March 2004, my band was inadvertently overfilled. This caused me a great deal of pain and required immediate surgery to unfill the band. Before that point, I'd been losing weight well. After that, things slowed drastically, and I was scared of it happening again. Then divorce and single motherhood intervened, and taking care of my lap-band fell pretty low on the list of priorities. Fast forward to now. I've remarried, and now have added another son to the family, and I want to take better care of myself. I want to get my lap-band taken care of, get the weight off that I've gained back, and be healthy for myself and my family. I'm scared, I'm nervous, I'm afraid I'll find out something has gone wrong with my band. But I've got to try. I haven't made use of this tool that I went to great expense and effort to obtain, and I'd like to do that now. I want to be healthy. I want to be here for my kids.
