  1. Happy 43rd Birthday mingteal!

  2. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary mingteal!

  3. Great to hear that you have restriction! Maybe try upping the protein to help keep hunger at bay. If you get full on small amounts, eat the protein in your meals dirst. Protein has been my best friend since I got banded.
  4. Had my first fill three weeks ago. I pretty much freaked out when the doc said he was going to give me 5ccs for a first time fill in an 8cc band. He said it was standard practice for his patients to try to get to restriction quickly. I learned that very few of his patients have more than two fills in the first year. The night of the fill I was so tight I could barely swallow Water. The next day even mushy food was a nightmare - bubbles, hiccups - felt like I was trying to swallow a boulder. I rang the nutritionist who gave me some excellent advice based on working with my doc's patients - she told me to take things slowly, soppy mushies for a few days and then soft food. She told me it would take several days to build up to solid food (Iwas still on mushies when I had the fill) and not to worry as long as I could manage flhuids. She gave me some great ideas of what to eat until the restriction loosened, which I happily used. Well, lo and behold after two weeks of tightness, things slowly loosened up to a point where I now feel happy with my restriction. I can eat most things but absolutely not more than half to three quarters of a cup and that keeps me satisfied for four hours without hunger. I don't know if this is a sweet spot and I know that things may change but for the time being I love my band! banded 11/22 35lbs lost
  5. Hi everybody, glad to hear you are all on the road to recovery. I was banded in the UK and my post op diet seems a little different from my USA bandsters in that I am on a liquid diet for four weeks, mushies for four weeks and then solids. I was given a lot of information avout healing and settling the pouch. I sip 3oz servings of water, diluted fruit juice, protein shakes, liquid protein (new Whey) and thin soup at regular intervals thoughout the day. I sip slowly and make sure I always have stuff pre-prepared in those fabulous little Glad one cup food savers. I too am still a little shocked that I am actually 'on the other side'!!!
  6. Isopure zero carb protein powder with added vitamins and minerals. Isopure zero carb clear protein drink. Gummy vitamins, soluble fiber. whey protein zero carb shots, arizona diet green tea tubes, soup and broth. I have to stay on liquids for four weeks post op.....

    Surgery Date 11/22 Anyone Else?!?!

I am being banded on the 22nd too.... so nervous I have lost my appetite.... seriously, I am so scared I can hardly eat but I am a little excited too!!! Bought Isopure Protein shakes because of the additional Vitamins and minerals. I have four weeks of liquids and then four weeks of mushies to look forward to and no fill until six weeks post op. Good luck and very best wishes to everyone for Monday's surgery:thumbup:
  8. Me too! Scared but really excited!!! When do you start pre=op diet and how long on liquids post op? I am getting the realize band - metal port clips sounsd scary tho'...
  9. I had my initial pre-op consult today and my head is still spinning! I had done tons of research and had my questions ready. He has done about 400 WLS cases and has an excellent reputation. Things making my head spin are..... the four week post of liquid diet and surgery for the first time in my life. He was quite honest about expectations and potential complications.. told me the port is clipped into place on his sytem rather than stitched... sorry to ramble - head is still spinning! Scheduled for the 22nd Nov.
