    Food Before and After Photos

lunch this afternoon....a giant piece of garlic toast (really should call it garlic LOAF, it was so thick!), with a side poached egg and a garden salad w/ sesame vinaigrette. ate 1/4 of the toast-loaf and probably 1/4 of the egg (i dipped the toast-loaf in it, so can't really gauge how much i ate if it) and all the salad. also had a sample (2 forkfuls) of the Kid's soufflé pancakes with some the the berry sauce (too sweet) and whipped cream (yum!) (and a mimosa beforehand, not shown ) guessing 400 cals for everything i ate.

    Navigating Eating Out

I worked out of town all week, so every meal was at a restaurant. Even the sandwich place we went to, I just told them to keep the fries, and only give me veggies and the meat, no bread. I got strange looks, and it was discounted at all, but it works. I also had a birria taco, and just scraped out the meat/cheese, and left the tortilla. Grilled chicken at the steak place. Luckily I talked them out of a burger joint But if we would have gone, i would have got the burger, just no bun etc. I was still able to keep my calories under 1K per day!

    Motivation

I'd read the posts on "non-scale victories" lots of motivation there! I also taped one of the very few pictures of myself to the mirror. Seeing the difference and why I was doing it helped.

Oh I eat a variation on this all the time. Without the bread though - that still sits in my stomach like a lump of lead. Avocado and (for me fried) egg is a match made in heaven. And yes, you have to have some seasoning. 🤩

I'm the same height as you but not the same starting weight. I lost less than half what you have in the first 6 months - around 60lbs - not including my looooonnnnng pre-op diet. I continued to lose consistently for around 2 years, although the second year was a total of 11lbs (I think) so when I got close to my new set weight I was losing a pound a month, that's major fun but still a loss, LOL. From memory I would have been eating around 800 calories a day at 6 months so 900-1000 sounds completely spot on. Sounds like you're doing absolutely amazingly.

    Raw vegetables?

I believe I only restarted raw veg at around 5 or 6 months (I might have had lettuce and *maybe* cucumber before that) but luckily I didn't have any problems at all.

    Pureed foods. Yuck!!

Loads of useful suggestions here (as ever!) Seems such a long time ago now. I am the exception to the rule - after 2 weeks of pre-op protein shakes and 2 weeks of post-op liquids my first pureed meals were like the tastiest things I've ever had. I lovvvved them. I basically pureed a selection of whatever my family were having (I cook for everyone) with a bit of extra liquid (gravy was best) and gobbled it all down! Saved a couple of tiny portions (like a tablespoon or two) for my other meals that day or the next and hit my protein goal mainly from protein yoghurts and protein shakes. Strangely I didn't have soup until the next phase but it's still a big go-to for lunch now, especially with lentils for added protein.

Oh, I use scissors to open them 😁 & either pour the contents into other containers or use those clip seals (love my IKEA ones). Some of those zip seals are impossible to open - those teeny tiny tabs you’re supposed to pull to reveal the zip. I had a skin graft on my dominant hand thumb & have reduced sensitivity which makes it harder to grip & yank. My seed mix comes in the worst one & second is the bag of my washing powder pods.
