Hi to all. I haven't been on the forum to post for couple of days, as I had my surgery on Jan 12th. I am just curious if anyone else has ever had a 5 hour long gastric bypass. My poor Dr. worked on my lower intestines where I had so much scar tissue and he said if he hadn't fixed it that later on in life it would have given me lots of trouble. So, I'm actually very blessed that my Dr. went above and beyond for my health. However, I paid for it with the pain. Oh my goodness!!!!! I'm talking pain scale of 10 for awhile. It felt like my stomach was on fire. However, by the next morning I was much better. I only had to stay 2 nights and they were thinking 3 at first, so that of course more good news. I just wanted to share and say Hi and I'm glad to be back home.

I had Gastric sleeve with Hiatal Hernia repair on June 1st. I've had a few different issues like a skin rash, numbness in my legs, but the biggest one is the Acid Reflux. I've had it on and off for a few months. The last 2 weeks it feels like a lump in my chest and throat as well as feeling like there are chunks rolling around in my stomach. The heartburn is truly awful. I'm on omeprazole and take tons of Antacids. During my endoscopy they found out I had gastritis but without h pylori. My doctor is having me go back to liquid diet for 5 days and double my omeprazole during that time but it's not working. Has anyone experienced this? I need advice or things to ask my surgeon because I don't think I'm being taken seriously!

I had gastric sleeve on Thursday. The first few hours after were rough, but by discharge on Friday morning I was feeling much better. Today, my body started expelling all the gas and I was immediately rid of the bloating and mild pain when sipping water. I’m walking around just fine. The only issue is a bit of lingering pain in the larger stapled hole on my left side. Everything else is good. I sipped on some broth and am not having trouble sipping water frequently. I have to admit, I am in less pain than I thought at this early point. Hope everyone else is seeing strong improvements!

I definitely have lost the padding around my tail bone. I find sitting at an angle helps when I can. Straight back sitting can be miserable and for long car rides I have a pillow. It does get better though. You either learn how to sit or maybe it's getting better. After a long day I can feel my tailbone when I lay down.

Hey! My surgery is 10/2! Excited and nervous!

Your weight loss is never a straight line downwards. You’ll notice ups & downs & plateaus along the way. All perfectly fine & to be expected. I’d expect fluid retention at the moment too. I remember I’d put on a couple of kilos starting the day before my period & then have a day just peeing it all out just before it finished. (I’d also get constipated for a couple of days.)

Hi I had my surgery on Monday I’m on liquid diet for three weeks more good luck to all of you. Take it easy you girls can do it!!

It IS funny how the signals change. Now as I'm getting full ,I start to burp . It's like the food is filling up the last of the air space in my stomach. I've been stopping before that happens ,but it's like my stomach is sending out an alarm that says "for God's sake -- STOP eating !!" LOL

Putting on a pair of stretch pants that were TOOOOOO stretchy! LOL Throwing away my saggy, granny panties (Thank goodness I kept some cute underwear!) Digging out my old bras...down from a 40DD to a 38DD...I'm glad the girls are sticking around for this journey!

Holy smokes!!! The leak test, for me, was done while I was still in the OR. By the time I woke up in my room, I was allowed water. And I was definitely allowed to get up as soon as I felt able. The catheter and keeping you in bed part really threw me. It's required that you get up and walk around, so them forcing you to stay in bed was super weird to me. With my sleeve, I was kept on the IV the entire time because I hard a hard time drinking more than 2oz of water at any given time. With my revision to bypass, they took me off the IV the same day as the surgery because I was able to drink an entire 20 oz of water in an hour. I did that twice and they said "yep, you're good, the IV can come out". And I was able to go to the bathroom in the toilet from the jump because they wanted to be able to measure how much urine output there was.
