I’m so glad and grateful to be home. Even while in the hospital I noticed how much I was able to walk and hold a conversation while even just walking 300 feet (little over 90 meters). My surgeon even said I looked much better than before surgery and my 15yr old told me that she was happy to see me back and that it was sad watching me slowly decline (she had never shared that with me! 😭). Recovery is expected to last 4-6 weeks for bone healing but cardiac rehab lasts 8-12 weeks and starts week 2-4 post op.

    February surgery buddies 🥰

I'm not nervous about the surgery. However, I have to take blood thinners for several days afterwards because I've had issues in the past with venous deficiency in my lower leg. So, I'm nervous about that more than the surgery.

UPDATE: Surgery was Postponned again til January 26th. Finally got the surgery. 1 week and a little more still liquids wondering what I will eat for soft stage. Was never a soft stage either like mash potatoes and stuff. I left a message for nutrionist to see if I will be able to eat scrambled eggs, I will try and make them soggy. So the Soft food diet begins this Sat. On a side note going in to Surgery I was 275lb and today weighed myself and I am 259. I am already getting comments from my immediate family, what are they gonna say when i get below the 200lbs. This community is so great, thank you all!

4 yrs post VSG to RNY

May I ask if the reason for revision was for gerd or acid reflux? Just curious because after my sleeve o developed gerd, and I also need to loss some weight. One week post the RNY which is when I introduced soft food, I can feel the reflux at night when I lay down. It’s like something in the back of my throat and my chest feel tight. I don’t know if the reflux is a imidiate fix or not. I have to ask my doctor when I see him again. And how long was the bypass was never discussed. I didn’t know there is actually the length that I can discuss… I feel like there is a lot I could have ask and didn’t. At my one week post op visit, I had many questions, and maybe I was showing some anxiety, and of course the doctor and nutritionist sensed it. They just told me to keep clam? Let my body heal and don’t think about the weight loss right now.

Good to know you are doing good! You said you did the revision at your goal weight, did you lose Ms more weight after the revision or stay the same?

I could eat this entire thing if I’m really hungry. Congratulations! I think you might have a rare level of restriction. 😂

    November 2023 buddies

And here are my stats! I cannot believe I am 1/3 of the way towards my goal and that I've lost 76.5 inches from all over my body!! I definitely feel it!

You must be pleased to be home. How long is the recovery time expected to be? Do you notice any difference yet? A few people I know who’ve had various heart surgeries all have said said they didn’t realize how much they’d deteriorated & struggled until after their surgeries.

    Undergarment recommendations

I've stuck to buying underwired bras - two at a time and only when the current bras were clearly ridiculously large - as I lost weight. I tried to buy reasonably cheap versions - sometimes that worked out and sometimes it didn't! I'm at goal now (regaining a little if anything) and buying 'forever' underwear, LOL. I've never needed anything officially compression but I know others prefer that. I don't mind a bit of saggy skin underneath my underwear. Nobody sees it!

    Food Before and After Photos

Protein Belgium waffle I used to make these often in the first year after WLS when I was concerned about reaching protein goals. I lost my trusted recipe so I’m back to experimenting again. This one was a little too thick and dry but overall not bad because the flavor was nice. I tried it with strawberry jam and agave caramel sauce. I prefer the caramel sauce. The tracking is for two full-size waffles without jam or sauce (I only ate half of one waffle so 136 cals, 19 g protein & 10 g carbs)
