    My Situation-Opinions please

Well it does sound like you could greatly benefit from the surgery, but only your doctor can decide if you are a good candidate based on your health issues. You will more than likely have to have many, many tests like a lot of here to determine that. This is probably not the answer you were looking for, but I hope it was informative. Good luck.

PORT LOCATIONS : there ARE options

Mine is just a few inches below my rib cage on my RH side. Doesn't bother me at. High enough from the waist of pants and low enough from my ribs.
  16. Got stuck on hamburger today and PB'd with slime for the first time. It was horrible. Very, Very painful. Still learning everyday.

    antibiotics question

Were you told specifially not to swallow capsules by your lapband doctor? My doctor said taking pills is fine. It should disolve in your pouch and then pass through without any problems.
  18. I don't know why I am excited about it being Friday night when I am at work and won't get off til 5am tomorrow. Guess it's because I have plans to go bowling with my kids tomorrow night. :)

Its hard for me to Eat 3 Meals a day!

Don't worry, it will get easier with fills. I had a hard time with it too and it got easier after my 2nd fill and even more easier after my 3rd. Now at 4cc's I become full very quickly, but I am hungry much sooner than I was before. So I am finally at the place where I feel like I need to eat every 4 hours. And you will get there too. Be strong. You can do this! Good Luck! :welldoneclap:

    What is a Fill

The lap band is a device that is secured around the upper portion of the stomach to create a smaller stomach pouch. The band can be tightened by inserting saline through a port that is attached to your abdominal wall. This will allow you to eat small portions and be satisfied for several hours without a hungry feeling. As you lose weight, the band will need to be tightened. You can find out more details at www.lapband.com. You will be able to find a doctor at that site or you can find one on this site by clicking on the surgeons tab in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Most lapband doctors require a referral from your PCP.
  21. First of all, I'm sorry to hear you have had so many complications, but it does seem to me that your body may be rejecting the band you have and if that is the case it may do the same with another band, but then again, band have been upgraded and maybe a new one would work. Now, that being said, I am not a doctor so the best advice I can give is do your research. Check out all aspects of the bypass. You're off to a good start coming here and asking questions. Keep asking. Anything you can think of. That way you can make a well informed decision of what's best for you. My dad had the GB and he lost 100lbs in the first 6-8 months. Then he stalled and has since gained back everything. He still eats small portions, but he eats whatever he wants and eats all day. He never has that full feeling like I have with the lapband. I can eat a small portion and be satisfied, completely not hungry at all for several hours. He does not have 10 bowel movements a day, just the opposite. Has constipation problems. He takes a handful of pills everyday to make sure he gets all the nutrients he supposed to since his insides were re-routed and that causes malabsorption which is supposed to cause the weight loss that he is still struggling with. I am not trying to persuade you in either direction, just stating some facts to help you with you decision.Good Luck. I hope it works out for you.
  22. Can't wait to get back on day shift. One more week, but it feels like an eternity!

    Post Op Help Day 5

I ate little bites of things here and there through out my liquid period too. Never more than just a few bites but enough to stop the starvation feeling and amoung those things were ramen noodles. I did not use a straw during my first week post-op but have been ever since then and I have to issues with it. Just listen to your body. Don't over do it. Take things slow with several minutes between each bite so you know when to stop. And you should stop when you have a comfortable full feeling not over stuffed like after Thanksgiving meals. Good Luck, Hope this helps!
  24. Took about 10 days before mine started peeling. It was all gone before I had my first post op check up. Itches doesn't it? It pulled the little hairs on my skin when it came off and that hurt a tiny little bit but it felt so good to have it off.
  25. Had my 3rd fill today. Up to 4cc's now and lost 6 more pounds! :)
