I had surgery on Monday October 2nd. I can't tell you how free I felt. I just felt satisfied and no need to eat. It was such a relief. Not thinking of what I could eat. I know what my selections are so I feel content. I had wonderful care in the hospital. I'm so glad I found this forum. I battle alone throughout my pre-op journey. So thank you everyone.

Sounds like a ploy, if you have to do it pre-op then do it. I get whey protein from GNC, even this site sells whey protein. I know that after surgery some people struggle with whey, there are so many options on the market, that you are not corralled into buying from just them unless you signed a contract that states that.

When we submitted to insurance we weren't sure which procedure we were going with (the doctor needed to talk to my gastro doc) so we just submitted for the bigger procedure (DS), knowing we could downgrade if needed and insurance would be easy to run through again. I don't think you'll have much of a hold up unless the doctor doesn't do the bypass surgeries? Congrats on deciding which surgery is right for you!!

This is day 2 for me. I'm still in the hospital, but tolerating everything I have tried so far - pretty grateful for that Popsicle, Broth, Jell-O, Gatorade My favorite is ice 🧊 chips. I am getting up and walking every few hours, which is recommended!!

Hi catwoman. Thanks for your reply, and for your reassurance. I've been thinking about this for a while, and I've basically reached this decision today, on the weekend lol. I guess I'm also nervous that my surgeon won't agree as he seemed pretty confident about the sleeve. I know I'm usually not really ever satisfied after eating a normal portion of food and I "feel" hungry soon after and that I crave sweets regularly. I need more help with my hunger pangs.

I would be shocked if you had to start the whole process over if it hasn't even been submitted to insurance yet. Even if it HAD been submitted to insurance, probably the worst that could happen would be a slight delay (although even that would surprise me...)

What do YOU eat in a day and Stalling

I usually eat whatever I feel like. Today I had coffee with half cup of 1% milk and collagen powder (breakfast). For lunch, I had a 120g slice of bacon, egg, onion quiche (homemade). For snacks, my go-tos are crispy grapes and strawberries. I eat all types of fruit, and often changes depending how I feel. Like yesterday, I had some of a fresh cacao fruit. Other days, I love frozen durian. Not sure what I'll have for dinner, thinking of two black bean tacos (I like the black bean fiesta) but I may make some oxtail soup with veggies. It's good for prepping several little bowls for later meals. Before maintenance, during stalls, I would cut back my calorie intake on my weekly average till it breaks. To help, I use a lot of konjac noodles because they are basically calorie and carbohydrate free. In maintenance, if I gain a couple pounds, I do the same to get to my accepted weight range. I have no secrets, it's boring, I watch my calories. I have to unfortunately. My exercise is to live an active lifestyle by constantly moving wherever I am, but I don't ever do a formal exercise plan because I can't exercise my way out when I eat too much lol (As the saying goes) and it makes me more hungry anyway. I move for health, not to lose weight.

    October 2023 surgery buddies

Hi I’m new this forum and this is my first post i had my gastric sleeve done on 17th October and been fairly ok ever since - few moments of regrets but this is something I needed to do more than wanting to do Pre surgery I was constantly obsessed with food - I would plan in advance that if I’m going here il eat this and on this day il eat this and so on ..obsessed with takeaways and even had a tiktok channel with all the nice food places I go to etc ..food was my life..I’m 36 and this lifestyle made me diabetic and I still think I’m young and shouldn’t be diabetic. Iv seen peoples lives change for the worse since becoming diabetic and this worried me…this is why I say I did this because I needed to rather than wanting to i know 4-5 people who have done the surgery and iv seen what they eat after a year..their appetite has gone up more now and rather than losing weight are maintaining it by the food they are eating ..the food they are eating now gives me motivation which is unfortunate that I know this isn’t forever
