I had gastric bypass almost 6 years ago & I lost over 60 pounds! This past December my best friends both got me tshirts. The shirts were very thoughtful, I was touched by both of the shirts they got me & how meaningful they would be to me, BUT I just realized that both of the tshirts are a size 2xl! They still have body dysphoria of me 6 years later!!!! It’s hard enough for me to deal with but it’s a whole other ballgame when your best friends don’t see it!!!! Sorry, I just had to rant & I don’t have anyone else to rant about this too since my best friends obviously don’t see me for the size I am now!

I am so excited; I am having surgery in two days. Everyone is asking me am I ready? My answer is yes, I am too prepared and ready to go! I was supposed to have my surgery last Tuesday but had to get it rescheduled because the surgeon was out ill and therefore had to reschedule for this coming Tuesday. I have been looking at all my before pics and looking at myself now, I am so filled with joy how far I have come. This has and is an amazing journey and I can't wait to get back to my old self again. I am so happy that I made the decision to do the surgery. I have no regrets about my decision. I know am I doing the right thing by investing in myself and becoming more healthier and looking at food differently now. I now know what it means by "Mindful Eating."

    Weight Stall at 10 months

Hello everyone! Question on weight stall. I had my surgery in May of 2024. I have not lost weight quickly but steadily and I am down 63 lbs. I have seem to stall for months 9 and 10 and then all of a sudden I lost .80 lbs in the last week. Has anyone gotten to month 8-10 and stalled and then started losing weight again? I have another 30 to go and I am hoping this is not where my body is comfortable. Also I have lost significant weight all across my body but still have a belly and abdomen. Of course it is smaller than it was but it just seem anything has budged from there for the longest time. I do have lymphodema in my from breast cancer so I am hoping it is not a solidifying of any lymphatic fluid (I have the massage machine and do manual massages). So I am hope it is just being stubborn. Thank you for any comments and personal stories with your journey you have regarding this.

    Weight Stall at 10 months

Hey! Stalls are really common, and I think around this point in the post-op journey it does seem to hit! My weight loss has stopped at the moment, but my surgeon did say to me that a stall is only really considered a stall when you have been stuck at the same weight for around 6-8 weeks! just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing, eating well, keeping hydrated and getting some form of exercise in and hopefully it'll break soon ❤️

    Weight Loss Stalled on LRD

So the reality is that we can't cheat physics. I want you to remember this both now and after your surgery. While I can't make an super accurate assessment of your total kcal expenditure per day right now, I'd guess it's probably in the range of 3000 to 4000 kcal per day based on your current weight. I'd also guess that your total intake right now is around 800-1000 kcal. This means you are absolutely burning massive amounts of fat currently. So I know you're thinking if that's true, then why isn't it reflected on the scale? The short answer is scales lie. They only show total weight, but as you alluded to above, our bodies are made up of lots of "stuff" other than fat, so scale weight can vary widely just based on how hydrated you are, how much glycogen you're storing, and the weight of your stool. In short, trust the process. You'll be fine.

    Food Fatigue?

While I am a foodie and looove to try new foods, recipes and going out to eat (you would not catch me repeating meals). I have been eating much less the past couple of weeks, I have borderline lost my appetite and eating feels like a chore. I can probably take 3 bites comfortably before I feel my restriction and I hate that pressure feeling, it is so intense and borderline painful, so I just dread eating sometimes.

    I did it!

Well after months of classes and clearances I finally had my surgery yesterday (March 20). I am actually doing great! No pain only pressure from the gas and soreness. I’m very pleased so far. The nurse that called to check on me asked if I was sure I had surgery because no one does this well after surgery. LOL.
