I have been struggling with my weight for the last 18 years. Every time I have a child I gain 50-60 lbs. Now I am 258 lbs, this is the most I have ever weighed. Everything bothers me. it is hard for me to tie my shoe, and I went to an amusement park with my children and could not fit on the roller coaster. I was outraged at myself for allowing me to gain so much weight. This incident at the amusement park made me want to do something about my situation and lose weight. So I started exercising and going to various clinics getting b12 shots and phentermine. I would lose the weight and then gain double the weight back. At the beginning of this year I was suffering from many headaches and having blurry vision. I attributed these symptoms to me getting older. However, one morning my daughter came to my bedside to wake me, when I opened my eyes, I could not see anything. I was so frightened, I went to the eye doctor they assured me that I had 20/20 vision and that nothing was wrong. They gave me a MRI on my brain, and EEG, and even a CT scan, but could not find anything. I was then referred to a neurologist, and he told me I had Psuedotumor Cerebri, which is a condition that mimcs a brain tumor, I don't have a brain tumor, but I have the symptoms of the tumor. The doctor said that this condition was caused by obese status, he informed my PCP that I needed to lose weight quickly and that a LAP Band procedure would be perfect for me. So here I am, today I went to the consultation, and they told me that my insurance would cover me 100%, I just needed to go get a psych evaluation. Now I am here at this site to get more information about the procedure and how to safely lose weight and keep it off.
