woke up at the crack of dawn this morning to get to a 6am hot yoga class...got home FAMISHED and fixed myself ½ a bagel and leftover asparagus (ate it all) around 8am. then got hungry again just now (12:30pm) and made this avocado-and-everything-bagel-seasoning-and sumac open faced sandwich with the other ½ of the bagel from this morning. ate it all!! soooo good 😊 ASIDE: tried on a pair of shorts i used to wear last year when i was 4 lbs LIGHTER than i am now, and they are ridiculously too big on my waist. Lesson: the number on the scale means much less than your measurements. and the number of calories you consume and its effects cannot be translated across everyone. i can easily consume 2500+ calories a day because i exercise like a fiend.. so when ur nutritionist or some well meaning BP member tells you how many calories you should be consuming (or advise on a general macro breakdown) remember that the "sweet spot" is highly individualized and varies HUMUNGOUSLY from person to person. find YOUR own sweet spot and work it from there, cuz no one knows your body better than you. sorry...im feeling very "you-go-girl!" at the moment and feel like i need to inspire lol. working out does that to me lolololzzzzz. 😂😂😂

Hi, I don't even know where to start. I'm short (5'1") and my highest weight was around 210. I was 180 at the time of my surgery back in January 2013. I did great with my sleeve and my lowest weight was 117 -- too thin honestly. I stayed between 135-150 for many years. In early 2020 (Covid), 7 years after surgery my weight started creeping up. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm 200 lbs now. I've had clothes sized 2 to 18, in the last 11 years which is crazy. I am in my early 50s. I'm pretty sure I've started menopause. I get very hungry and graze way too much. I still don't eat a ton at one sitting, but nothing like the small amounts I used to eat either. The idea of trying to lose all this extra weight is overwhelming to me. Plus my knees and feet kill me now. I can walk for exercise and plan to do that. My insurance does cover WLS revisions now and I'm seriously considering it. I am at a place in my life where I want to be comfortable in my skin and just generally comfortable. I have chub rub again, travelling sucks at thIs size, and I'm generally uncomfortable. I would give anything to be 150 again. I would love feedback from others that have been where I am. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

You're more than welcome!! When I had my hysterectomy (cervical cancer) my doctor at the time left the ovaries so I wouldn't go into menopause at age 26. LOL Then I ended up with an ovarian cyst gone wild 13 years later so out they came, too! Technically, a hysterectomy is just the uterus removal: hyster = uterus; ectomy = surgical removal. For the ovaries to also come out it would be a hystero-oophorectomy. (I wonder, too, if they're not removing the ovaries as often due to insurance. I work in medical billing as a cash poster so I only post payments from insurance and patients but I hear about a lot of denials and let me tell you, it's getting crazier by the day.)

    Clothing sizes

I'm pretty much shopping exclusively at Goodwill right now, not sure where this trip will end and I keep outpacing all my new stuff. For me, it hits when I'm folding my laundry, all my clothes are so much smaller, it's weird. I go in looking at my current size and feel like I don't belong there.

    Surgery

Yes, and it was pancreatitis, diagnosed the day after the op (as it was due to surgical error I believe) before I even knew there was a problem. I had to stay in hospital after my op and ended up having to get my nutrients via IV (and then eventually a feeding tube but that was for a different reason). I also know of someone else who suffered pancreatitis following surgery recently, medical team are blaming her prior use of weight loss injection in the run up to the surgery but who knows! If your symptoms continue would you consider going to the ER to get readmitted and ask for tests again like contrast (liquid) CT to check for leak etc.?

    Buyers Remorse?

I saw the term, momentary "buyers remorse" on someone's thread the other day in reference to having bariatric surgery and last night I understood when I had a fatigue and anxiety melt down. I went back to school at age 48, once the majority of my kids were gone and I could spare the time. I take a full time course load, so my house gets deep cleaned now only during school breaks. This spring break I didn't expect to get much house and yard work accomplished, as I expected to be recovering from my sleeve surgery. But here I am, nine days after surgery and in the last days of spring break and I'm feeling great. My doc cleared me to do any physical activity that didn't hurt and I seem to have full energy, so I decided to go to work yesterday on a kitchen deep clean. From about 8 am until 11 pm (with breaks and liquid meals all day), I cleaned the fridge and pantry, scrubbed the oven, washed the microwave and toaster oven, dusted the tops of cupboards, washed drawer fronts and pulls, mopped- all of it. My kitchen looks like I just moved in. "Seemed" however is the operative word here. When I came up to go to bed, I was more exhausted than I've been in I don't know how long. And then, when I got a side stitch just off to the left of my tiny new stomach, I started to panic. I manage a somatic anxiety disorder and an attention deficit- and once in a while, particularly when I'm too tired, I have an epic storm that just has to run it's course. So, I paced around my bedroom hyperventilating for 20 minutes and rued my decision to have this surgery. All I could think is, "what have you done?!?" It was pretty awful. This morning I feel fine, aside from an emotional hangover, which is really just what the absence of adrenaline feels like after a panic attack. Other than that, I'm glad I had the surgery again. I'm going to do some light yard work today in between naps and offer myself a helluva lot more grace and leniency. And tomorrow, I'm going to have my first solid food (puree) that I've had in a couple of weeks. That first two tablespoon serving is going to be magical.

I have a choice of 2 breakfasts, either 150 grams full fat Greek yoghurt with berries 170 cals and a homemade latte, 100 cals and all this adds to about 25 grams of protein or a 27 gram sachet of porridge oats with milk and added ginger jam to sweeten it and a latte. I love ginger jam. This adds up to 25 grams of protein and 280 calories Lunch is either home made soup with lentils and bacon/ chicken added for protein or a 2 egg cheese omelette, scrambled eggs or fried eggs. Around 250 calories and up to 20 grams of protein. Snack, Milky coffee, a piece of fruit and some blue cheese 200 cals and 8 grams of protein Evening meal, Homemade family meal minus the carbs or a salad with fish or meat. About 250 cals and 15 grams of protein. Snacks of either fruit and cheese, fruit lolly or a almond magnum, packet of low fat crisps and a homemade cheese dip. I aim for 60 grams of protein and 1500 calories for maintenance. Once a week I may go over on a hungry day and one day I will forget to eat and be miles under so it all balances out. I realise I eat a lot of dairy but my cholesterol is ok at the moment.

May I ask you what type of reaction you got from the surgical glue and how long did it took for it to heal? Do you still have scars from the allergic reaction? it was red swollen for me, just now I see lot of blisters… and worried it will scar worse.
