I was diagnosed with a slip yesterday. I am very sensitive to barometric pressure, and we just started getting pressurized cold fronts coming in, and I get REAL tight when the pressure goes up. I am pretty sure when my band slipped, because I was at home the day after a big high pressure front, and was eating yogurt and could not get it down. I threw up “jellyfish” for 3 hours. Since then, I have had major heartburn, acid reflux and it is painful to get anything down, even frozen yogurt. When I eat or drink anything, slime comes up by the mouthful to try and help get it down. When I attempt to burp I taste stomach acid just in the air that comes up. The Dr said yesterday that it slipped and they emptied the band, and now I am on liquids for 2 weeks. My weight loss has been going pretty well, losing 74 lbs since my surgery Nov 2010. I am so bummed, because I do not want to get way off my goal track, but it does feel nice to not taste stomach acid. I hope this unfill will fix it, cause I’m a self pay and cannot see paying for a revision or removal surgery.

How many calories are you eating per day?
Rudgirl replied to MrsGillen07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am usually around 850 calories per day, and at the most maybe 1000. -
I have been banded for 9 months, and 3 mo this ago I was in a car accident with my family. It was a very stressful situation for a while, and I had to get a small unfill because the stress had caused the bad to get much tighter. After I was able to get passed the major stress of the accident, I was able to get the same amount back in of .2cc. It only took that small amount to make a difference big enough to keep loosing and stay satisfied.

I have a 10cc band and am at 7.5 and feel like I am finally in the green zone. Though my body is very sensitive to the barometric pressure, some days I am so tight I stick to softer proteins, and some days I can eat a properly prepared steak. But I am satisfied and do not feel I am eating too much on either day. Just be patient look at it as a whole, not each meal.

Hi Ladies, I do not have diagnosed celiac, though my daughter does and in turn I eat a completely GF diet and was banded November 2010. I have found that eating GF with the band is the easiest and most successful way to eat while being banded since it is such a healthy lifestyle. We do not look for many GF alternatives in bread or breaded products unless she is really wanting chicken nuggets or fish and then I stick to the non-breaded sort; it is almost like eating a healthy version of Atkins everyday. Eat fresh and non processed foods, be careful with marinades and sauces and think simple. Bread is a no-no being banded anyhow, and you should be staying away from sweet treats like cake and Cookies and crackers….(If I want a treat, it's a no sugar added fudgsicle or a sugar free popsicle. If I really want something more than that while I am out, I get frozen yogurt) All Boars Head deli products are GF, and I eat everyday for lunch at work about 2oz of Salsalito Turkey and 1oz of cheese, with a very small portion of a fruit or vegetable. If I need a change, I vary in turkey or chicken flavors, and types of cheese…Think Simple!! I stay away from beef and pork since it is a higher calorie meat, and eggs are a great tool to use in GF cooking and a banded diet. Chicken Baron has a great frozen raw chicken burger patty, and I eat those regularly topped with sautéed mushrooms and, or avocado. While getting used to your band in the early stages, stay with laughing cow cheese wrapped in deli turkey or chicken sliced thin, so its easy to go down and is considered a soft food. Natures Own has a great Protein powder called Spiru-tein which has a lot of GF flavors, it says it on the label, just stay away from the obvious flavors like cookies and cream. Even has Chai-Latte flavor and Cappuccino, you can find them online at like Lucky Vitamin, which is one of the best prices I have found. You can check it out at spiru-tein.com, and all you need is milk and a shaker cup. Simple!! I was making egg muffins early on…mix eggs and any veggies cheese and turkey Breakfast sausage and bake in the oven in mini muffin tins…example egg, Monterey jack cheese, turkey breakfast sausage, tomatoes, sautéed onion and mushroom, (just think of your favorite omelet). Freeze each one wrapped in saran wrap and then foil, when you warm it up, tastes like new. Just thought I would share a bit of my tips, and feel free to contact me with any questions, I am still on my own journey to my goal weight…got 35 lbs more to go!! Good Luck on your success.

5 Fills...7.5CC's and really cant eat...Need guidance
Rudgirl replied to tab1975's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm at 7.5 in a 10cc band, and I finally think I am in the green...though I can’t imagine not being able to eat anything. You need to find your green zone to be able to live your life without the obsession of food, including the band...be it too tight or you too hungry. The point is to be able to re-train yourself how to eat, to where there is little thought process behind it. If you have to worry about if you can eat or what you can only eat, it is taking the training method out of the tool. Please try a tiny un-fill, and see how it fits you, and then take it from there. -

November bandsters unite!!
Rudgirl replied to topazz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HI, I'm scheduled for November 17th and officially start my pre-op Atkins diet 11/3, but I am changing over already. I have my Psych., and Nutritionist apt on 11/4, and have a couple labs to go still. I am self pay, as my insurance has an exclusion for weight loss surgery. I am excited for the change in my life!! Anyone scheduled the 17th also?? -
