an appology for all..
MICHELLE LEE replied to MommyTawnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MommyTawnie, Your weight loss is fantastic. Keep doing what you are doing. This forum is supposed to be for support. However, people are emotional creatures. A little vent now and then never hurt anyone, as long as we all come back to our senses fairly quick .LOL Have a Great Day, Michelle -
If Im not mistaken, clonidine is used treat blood pressure. It is said to be used for many other issues as well. I looked it up on PubMed and a recent study found it to be extremly helpful for the use of hot flashes. This drug can cause drowsiness, which will be intensified if taken with antidepressants or anxiety meds. It is available in a patch. If you can deal with possible side effects, go for it. It doesnt hurt to try.

I ended up having severe anxiety whiloe using Wellbutrin. It was so bad that while I was driving home I began to hyperventilate and caused myself to pass out. I woke up surrounded by emergency personnel. Just be careful and do your research. I found OTC Estroven to help with libido. That is probably due to my own GYN issues though.

Atkins protein bars
MICHELLE LEE replied to brazcan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me personally, they didnt have enough protien, and were a little high in fat. I like the prmier protien bars available at walmart. 19g protien. Its all about what you lose best with. Fat doesnt really effect me, but I wanted to watch it anyway. -
So today, I did something I have been longing to do for years but what too scared. I joined a gym, and actually went, got the tour, and did 30 minutes on the treadmill at a brisk pace. I didnt think I could talk myself into the door, let alone complete a 30 minute workout. I know it doesnt sound like much, but for me it was a major accomplishment.

Just For Today - I surrender
MICHELLE LEE replied to SinDLou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too used to look to food for comfort. Sometimes still do, but end up feeling horrid. Lately, I have just been sending up a little prayer asking for peace of mind, and a calm heart. Then I find one room in the house and clean it top to bottom. For me, it helps. You just have to find your own soothing activity, preferably away from the kitchen .... -
I still can only manage a few bites of the protien . Im 2 months out, and tend to fill up quick...

What laxative is safe at 2 weeks post op?
MICHELLE LEE replied to brazcan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Miralax is great..You can mix it in crystal light or flavored water. It has no taste and dissolve well. I also use Smooth Move Tea a few times a week just to keep things regular. -
Newbie...surgery date 3-10-11
MICHELLE LEE replied to lifetimejourney4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too traveled away from home for my surgery. My surgeon was 7 hours away. Once I was released from the hospital, I chose to drive home, mainly because it was Christmas Eve. It all depends on how you feel. I was sore, but not in alot of pain. The main thing to focus on in those days after surgery is to sip, sip , sip. You dont want to get behind on your fluids. I believe in 3-4 weeks the suture line is mostly healed. As long as you follow your surgeons instructions to a "T", you should do well. -

Approved today! Now I am scared!!!
MICHELLE LEE replied to Sheila RN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My BMI was 41 when I had the VSG. I hurt everyday. Minor movements like rolling over in bed, sitting on the couch, or taking laundry upstairs hurt so bad. After the surgery, I feel awesome. I am down 44 lbs in 2 months. I no longer crave carbs , and the smallest amounts fill me up. The hardest part of this surgery for me was realizing that the old habits were gone, and it was time to make new ones. You will do great. Keep reading the board, and ask ?'s as much as you need to. We all did! -
Exercise and Water Consumption
MICHELLE LEE replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, the farther out I got, the more liquids I could consume a any given time. It still hurts to gulp. I think the key is to constantly drink, so that you avoid that "Oh my God Im soooo thirsty" felling. -
Make sure you research research research. That way you feel well informed going into surgery. This sleeve is awesome. I dont regret making this decision. Best of luck to ya![quote name='Gayleca895' timestamp='1297723638' post='116854'] My name is Gayle. I was originally going to have the Lap Band, but the surgeon doesn't want me to do it so he is suggesting the sleeve. I have decided on the sleeve and am pretty nervous about it. My surgery is April 6th

I too struggle with taking my Vitamins. Not because they make me sick, I just forget. -
Shakeology as a Meal/Vitamin Supplement
MICHELLE LEE replied to bugwitch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried it and didnt care for it. It is especially pricey. You could use it when you get to the full liquid stage. -
I think you can order the smaller bottles online. But not too sure if GNC stocks them..

Anybody head of this alternative to protein from food/shakes?
MICHELLE LEE replied to armstrong1003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Whey Protien shots by Body Fortress found at Walmart. 29G protien for 2.9 oz. Nasty stuff but a good way to get protien, collagen or not! -
Hi all, Tuesday will be my one month Surgiversary. The Dr. gave me the go ahead to start eating soft foods. I have been eating puree/mushy for the last two weeks. My question(s) is: 1) What should I be eating? If anyone could provide examples of what they ate at this stage , that would be great. 2) How many calories am I shooting for? So far I am able to eat warm string cheese, thin sliced deli meat, moist scrambled egg (but it sits heavy) As a side note....I have been at 222 for the last 8 freakin days. I know it is normal. But I love to see the scale move. It keeps me motivated. Thanks Michelle

I finally broke my stall today. I had been at 222 for the last ten days. This morning I dropped a pound. Had a good chat with my nut yesturday. She said dont count carbs. Just focus on getting AT LEAST 65 g protien a day with around 96 oz Fluid. So thats's what I did. And it worked! This is what I am eating today: B: Greek yogurt (11g) S: String cheese w/ 3 slices deli meat (13g) L: Atkins shake (15g) S: Greek Yogurt w/ Protien powder (37g) D: String Cheese (7g) S: Diet V8 w/ 1 scoop Miralax (keep things moving) Total: 83 g protien

Breakfast: Kroger Carbmaster Yogurt - (8g) Snack: cheese Stick (6g) Lunch: One scrambled Egg (7g) Snack: Body Fortress whey Protien Shot (26g), meatball (2g) dinner Atkins shake (15g), Total 64 g So far....46 oz Fluid. Still working on it.
