  3. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary nurse2minister!

  4. First, Congratulations on the weight loss. I would make a follow up appointment with your MD before your insurance expires just in case he needs to do something about the Hematoma. Sometimes they will absorb and sometimes they need to be drained. Also, with the insurance, first they might could negotiate a fee with your new insurance, especially since you got this under and older policy and you need to continue to receive care. You might also discuss it with your HR to see if they can/will pull some strings. If that does not work, maybe your doctor will allow you to come in and pay the same fee as self pay patients. Some doctors this is a lower rate and may not be that much. You will be better soon. You have done great so far. Also some insurance companies offer case Management, you might check into the new insurance and when that kicks in call and ask for a CM to assist you with navigating some of these issues.

    I look like a slob!

My wife who had a lap band 7 months ago and lost 108 lbs, has found the local goodwill and other 2nd hand stores to be her friend. Also her MD office has a cloths closet. Many times in the 2nd hand stores she has found smaller size clothing with price tags intact for 1-3 dollars. Her MDs office has a room where people bring their bigger cloths and they can pick up smaller cloths for free. Good luck and congratulations!

    Pain in my gASS!!

I had this for a couple weeks, even have a post on here. The gas X did not seem to help. I took the pain meds at night as this is when my pain was the worse. I would also like to add that if you are able to shower, standing under a warm shower seemed to bring relief. Also in bed turning from side to side might be worth a try. Make sure you are following the instructions about the Temperature of your liquid, nothing too hot or cold and don't drink through a straw as you may swallow too much air. Liquids that are too warm/cold may cause spasms. However on the flip side sometimes warmer liquids seem to sooth that pain. Just know it will pass and if it does not call your doctor, that is why he/she is there and they will have remedies that might help.

Just banded a week ago and I'm HUNGRY!

Hello, I want you to know that this will pass for you. Some of the things that you need to make sure you are doing and know is that, of coarse unless your doctor says different, you need to be drinking more than sugar free no cal liquids. Many people think this phase is only such liquids when in fact you can have real fruit juice such as apple, oj and grape...you may have to dilute them so it does not bother your stomach. Also keep on hand popsciles and other frozen things like luigies icees. Also I would try getting things like brothy type soups and straining them and adding water. IT gives a better taste than just the boullion cube. Keep a water bottle filled up and crystal light and tea as well. Don't forget the jello. YOu can do this and you do not want to skip phases so that you don't mess up this band. YOu have already been through a lot, with either paying out of pocket or going through insurance hell hang on. Also keep your mind occupied, sign up for an online class, take a walk, watch a movie, call an long lost friend, journal what you want to do when you are able to feel better and not weighed down. I am pulling for you!!!
  8. Can I ask you where your husband is with his weight? Maybe he does not know how to handle the changes that he sees in you. Also the new confidence you have in your body and life (which is a good thing) is a difficult thing for him to take in. The first thing you should do is sit down and have a heart to heart and try to talk in a non-confrontational way. If that does not work, suggest therapy and if he refuses then go to therapy for yourself. Let him know that while you celebrate how this surgery has helped you to look better, the best thing is you are now more healthy and have cut the risk of premature death or illness. Let us know how you are doing in the future. You can also try other sexual positions and now that you have lost weight it is probably and option. Maybe go away on a long weekend together. Hope everything works out fo you.
