yep. mine still talks to (sometimes screams at) me, and im 6+ years out! often times i can FEEL the noises as well. though lately in the past few weeks, ive started to feel the rumbling not just in my abdomen, but also in my back! weird. we theorize its because i’ve got so thin lately that the rumbling can be felt everywhere as there is less mass to “travel” through or buffer the gastro “tremors”…*shrug*

    Any 50yo or older?

At 65 - I am happier, healthier and slimmer than when in college! And, I will be a much smaller bride for 30th anniversary + vow renewal this April. Congratulations to all who took this courageous journey as an older adult! You are to be celebrated. Keep up the good fight...

    Light headed and clammy

As the above have said it is a bit of a rollercoaster ride after this surgery. I also carried a drink and a protein bar everywhere I went. I would have what I called dizzy spells quite often. I had to come off my blood pressure medications really early out. I had to take extra care when getting up in the morning and find a chair back to hold while the world steadied around me.

If you're worried about your blood sugar, get a glucometer and test yourself. Consuming some protein will bring up your blood sugar in a few minutes. As @Arabesque said, your body is going through a lot of changes and it can cause weakness. I, too, had bouts (and still do) of low blood pressure. We just have to keep an eye on it, but they're not doing anything to treat it. If you think this might be a concern, you can also get a blood pressure cuff and keep an eye on it at home. I am also now hypoglycemic. I keep protein shakes on hand to help treat my low sugar episodes. If you're taking any medications to treat your prediabetes, or any blood pressure issues, they might need to adjust your dosages.

Thank you for your insight. Yes my surgeon knows about me working out two hours a day and he is happy with my progress. He is only concerned that I am not consuming more food. I don't feel like eating much. I just focus on protein. I will try not to worry about weight loss. Thank you again

Conquering the Beast: I am here to report a win. I have conquered the beast and that is the TREADMILL. I used to have the utmost disdain for the treadmill. I never wanted to be on it and I always exercised outside on the walking/running trail. So I mentally meditated and conditioning my mind to imagine my favorite walking trail, which has hills, my favorite trees, and I follow the same trail on the treadmill. I meditated on all the trees that I meet, all my markers and I have been able to successfully enjoy the treadmill! major win. So this means that I have no excuses to not move. I can no longer say oh it's cold outside so I can't go on my favorite walking trail so I won't exercise movement is me, and I am movement.

    A Change is Coming...

I don't think there is anything to come out what way! 😆 I will definitely keep that on mind, though!! Today is still painful so far. I have pain meds to take in a few minutes so that will help. I'm going to take them and then shower. I think once I get into a good rhythm I'll be okay. I'm just a huge baby about taking medicine.

Before, during, after I eat or even drink sometimes. Just whenever it likes. And yes still does though probably not as much now at almost 6yrs out. I was told it’s perfectly normal too and just my digestive system doing what it’s supposed to: digest food. I used to say I had a poltergeist in my tummy. Groaning, moaning, rattling chains, squelching & whining. My younger nieces & nephew used to think it was hilarious and they’d rest their head on my tummy to hear it better.

Stalls or plateaus are very normal with weight loss so you’re not failing. Frustrating, yes but not a sign of failure. Almost everyone experiences them. Literally thousands of posts about them here. The first one (yes first because you can experience a few along the way) usually occurs around the 3 week mark though sometimes they occur before then or after. A stall can last around 1-3 weeks. Stalls are a stress response. Your body thinks what the hell is going on here and shuts down. It uses the time to reassess your new needs (like what changes need to occur with your digestive hormones) as a result of the weight loss, changed caloric intake, surgery, etc. compare it with when you experience psychological or emotional stress and just want to shut the world out until you feel able to deal with the stress. Same for your body’s response to physical stress. Stick to your plan. Don’t stress your body more. The stall will break when your body is ready. Take some body measurements as sometimes, while the numbers on the scale don’t change, your measurements may. Though every plan and advice given is different, two plus hours a day of workouts is actually a lot this soon after surgery. Your body is still recovering and healing (lots of sutures and staples holding your digestive system together). Is your team aware of how much & what activities you’re doing? If not I’d check with them. Dr Matt Weiner (pound of Cure) is a great resource as is Dr John Pilcher. Check out their videos on You Tube (they have a lot so prepare to scroll). I‘ve included Dr Weiner’s on stalls as a start and to help alleviate your worries. He does podcasts too. Glad the vomiting has eased.

I was in the same boat. I had surgery on January 22nd, 2025 and my birthday was this past Sunday (February 16th). My surgery was my birthday present to myself. My son offered to take me somewhere to eat, but I told him I couldn't and he was okay with that and so was I. There will be a time when I can have something, but for me it will be much later in my process. Happy belated birthday.
