  1. Hi, I was actually looking for your blog, violinist with a band. I will checkit out. Glad you posted a comment. Anyhoo, I don't make crab cake, so I don't know what homemade tastes like. I just plan to cut in half and then quarters or something and keep it rolling. I think it will be fine. I do have a question for you since you seem to know a lot. I hear a lot of talk of "sliming" and "PBing" Can you explain what these are? Thanks,
  2. Yes, I may be going to a restaurant this weekend and I would like to be prepared. I probably will just get the crab cake and cut it in half. I dont' want the sauce. Thanks,
  3. So tomorrow the weekend officially starts and I'm a bit bummed. I would like to hang with friends, go to the movies, DO SOMETHING. But now that I think about it, everything seems to involve food. I used to invite friends to Clydes for drinks BUT I CAN'T DRINK YET and I am afriad to get tempted. Does anybody else have this problem. Also, I don't want to stay in the house because, before banding, I used to eat at home due to boredom. I'm a bit frustrated. I guess after all, I do eat to live..trying to change that. Also, any folks in NOVA, need some lap-band buddies!!
  4. I am addicted as well. I also look at the site on my IPHONE. You can't view pictures on the mobile site but you have access to all the forums and stuff. I come here often for support, to hear answers to questions people have asked that I didn't even think of. It's been very helpful and I am sure I have visited the site everyday for the past two weeks in some form or fashion. All the best ladies.

  6. Hi All, Tomorrow will be two weeks since my surgery. I am currently on mushy foods and doing what I think is a pretty good job. I am a bit concerned that my weight loss will stall for whatever reason, I mean it shouldn't since I am taking in significantly less calories than I was before surgery, but still concerned. My mushy diet consists of egg salad, grits, chicken salad, salmon, crushed chopped broccoli, lima Beans, apple sauce, etc. I am trying to get the most nutritional value out of each meal. But must admit, I have slightly been thinking about food. I guess that's normal. Anyway, I am curious to know what people are eating during their phase III of the diet, prior to your first fill. Essentially the time when you have no restriction and can eat as normal again. I belive some people refer it to "bandster hell." I am eager and hungry for weight loss and would like to be mentally prepared for this phase and to be able to lose weight during it (I am kind of looking forward to it, cause I don't feel normal eating all this mushy food, LOL). I'm gonna be in a wedding in May and want to surprise EVERYONE! Anyway, any advice would be great! I wish you all the best.
  7. Hey again, One of the biggest things I've been doing to stay motivated is of course, following this website. I also found a young lady on You Tube to follow named Newtoy4kt. But what I love is reading BLOGS. So far, I have been reading Chronicles from Band Land and some other ones. Is anybody blogging their journey so I can follow?!? Thanks, Not trying to be nosy, just looking for inspiration.
  8. Hey Ladies/Gents, Happy New Year to you. I am five days post op and been doing pretty well (knock on wood). My diet consists of sugar free popscicles, cream/liquid Soups, and sugar free pudding. It's been difficult getting in Protein my Protein drinks. I was thinking of buying like low fat ice cream to make some type of shake to drink the Protein shakes so it can serve as a meal because it'll take me one hour to drink one. Anyway, the reason I am here is I was wondering if anybody else was having gas problems. It's not terrible gas and I having been trying to walk around often just so I can burp. And I have yet to use the bathroom which concerns me. Is anybody taking Gas X or have the same problems I do. Just curious. Thanks,
  9. Just saw your Xmas pics. You look great. You go girl!! I'm just starting my journey (banded 12/28/10) and am definately motivated by your pics. Congrats!

    Gas problems

Ok, I get what everybody is saying. so Ice cream isn't a good idea. I'll completely nix the thought of it. I'll try to the carnation instant breakfast thing and ask my doctor about Gas X. That's why i love this site. Thanks for the suggestions

    can you feel the band??

It's been about three days since I had the surgery. My mother was changing the dressings this morning (she's been such a big help) and I could actually see it sticking out, but under the skin. The thing I am most concerned about is the port. It feels really heavy under my breast bone and sometimes itches. I know it will go away in time. I guess I just have to be positive.
  14. Tomorrow is the day...I'm kinda scared.

  15. I live in NoVa.. Near fairfax.. Let's stay in touch. Best of luck on your surgury.
  16. I am preparing for the second phase of my diet post op. Does anybody have any ideas for mush Breakfast lunch and dinners?!? Also, I need to purchase a food puree machine. Does anybody have any ideas!! Thanks, Happy Holidays
  17. Hey Folks, I am being banded on the morning of the 28th. I have been on a full liquid diet since the 22nd consisting of shakes, smoothies, and cream Soups. Today I drank the magnesium citrate to cleanse my bowls and today is also a clear liquid day. I am excited, but nervous for the surgery and nervous for the steps following. I wish you all the best of luck. keep in touch if you can.
  18. I just wanna say, that you look great!!!

  19. Hey folks, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all. I know a lot of people have been creating posts in regards to what they are looking foward to with the upcoming anticipation with weight loss. I know for me, the thing I'm looking forward to the most is having more conficdence and meeting more men. LOL Ladies...and Gents, stand up if you hear me. I know I am probably lame for this but I have never really put myself out there to meet guys. Sure when I was smaller and even at times when i was bigger, I would get advances. But I am just really really looking foward to feeling good about myself and sharing my company with somebody of the opposite sex. LOL, this is a silly post. Also, OMG In regards to the "Big Secret" post, one of my friends almost completely let the cat out of the bag. She is only one of three friends I have told about the procedure. On Facebook, I sent a mass message to like 15 friends asking for their address cause I just got a new address book. Well if you respond back to everyone and NOT just me..THEN everyone receives the responce. WELL SHE responded back to everyone with her address and is like "so when is your surgery" UGH!!!! I had to do damage control and was like "Nope, no surgery..." I mean, I know I am going to have to eventually tell everybody and I am fine with that, but I don't want everybody to know just yet, I haven't even had the surgery yet. I wish she hadn't done that. Anways, I guess things happen for a reason. Surgery date is the 28th. Start liquid diet on the 22nd. Best of luck to you all...
  20. Congrats on your weight loss. I am so sorry to here about your daughter and I hope she is doing well. I am set to have surgery on the 28th of December. I got all my pre-op testing done and just have the sleep study left. I am excited for the journey as well and would really just like to a decent change in my self and my environment in the year 2011. Plus I am looking for that weight track in the signature too. LOL Best of luck to you in the near future and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

  22. Got all preliminary tests done yesterday..have been asked to do a sleep study!

  23. Hi All, I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, I know I sure did. One thing I was constantly worried about during the break was my pending approval from Cigna for the surgery. So I wanted to ask a question! Last Monday the paperwork was submitted for approval. I called on Tuesday to see if everything had arrived. The CSR told me that it had and that they should have an answer as early as Wednesday. So I waited and waited and waited. I finally called this morning and was told by the Authorization department that the paperwork was still pending. That it had been through Benefits and that the Nurse would review it and the Doctor's office that it was sent from would know first if it had been approved or denied. So is it good or bad that it is still pending? I have been on pins and needles since last week?! Would love to hear anyone's thoughts?

"What if I F*** it Up"

My biggest thing is that I love rich food and I love sweets. I don't really emotionally eat unless you call boredom an emotion. I am still going to do this but am counting on the change in taste for things in really helping me take a big step back from sweets. Once this is done, I should be good to go. I'm just going to try to assist the band as much as I can and plan NOT TO FAIL!! Best of luck to you all. Friend me because I could use as much support as possible.
