  1. I finally got some real exercise in today. Walked 30 min during my lunch break. I feel so good now. Wish I had another lunch break tonight so I could go do it again. lol

  2. Have been asked to be a maid of honor and the wedding is this December. I really wan to lose at LEAST 20lbs by then and more if possible. I want to look good in my dress. :)

    Newly banded and sleep

I slept in a recliner for a while, made it easier to get up. After that I slept on my back for a while and then on my side after about 1.5-2 weeks. I have never been a stomach sleeper, but you should be able to sleep on your stomach after about 2 weeks.
  4. How's it going? Haven't heard from you in a while.

Ugh not another band is a "tool" person

I'm still newly banded having gotten my first fill today so I may be wrong, but I thought if a banded person was unable to keep food down and had acid reflux it could be a sign of slippage or being too tight. Have you been checked for slippage? Just curious. Maybe this isn't the right tool for you. Thought about a revision to RNY or the sleeve? Hope you are able to get it straightened out. Sounds like a miserable place to be in. Good luck.

    The End of Summer Challenge

I forgot to post on Monday. Today I had my fisrt fill and weighed in at 213. Happy I lost 2 pounds considering the junk I ate at my kids B-day party over the weekend. Can't wait to go back in 2 wks and hopefully get another fill.
  7. Got my first fill today. I have a little more than 2cc's now. I know I probably won't get much restriction from this, but it's better than none and it's getting me closer to that sweet spot fill. Go back again in 2wks. :)

  8. Are you self pay or using insurance for the surgery? If you are using insurance then Absolutely! It's considered a condition that will possibly be cured by losing weight. If you are self pay that pose as a problem since you no longer have the machine. You may be required to get one and use it consistently before surgery. I have sleep apnea and my doctor required me to use my machine everyday before surgery and even bring it with me the day of surgery just in case. I ended up not needing it and never even took it out of the bag, but they did make me stay over night since I have sleep apnea. Definately talk to your doctor and find out what he/she requires for the surgery as far having sleep apnea. Good Luck!

    need to buy new scale

I spent about 15-20 dollars on a digital scale at wal-mart and it's accurate, gives me the name reading as the digital scale at my doctor's office. Don't need a fancy "as seen on tv" kind of scale, just something to let you kno where you stand.
  11. Got stuck on toast today and boy did it hurt. I slept too long so I didn't have enough time to eat properly before leaving for work. Made eggs and toast and ate too fast. Had to drink something to push it through. Lesson learned. If that happens again I will either take it with me or drink a shake.

  12. First off, I want to say I'm a happy mom, my son turned 6 today! Time is flying by. Ok, now to get to my update. I have come to the realization that I have been worying too much about this band. I have had some swelling and soreness at my port area and thought it should have been healed by now since I am almost 4 wks post-op. Thanks to my good friend Holly for bringing back down to earth and pointing out that the swelling can last 6-8 weeks. I feel better now. Going to try to stop thi...

  13. Excited and nervous about this weekend. Having a birthday part for my kids this Saturday and hoping I can get through the day without being really, really bad.

How do i find a surgeon?

you can actually find surgeons on this web site. Look in the upper RH corner of the screen and you should see a tab labeled SURGEONS. Click on that and you can begin looking for certified surgeons in your area. You can also go to the lab band web site www.lapband.com to find a certified surgeon near you. Or try this one http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/842-chicago/ Good Luck! ~Sheri

    Carbonated Drinks

If you decide to try them make sure you do it VERY moderately beacause they are emty calories that add up quickly. I haven't tried any since weeks before banding, but my dad had the by-pass surgery and drinks them just fine. But then again, he has also gained back most of his weight too. Good luck!

Wow! you did have quite a day! Glad you're ok and I totally don't blame you for looking for a new doctor. Sounds like you were probably right about those dollar signs.

Cash Fees Not Covered by Insurance

Speak to the surgeon and find out what those charges are for. Maybe it's something you don't need and won't be required to pay. If it is required then find a new surgeon. Good luck! Hope everything goes well in your weight loss journey.
