Happy New Year! So glad I have you guys to help me through this journey! I don't always start the new year feeling great about making changes but that's different this year because of surgery. I have always made some kind of goal or resolution to lose weight or workout more over the years and have always felt like I "failed", but this year, I think I'm going to leave weight loss goals behind and just enjoy the ride as I continue to lose weight. Even though I still have about 60 lbs I want to lose, having lost over 40 lbs has made me feel so much lighter and better in my body. I want to focus on the positives and not so much the long ways I still have to go, because that feels like thats how my life has always been, such as "I will do this when I lose weight..." or "I will buy that dress when I lose weight...". I'm tired of waiting and hope to live more fully and authentically this year. Anyways... I'm rambling. I'm just really wanting to change my mindset and focus on positives.

I'm almost 3 months post op and gone from a UK24 to size UK16. I haven't been that weight in years. This time last year, I never would have even thought it was possible. This time 6 months ago when I was approved for surgery, I never even thought any of this would be possible! My knees hurt less when walking, although my butt hurts because I have less padding, so sometimes I actually prefer to stand. Never thought I would do that. I do sometimes still grieve food but not for the reasons I thought. I grieve the way I used to be in some ways because my best friend and I would get together and eat and we don't really have that anymore. We are still trying to find other things we can do together. But also, sometimes I grieved I can't order a pizza or other takeaway anymore because I live alone and don't have anyone to share it with so to avoid wastage, I actually need to cook even if I'm too tired. This year, I'm going to get my health on track and finally move out of London. I can't afford to live here anymore and I want a new start. Now that I know goals that seemed impossible are now achievable, I want to start new goals.

    January 2025 Surgery Buddies!

Day two, not loving the shakes for lunch and breakfast, currently using the "glow" shakes by Collegen co here in Australia they are not too sweet, but not like a whey based one, not really creamy, a bit sort of slimy.. but so far I am coping ok, at least I get to have a good low carb meal at night, tonight a chicken and vegetable stir fry, with cauliflower rice, it was gooood too. We got this January buddies!!

omg same. in the immediate years after WLS i would always wear snugger fitting clothes because i felt they "highlighted" my skinniness more. these days (and basically the past 3 or so years), outside of my workout gear and the odd fancy-night-out, i wear way more relaxed-fit clothing. its just waaaaay more comfy, lol. as cher horowitz would say: I know it sounds mental, but sometimes I have more fun vegging out than when I go partying. Maybe because my party clothes are so binding. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
