    Wanted - 2 New Knees!

I love how positive you are - and it sounds like you are on the right track for you, and it is at the right time! Yes, you have a journey ahead of you, but it sounds like you are going to smash it and achieve everything you want with both of these surgeries!

    4 weeks post op

I was given cream of chicken soup with bits in it at the hospital day 1 after surgery. I was still hopped up on anesthesia at the time and called a nurse in to question why. She took my spoon and looked at it, then said the bits weren't big enough to cause a problem???? I thought well...it is a bariatric hospital so I ate it. It did taste wonderful and thankfully nothing got stuck in my incisions but I still question it. In fact a relative of mine recently had WLS and on a phone consult within week 1 with same hospital nurses, was told to try a bit of bread for nausea??? I immediately remembered the soup they gave me and am now really questioning the nurses at that hospital and their knowledge of care for bariatric patients. I tried calling them to inquire about their iffy advice but never heard back. I need to call my bariatric team nutritionist to give them a heads up. As for OP question about salty cravings. Soup. Bouillons, strained cream soups and my fav... egg drop soup strained from a local Chinese restaurant. I even used a Vitamix to pulverize any bits that could cause problems later on. Good luck on your journey @Sami2209.

    Struggling to slow down

am struggling with knowing when to slow down. I am 7 days post op, and I am really struggling with not being where I was activity wise before surgery. When I am walking around, though I might be slow, I am not feeling myself get worn out until I finally sit down, and then I fall asleep so hard, that it is difficult to wake me. My surgeon is super insistent that I should be back to my regular daily activities, and that I should not be taking frequent rests, but I find that I am just overdoing it. I have 4 kids, oldest is 11 and youngest is almost 3, but I am so drained I don’t know how I am going to manage going back to work 14 days post-op:

    A Week To Forget

I’m drawing a line under last week and moving swiftly on! Emotions were all over the place, pains were getting to unbearable levels and eating sensibly went by the by. 2.5lbs up on my lowest (it could have been so much worse 😮) Just putting it down to experience and carrying on. My clothing is fitting better and I’ve managed to wear a ring that I’ve not been able to get on my finger for quite some time so the NSV are continuing, which are all positives. Hope everyone has a great start to their week 🙂 Onwards and Downwards!

    Just met with my doctor

I had many questions. He told me i can work out now (yay!!!!). He said i can incorporate certain foods but mashed potatoes & sweet potatoes is a no go. So cooked veggies and chicken shall be my next go to. But i’m 181 today! Officially 36lbs down. He encouraged me that i was at the right pace because my starting weight wasnt so high — if i lost alot immediatley, he’d be concerned. On the table, i didnt realize i was 195😨. So yeah, he said im on the right track and i’d meet my goal of 160 probably in september or october. The good news? I can work out to keep active & busy

Amazing. OMG that loss in that timeframe is totally inspirational! Took me much longer from a similar starting point. I am in absolute awe of your regimen. I suspect you have further loss in you. Enjoy all of the feels, all of the NSVs. You are doing this gal! With or without any further surgery you've done this 🤲

    Wanted - 2 New Knees!

It won't cure the arthritic knees and pain but it will help as you will have much less weight to be walking around with so less pressure on them. I have no cartilage in either knee and have been getting steroid injections and also hyaluronic to cushion the joints and they only last a while. Doctors told me I needed both knees replaced at a later date but I had to loose weight first and my knees need to thin down more (as I have bad lymphedema). I can already feel the difference now with the weight loss, I can walk further and faster without much pain. Whereas before I would not be able to sleep at night due to knee pain. I will get another round of injections in September before my holidays just to be on the safe side and will see what the ortho says about my knees (I don't think they have slimmed down enough yet) and I think my knees have a few more years in them.
