No, I live on the west side of Elgin near the high school but there is an office by the Sear's Centre which is way easier to get to then Alexian...The week you had liquids, were you real hungry ro was your body just in shock from the surgery. I was so happy to hear that there wasn't much pain. I know another lady in my neighborhood who is a little older than I am who is having it or may have had it in July...I need to call her and get her into our "group" It eases my mind so much to hear that it was good for you.

YOU CAN DO IT!! One day at a time!!
-
I will finish my 3 months in the next two weeks...I forget which day and then they will submit everything to my insurance company. I guess, then we wait. I am a little anxious about having to do this liquid stuff at school but I guess I'll just have to be organized. There is a refrigerator in our office. I am a counselor so my time is my Fluid than a teacher so I think it will ber fine. Do you have to eat (drink) at certain times? or so far apart? Have you gone to any of those classes or support groups since your surgery. They keep saying how important they are but Alexian is kind of a hike from Elgin. I wish they had some of them at their office by the Sears Centre. How do other people react to your changes?

My doctor suggested it. I had it in my mind because there is a young girl at my church who did it and lost over a hundred pounds. I just decided that every "ailment" I had was connected to my being overweight. I was still active, but on the border of becoming diabetic. I decided that I wanted my life back. I am 53 and knowing that nothing would get better or easier as I aged, it is up ot me to make the change. I only wish I had thought if this earlier...I don't want to worry about fitting in a seat at the movies or airplanes, etc. I want to feel good and be more active and a good example to my children who also are somewhat overweight. I hope mine goes as well as yours did. Did they have you see a nutritionist and psychologist? I have been working on the chewing and portion size. I do okay when I'm home with not drinking, but struggle when I'm at a restaurant. It's more social I guess. I didn't know about the e-store. I have some whey Protein powder that I got from Walmart...do they give you some guidelines about this stuff. Do they have you take Vitamins? Have you experienced hair loss that they talk about? You have done so well...you are my official "idol"...I want to do it just like you did!!

Thank you so much and I'm soooo glad it went smoothly for you. Did you ever throw up? I so, don't want to do that. I work at a high school and will not be able to take off too much time so am trying to figure out what I will need to take along with me. Do they have you drink Protein shakes? What do they do about your medication? I have had all the required tests (stress, pulmonary, psychological and the class required. How long did it take your insurance to approve it. I had lost 36 pounds, but seem to be struggling lately and have gained a few back...ugh, here we go! Did the fill hurt? CONGRATULATIONS on doing so well. One of the hardest things for me to learn is to not drink Water while I'm eating. It is so hard for me....what types of food are you eating?

I, too, am using the Kane Center though I have a different doctor. I am still in the preliminary stages...getting everything done for my insurance approval. I 'm guessing my surgery will be sometime in September. I am so curious...can you give me a run down on what you had to do the weeks before surgery and how it went and afterwards...how are you doing now? What are you eating? I am worried aobvut managing at work right after surgery...any pointers?

30 lbs is awesome...think of 2 bowling balls...you lost 2 bowling balls, girl!!

You are both such inspirations...i am getting ready for my surgery though no date has been set yet as my insurance required a 3 month supervised diet...couple more weeks of that, but I've lost 36 pounds so far. I have come down a couple sizes but can't wait to wear "normal" misses sizes someday in the near future!! My husband and I have started walking but his legs are so much longer! Tell me how to find out about this "wogging program"...

Hello! I have never written a blog before but am anxious to get started. I have made the decision to have lapband surgery...maybe in September. My insurance requires a three month supervised diet before approval. I am in my last month and have lost 32 pounds. I am struggling right now...right on target with my past history! I saw a different doctor than the one who recommended this, in the practice, and he tried to talk me out of the surgery since I was doing so well! This really messed me up. I tried to explain to him that I have lost 20-40 lbs MANY times and then gain it back, plus 20! He actually said, "IF YOU WERE MY MOTHER, I'D TELL YOU NOT TO DO AND JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING"!! I don't know why this is bothering me so much, but I totally allowed it to sabotage me last night. I've done better today but am afraid I will start slipping backwards. Any suggestions out there! Also, I am really curious about life after lapband...both the immediate and the long term.

Thanks for givng me some well needed support. I am glad that guy is not my regular doctor. I was somehow able to get back on track and abandon my worst habit of eating late at night...I made it through last night and tonight so all is good. I want to break into the next scale zone...the 230's so I need to start exercising. Dusted off the stationary bvike and did 15 minutes. Not the best but a start...longer tomorrow!

REsale and Thrift Shops are great, especially while you're still losing and changing sizes...I have lost 33 lbs on my way to 130 and bought 3 pairs of pants for 9.60 at our local resale shop...I won't feel bad when I shrink out of them!! ha

What is this "unfill" I hear people speaking about??? Congrats to everyone and your successes. You are all so brave and I appreciate your sharing your experience to make it easier for those of us behind you! Keep up the good work!

Just curious about life at 6 months. What/how much are you eating at this point? How do you know when to get a fill?

Your parents are an amazing support, fgull of love for you. Getting healthy is worth the sacrifice. Dark chocolate is the best!! Have you tried those individual Dove's. Just one can be satisfying. My nutritionist says to always eat the protein first, then the fruit or vegie and if you're still hungry, the starch. I am still preparing and doing what is required by my insurance company so that they will approve me next month. I a learning alot about the lifestyle changes necessary for success. Some are realy hard for me-especially not drinking water or anything while eating a meal. I can't seem to be able to do that all the time. I'll persevere! Best of luck to you. I think you're doing great...accept the help of others, that's what makes them happy!

I, too, am new to all of this. You summed up the feelings perfectly! I also don't like being put to sleep in anticipation of pain on the other side! You will do great coz you have a positive attitude and acknowledge your true feelings. Next Friday is amazing...I don't have approval or a date yet. I'm thinking it will be in September. I am worried about how much work I will have to miss since I work at a school...every day matters. But I know, my health comes first. Best of luck next week. What are you doing about your husband/family's food?
