Two Big Wins today. First I reached 50 pounds loss today but more importantly I reached a goal in my flex-ability. When I started Yoga I could barely reach past my knees if I’m being honest. The teacher suggested that I get some yoga blocks which are shaped like big wide bricks but made of foam. Well after a few tries of breathing deeper I was able to reach it just barely to touch my fingertips when it was up tall ways. I went from that to being able to do my flat hand on there to this morning where I can finally touch it with it turned down on its side the shorter way. Just with my fingertips and only after a few tries so I am a long ways from the floor still but considering it’s only been like a month I am pretty ecstatic to have improved that much. Now I need to add in something to work on my arm strength. Some of the poses take a lot more strength than I have to support my body weight.

    Spinach made my teeth weird.

Never experienced this or heard of it either. How weird. Maybe throw the spinach in the omelette for the last minute or so or before you fold/roll it so it cooks a little?? I knew it was hard on your kidneys but only because a friend with an autoimmune disease if her kidneys isn’t allowed it.

    Spinach made my teeth weird.

I am a little over two months post SADI and I have been trying new fruits and veggies and trying ones I didn’t like before and finding that aside from mushrooms which was a texture thing I don’t mind them as much. Well I have been eating spinach a handful of times with my egg white omelette for lunch since surgery. This time, though, it made my teeth (my whole mouth actually) really really dry and tasted funny. I had to google to see what was going on. It’s a certain acid that’s in the spinach that is usually reduced when you cook it but apparently this batch of spinach had more or something. I brushed my teeth and had a glass of water and it’s reduced significantly but It was just really weird. I seriously thought maybe I was having a stroke or something and that was the metallic taste people talk about. Anyways, just thought I’d give a heads up for anyone else experimenting with new veggies that spinach can do this. Also it says to watch your intake if your high risk for kidney stones so if that applies and your dr didn’t mention this you may want to ask about that. Anyways if this happens and you just had spinach you’re probably fine, just brush your teeth. 😆

A basic tomato sauce for pasta. 2 onions chopped, 4 cloves of garlic crushed, or 1 tablespoon out of a jar, 2 tins of chopped tomatoes [ we have 400gm tins in the Uk, 10 ounces ] 1 teaspoon of dried oregano or 2 teaspoons of chopped fresh oregano. 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Salt and pepper. Pinch of sugar Fry the onion slowly in the oil, you do not want much colour on it. When its slightly translucent you can add the garlic and the other ingredients. Simmer gently for about 30 minutes. You can blitz this sauce smooth or leave it chunky. Add your seafood to this basic sauce, clams and mussels only take a few minutes to cook. To make this recipe your own, you can add to the basic tomato sauce. Add chopped mushrooms to the pan after the onions have cooked and then follow the basic recipe and you have a fab meatball sauce when blitzed Add chilli flakes and a few anchovies to the cooked onions and your tomato sauce is going heaven wards when chopped olives and a few capers are added at the end. Find a no nonsence cook you like, I like Nigella Lawson, she is all about flavour and easy to do for busy people. Stick to their recipes. Looking at more than one persons recipes does confuse and cloud the issue.

I drink matcha every day and I also have mushroom coffee. It comes out to about 60mg of caffeine total per day. Less than a regular cup of coffee but juuuuust enough to give me a little bit of "get up and go". I stayed away from all caffeine for about 6 months, then had matcha twice per week for 2 months, then added the mushroom coffee twice per week 2 months after adding the matcha. Now I drink them daily and it's all good.

I've been making Greek yogurt and skyr for years. I also use my instant pot. Lots of recipes for both yogurt and skyr online (skyr is made the same way, except you add a couple of drops of rennet, and it doesn't culture for as long (about five hours rather than the eight or so hours for yogurt).

    TORe Procedure

Yes, I had my TORE procedure on May 4. It went very smoothly, and the only way I knew I'd had surgery was that I had a very slight sore throat from the endoscope. I haven't had any issues with vomiting, etc. and have lost 29 lbs. The pouch was resized from 10cm to 8cm and the opening was resized from 54mm to 8 mm.
