Congrats on your weight loss! Major WIN love it! I'm only 11 months postop and I went from my heaviest 313 to now my smallest I believe 179. (I don't own a scale 😮) I'm really metabolically well, no longer on any diabetes medications, which is a major win. I do not want to get bogged down with reaching the lowest weight. I'm in various bariatric groups and I noticed a reoccurring event, People are consumed with the lowest weight and they're also overconsumed with stalls in which stalls happen. In fact I believe I'm in a stall now. Get as low as you like just try not to become over consumed with that number lean into being metabolically well. From my analysis on various groups that number plays with a lot of people's mental health and some people seem to never be satisfied with their current loss. We can't live like that!

    Brand New Here

Welcome and congrats on your decision to have surgery! And for joining here. These peeps have answered so many questions for me. There is a wealth of knowledge here! Having surgery has been great for me. Had mine Dec 2 last year so it's only been a few months and I'm down 45 lbs. Yay! Yes, in hindsight, I'd have done this before if I could have really afforded it. Insurance now pays for it on our plan so I got it! Was so happy! I'm sure I could have saved up for it but with 3 kids years all in sports, etc years ago I would never have used the money for me. I love them all so much. What I had was theirs. 💗 Proud of them all. All hard-working, law-abiding adults except my daughter who will be a JR in high school this fall and she works part-time and gets to school on time every day. 😊 Time sure has flown by! I miss them being little. 😞 Anyway! So happy for you. I would much rather do this than take any drug! Glad you are pursuing it! Keep us updated on when you have surgery, etc. I know you'll do great!! 😍

I did it! Made it to Onederland

Thank you, girlie!! I'm so super excited!! Finallyyyyyyy. LOL! I feel so much better than at 244. Worlds apart! This has been my first goal for so many years. Getting under 200. Years ago I went from 277 to 177 by getting in 10k steps a day and eating very clean. Then slowly gained over many years. Then I got down to 200.6 from 2021 to 2022 and had been 265 lbs. (But lost 100 twice and over 60lbs 3 times in my life. Always came back though.) This time I started at 244 and now am around 198, didn't weigh today. But NEVER going back to the 200s. NEVER. It's too hard to lose and when I gain it's just fat usually and makes me feel weaker. And I know I lose some muscle every time I lose. But muscle is hard to gain. Not good. So as long as I eat under what I burn I'm good! Forever! And it's much, much, much easier with the surgery than ever was before when I lost. Always felt hungry. I do now sometimes even if I'm full but eating 3 bites, I imagine anyone would feel hungry still. But working a lot more now on purpose too. It's helping A LOT! Staying busy is the best thing! I read that action is the best antidote to anxiety!! And it's very true. 💗

Homemade Almond Croissant Oat Bake No 'afters' but three more for the coming days, shown on a small side plate Icing sugar I could have done a better job of sprinkling on top, will know for next time plus I did not include sliced almonds as a topping (as I had forgotten I had already eaten them!) https://thehappypear.ie/plant-based-and-vegan-recipes/almond-corissant-baked-oats/

Yeah I have to do a B12 injection every two months also, forgot about that as I have had to do that for more than 10 years now.

    Happy 64th to me!

Happy belated 64th birthday! I sure hope you are stressing less and less as you inch through the home stretch to retirement! Congrats on your weight loss achievement and continued success. Thanks for sharing your journey! Yes, there are still surgeons who perform Lapband. I just had a consult last week. I've spoken with a few doctors how are against the other radical, irreversible procedures. There is more money in these than lapband and many of them have abandoned their lapband patients altogether. Even if I were a candidate (My BMI not high enough) I would NEVER consider removing stomach after watching my sister slowly waste away to nothing and die over a course of 5 years because of a botched procedure. Countless doctors and nurses at her bedside ICU would tell me they wished they would stop doing these surgeries because there is nothing that can be done to fix complications once they arrive. I have to do self pay for the procedure and they can schedule it pretty much anytime. My only real concern is additional out of pocket $ for complications such as rejection, slippage, dilation, etc. You're success and happiness is great to know as I contemplate taking the lapband leap! Thanks and best wishes!

I'm back again after a few years

Maxed out restriction but didn't really "do" anything, spent a while trying to get things right and just never could get to where I was properly restricted, I could eat pretty much anything except leafy greens or things that didn't break down into a puree. Dropped 70lbs, then couldn't lose anything else no matter what I did. Tracked intake, output etc etc etc, just, stuck. Turned out my band was 100% encapsulated with scar tissue. Took over 3 times longer to remove than it should have, gave my surgical team a run for their money!

I'm back again after a few years

Welcome back I know for me this site is like an accountability group for me. When I stay away I lose that accountability and my weight start to go up. Even though their are fewer Lap band poster than before I do appreciate the fact that it is never to late to restart. My wife and I both got a lap band in September 2007. A few years ago she had to have it taken out for the sleeve because of health issues not related to the band. I carry about 1 cc of fluid in my 4 CC anymore than that is a little too tight for me. My wife and I and some friends did a 7 day Mexican Rivera Cruise in April and I gained a couple of lbs but managed to get that off when we came back.
