    Weight gain

I agree. Go back to your basics & what you were doing just before you began maintenance. Meet your protein & fluid goals. Watch your portions & your carbs, sugar & fat. Record your intake at least for a while until you’re back on track or longer if you find it helpful. Get back in touch with your dietician & your therapist (as a support & to talk through any changes, social, emotional, etc. that may have led to old habits returning). You’ve got this.

    October 2023 surgery buddies

My surgery is Monday, October 9th, almost here, I'm scared, nervous, and excited. I know it's going to be a very long and difficult road, but I have to remember why I want and need to have this.

    Total regret

I had gastric bypass 15 years ago and I regret it with every fiber of my being!! I have gotten to the point to where I can not hold down any food whatsoever and shakes like boots or iffy. Is there a way to reverse this horrific mistake?

    Covids affects on Surgery

Hello all...I really do not know how this works. Anyway here goes.. I am over 50 and I live with and take care of my 76 yr old mother. She had back to back strokes approximately 10 yrs ago. Recently she had another stroke. She has to go back into rehab soon. (shes not released from hospital yet) During all this mess I have tested positive for Covid. I would like some help with questions i have regarding both our well-being. Scheduled for my last office visit for next week and don't know how this (covid) may affect securing a surgery date. Any information out there from anyone in a similar situation would be most welcome.

No reactions for me, but I’m reading too much about how people with a predisposition toward asthma and allergies are getting new food allergies after a virus. I would be more concerned about a severe reaction, especially since it encircled your neck. I hope you find your trigger soon!

Same here (Oct 16)!! Also bypass. Midway through the pre-op diet, kinda an emotional rollercoaster ride the first few days but doing well now. Best wishes to you (and all) on a successful start to a new life!

it probably depends on your particular policy and your situation. Some companies will cover it if you have documented evidence of medical issues such as chronic rashes that don't respond to conventional treatments...and some will cover pannilectomies if your "apron" hangs below a certain level - and some don't cover plastic surgery at all (mine doesn't). As for particular policy - those can vary between employers even if they use the same insurance company. Employers can purchase coverage above and beyond basic items - or not. For example, for years my insurance company offered bariatric surgery, but it was a rider that an employer could buy - or not. My employer chose not to purchase that rider until very recently (I think two years ago) - so those of us who wanted it had to either change to a different insurance company that my employer also worked with (although it was much more expensive than the one most employees went with) - or self-pay. check on your Kaiser policy and see if it's covered. Or check with your employer's HR department - they should know, too.

    4 week Post-op feeling down

We all have the regrets at some point, its a whole new world. You need to give yourself a pat on the back for getting to a month out. I promise it will get better very soon. I did not appreciate how big a surgery it was TBH. It is a massive learning curve. Use your team when you need to, that's what they are there for. As we all have been given different regimes we do not know what yours entails Lots of us can not make the liquid or protein goals. As soon as you can, you will feel so much better. Try your hardest to get the liquid in. Hot, cold or frozen. It doesn't matter which, just sip all day long. Lots of us still take drinks to bed too. One day you will be able to drink easier. Your internal stitch line will calm down and the swelling will dissipate. Then you can take bigger mouthfuls. Lots of liquid without food will made you nauseous too. Apparently we have the same amount of stomach acid as pre surgery and this rises [GERD] when we sleep lying flat. If this is a problem, try propping yourself on pillows, a bed wedge helped me. I had to drop the iron in my vitamins, it made me super nauseous. Don't be afraid to go back a step if the next step is too far for you at the moment. I never did puree, just looking at it made me heave. You are not alone on this site, We will help you all we can
