    Gastric Bypass Aug 16th

^^ THIS ^^ No regrets. I am doing things now, I couldn't do for years. I told someone the other day, I finally feel free. Because before I was living in my own prison. WLS held the key. I am only 3 months out and still have a ways to go but even the 60 pounds off has made a dramatic difference in how I feel and move and breathe. Don't fear the surgery. Fear doing nothing. I was nervous but not fearful. Good luck @Mike.J.Y You'll do just fine

    My Gastric Sleeve Journey

Had my VSG about 6 weeks ago. I really want to maintain, maybe build muscle. I have had good muscle mass until about two yrs ago. I am now 55 and post menopausal, so it’s a whole new world!!😩. I would love to learn Any supplements, exercise routines or any kind of tip/ trick people have discovered, stumbled upon. I know we are all different, but I love hearing about new things to look into, learn about. There is so much out there now!! Get hormones! Use EEA’s!! The wellness world has exploded and there is a lot of BS out there. Every now and again you find a gem. We are aging so much differently than our parents!! We aren’t taking it lying down! 50 is the new 30!!

I could reintroduce caffeine at 5 weeks post-op. I quit drinking coffee long before my WLS due to the hiatal hernia that I didn't know I had. But was having massive acid reflux whenever I drank it, so I stopped. Now with surgery and hernia repair, I can enjoy again but my Nut was adamant about me waiting the 5 weeks.

    Weight Loss Stopped?

I started seeing a slowdown in weight loss around 13 months post OP and now the scale is hardly moving. I read that the rate will be high at first and will slow down as you about to reach your goal weight. I still want to lose 5 kg more but I'm not stressing about it. Planning to start exercising and hopefully that will help. I read some people here have tried fasting / IF to jumpstart the weight loss. I remember you posted about trying IF. How is that working for you? The important thing is to not stress too much about. I always remind myself that I've gained all that weight over a number of years and to lose it all over a few months would be a drastic change. Good luck

    Surgery Failure

Here's my concern with what you just said. If it says 25 carbs, you will drink it. But what about carbs in other things? Are you staying below your allotted carb count for the entire day, or are you counting the carbs based on each individual item and not the entire day as a whole? Your allotted carbs for the entire day are much lower than they were pre-surgery, so make sure you're paying attention to that and staying at or below your carb amount for the whole day. For me, I can't go above 50 carbs for the whole day, but I tend to stay at around 30 for the day. You have to watch the protein, fat, carb, and calorie intake now. My nutritionist said my allowable numbers are: Calories - no more than 500 calories per day (based on being where you're at in the process)m carbs: 50 or less, fat: 50 or less, and protein: 60-90g. I just had my revision, so I'll have to start my process over once I'm done with all liquids, but given the guidelines, there's no way I would ever drink anything that was 15, 20, or 25 carbs per serving.

Focus on what the procedure will do for your health; it sounds like you're literally doing this to improve your quality of life and even save it. Excess skin is not going to harm you in most cases. You'll have the rest of your extended life to worry about that.

    Regrets

Ok, let me say this. Yesterday I was in a bad place mentally. Today, I’m feeling a little better at 7 days out. It’s not hurting to drink as much and I can get a more normal amount of fluids in etc. Give yourself grace- you haven't ruined anything from a few bites. This is hard. We’ve never done this and we’re not going to be perfect. You got this

Well, this certainly went in an unexpected direction. I think the OP basically wanted us to tell her that there was some way for her to both lose her weight and make no further changes (because "sacrifices suck"). I did want to add one thing, though, for the future people who read this. Your body can carry an INSANE amount of poop. So the OP, starting her post-colon-cleanse weight, already was down as much as ten pounds (I 💩 you not!) just from having it all out of her. And it doesn't matter which scale you use as long as you use the same scale every time.
