    Excessive Belching

I had my 2nd fill a week ago and since fill have been belching a lot, not sure why all the belching now. What I've read says it is due to eating too fast, swallowing air, drinking too much tea, coffee. I wasn't hungry at all after surgery, but as soon as I had the 1st fill it was like a switch went off and I was hungry and have had no problem eating anything I want. Yes, I can't eat as much without getting uncomfortable, thank goodness. I asked the P.A. who does my fill to give me a bigger fill but he said they don't like to do more than 1 1/2 cc on 1st and 2nd fill. I hope my 3rd fill helps more. I know it has to be in my head and that if I eat carbs, I'll crave carbs. I don't think I'm drinking enough Water so maybe that is my problem. I need to get myself back on track. I haven't really started working out either. I need to tell myself that I like to work out, that I have to work out if I want to win this war with myself. All I've done so far is buy a pair of sneakers. I'm sure they fit, if I would just put them on.

First fill/ feel like I am eating more!!

Hmm! I should log in more often. My banding was Feb 3rd and my first fill of 1 1/2 cc was Mar 15th. I thought I was doing pretty good before the fill since if I ate too much I was uncomfortable. Sometimes my left side below ribs really hurts if I eat/drink too much. When I went to get my first fill I asked about this and was told pain on side was common, don't know why, it's just common. For my fill the assistant doctor said 1 1/2 cc is pretty standard. I could feel a little restriction as he was injecting the fill, but have felt hungrier since the fill. Is it just my head playing tricks on me. No one has really mentioned their fill procedure. My port site stung for rest of day and then bruised some. From talking to a friend who had been banded last year by a different doctor, her port is closer to her belly button off to one side; I was surprised to find my port is right under my breast bone. Also was surprized by the actual fill procedure. I asked the nurse if they did a guided fill and she said "oh he was there so doctor knows where the port is". They have you lay on your back, get stuck and leave. No guided fill, or numbing the site, or making sure you can drink Fluid before leaving. I just went back to work, like no big deal. Dr was nice enough and asked if I had any questions which was when I asked him about the side pain. Really, I didn't even know where my port was. Guess I just didn't know what to expect. My next fill is mid April which I guess will be another 1 1/2 cc. Hope I get some restriction with it. I know my biggest obstacle is probably in my head. Maybe I should eat with chopsticks to make sure my bites are tiny. Hope we all keep losing weight and winning the battle!

    My first blog.....

I was banded 2/3/11 and last couple weeks usually have two protein (30 grams each) drinks a day; one for breakfast and one in the afternoon. For lunch I usually have 1/2 cup refried beans or non/lowfat cottage cheese and have chicken or fish for dinner with maybe a few steamed green beans. Tonight I had about a cup of chili with beans. Sometimes I have a mini babybel light cheese if I'm still hungry at lunch. 64 ounces of liquid total a day too, 1/2 hour before or 1 hour after eating. On the weekends when I have more time I have scrambled eggs with a little cheese and salsa for breakfast. I am supposed to get my first fill next week. But even now before any fill, if I overeat I hurt. Good Luck and keep up the great work!
  4. Good Luck meluvnme! Hope you don't hurt too much. I was banded 2/3/11 and get my first fill 3/15 - not really looking forward to it. I still find myself forgetting to chew-chew-chew. Most of the last 4 weeks I've been sick with a head/chest cold, coughing my head off, then a sinus cold, on my second prescription for antibiotics, nurse told me I couldn't get a fill unless I got well. I am hoping the fill keeps me from being hungry. Good luck to you.
  5. Scheduled for surgery 2/3/11 through KC Bariatrics with Dr Hoehn. I started looking into bariatric surgery about 6 years ago. In my head I'm not really so fat so I guess it maybe doesn't consume my thoughts. I would definitely get around better if I lost 100 lbs or so. Work has caught onto those of us who leave the building before the fire alarm tests. lol!

    A date with destiny! 1-25-11

Congratulations! My date is set for Feb 3rd and I start the liquid diet on Jan 20. Good luck to all. I've been looking into it for about 5 - 6 years. I think I'm finally coming to grips with thinking I'm a failure because I haven't been able to keep it off on my own. I just need to get on with it. - Julia
