    REVOLVING TOPIC ON MAINTENANCE

    yea maintenance takes A LOT of getting used to since nearly all of us have never been in this position before - or haven't in years. I was always gaining weight or trying to lose weight the whole time I was obese. if you are maintaining on your current level of calories, then stick with that until it's no longer working - and then adjust up or down as needed. Calorie levels change if your activity levels change, or as you get older, or whatever. What I did for a long time was set an "oh crap" weight (for example, 160 lbs) and once I reached that, it was all hands on deck until I was safely back in my safe zone again. So something like that might work for you, too. But yes, maintenance is definitely hard to get used to!

    My hubby and I went car shopping today and I was able to handle the heat a great deal better. It was still hot but 43 pounds heavier I would’ve been dying out there and we were out for a couple of hours midday. Ooh and also, I didn’t know what the day may bring (you know how long they can keep you working out a deal) so I packed a couple of protein shakes for lunch and dinner just in case. I didn’t end up needing them but if I had it would’ve been a huge win since I would’ve been starving and had something I shouldn’t without them. So getting in the habit of being prepared for the unexpected (food wise) is my win.

    As of yesterday, I was back under 200 pounds, so that was an exciting milestone! I have been tracking my food, walking each day, doing a long hike on the weekends, and the weight has been coming off at the expected pace. I am averaging about 1300 calories a day in consumption and my watch says I am averaging about 2300 calories a day of burn, which works out to an average calorie deficit of 1000 per day and I am right on that target of losing 2 pounds per week. I am really pleased that my metabolism seems normal and that my restriction still prevents me from eating too much in a single sitting. I had a long chat with my husband about how "dieting" is so different this time around from when I had lost weight pre-surgery. This is my first time really trying to lose weight since my surgery and it is definitely much easier than it used to be.

    Well, hopefully, I will be reporting back later today with an even better win that I could do more physically than I am expecting, but for now I feel like it is a pretty big win that I’m even planning to go to yoga this morning. Given that I haven’t done any type of exercise in over 20 years, the fact that I even considered a group fitness class is a pretty big win for me. Maybe someday I will be half as fit as @ms.sss is there In her photo. I would be thrilled with that.

    Blood in stool after vgs

    Definitely do check with your surgeon just to be on the safe side, but I have definitely experienced this quite a lot post-surgery! For me, it is because of the constipation - sometimes I get little tears and this results in bright red blood in the loo! Keep an eye on the colour of the blood, and if it is actually IN your stools, or just in the water.

    today's win: i got compliments from fitness "professionals" i respect. first, this morning : a personal trainer and handstand workshop leader. during intake, i explained that i consider myself very flexible, but not very strong. then he shook his head, and said "well you LOOK strong", and patted my bicep 💪🏼 lololZzz second, this evening: at yoga class, one of my fave instructors asked me if i would be interested in modeling for a fitness photographer friend of hers for his portfolio because, in her words, i am "super toned". who me???? thats just nuts. a pic Mr. took of me this afternoon on the front porch steps...

    Sleeve revision to sedis-s

    Yes, it is okay!! It was kind of embarrassing for me to but I believe it was 26% of sleeves that need to be revised between GERD and inadequate loss or regain. We are not alone. My surgeon said that the sleeve is a really great surgery for many people but obesity is complex and some people just need a greater metabolic change that the SADI should give you. It’s a very exciting journey. I’m excited for you to get started. There is another thread titled “Sadi is so lonely” that I started when I was considering the SADI and couldn’t find many answers to my questions. You can see if you skim over it how lost I was back then but you will likely get the attention of many people who also had the SADI surgery if you post any specific questions you have on there.
