    In a Panic

It’s very difficult to stretch your tummy out to point it doesn’t contract to it’s smaller size. You’d need to consistently over eat for a long period of time. Not sure when you had your surgery, but it takes a while for all the nerves that were cut during surgery to heal & for messages about having eaten too much to get through. You often won’t feel your restriction either until you are eating solid food. It’s why sticking to your portion size recommendations is essential. Also try not to eat until you are full or feel the restriction. It takes time for the message that you are full to get through to your brain. By the time you get the message you have eaten to the point of being much more than full. Plus full signals are often different to what the were. Some sneeze, some find their nose runs, etc. I still ask myself do I need the next bite or just want it. Never be afraid to put your cutlery down, push away from the table & take a break to wait for the messages to get through to see if you are still really hungry & need another bite. if your surgery was recent & you are still on the staged return to eating solid food restricted diet than the risk of damaging your tummy or hindering your recovery is high. Remember all those sutures & staples holding your tummy together (about 12 inches of them). You may have got away with it this time but do you want to push your luck?

    July 2023 buddies

New here! I have my VSG July 10. I’m also on day 6 of the liver shrinking diet. Ugh. I want Mexican food so bad right now. Lol. Im excited yet really nervous for the day. I get in my head too much sometimes and freak myself out. I know I’ll be fine though. I have found that TikTok has some wonderful people on there to follow. Recipes, support, advice, etc. it has really helped a lot. I’ve told my family and a few friends. I feel like after surgery it will just be easier. I know lots of people know though. You know how word spreads. Hope you are doing well!!!!

    Moving After Surgery

I am an accountant. I know people in my profession all over. I've met them in training and conferences. I know know who the really good ones are. They are usually presenters in the trainings. I would ask your current surgeon for a referral. Dietician also.

    Moving After Surgery

I would start calling bariatric doctors in your new location and ask the questions. Different doctors have different requirements. For me, my doctor saw me at 3 wk, 6wk, and will again at 6 months and at a year, as well as and every year after. I am also required 6 month labs, year labs, and labs every year after.

Liquid Phase, pre and post op

Its hard to know for sure but your taste buds might change after this surgery. Many people have wasted money buying to much for the after surgery stage. Buy a few of each and see how your tastes are.

My choice on the bypass was solely made because I have GERD and I didn't want to possibly make it worse by getting the sleeve. I cannot imagine going through a revision surgery. A lot of people do, but that was definitely something I didn't want to experience, especially since the first 6 weeks after were very unfun. That said, it's your choice and either surgery will give you great weight loss results; just look at the possible cons of each surgery as well. As far as dumping with the bypass, it keeps me in check when choosing what to eat. I hope that works for my advantage later down the road.

How long is a protein supplement needed

Protein water is another option too. Watch the protein bars as many are just glorified candy.

    Discouraged after Surgery

20 lbs is great for 6 weeks considering there may have been a stall of 3 weeks or so. So more or less you must have lost 20 lbs in about 3 to 4 weeks. And 20 lbs is a good chunk for the duration! And yes comparison to anyone else isn't going to do you any good. In the end, you won't ever lose the same amount as any xyz. You'll have to be happy with your progress and the weight your body decides to stabilize at as long as you did all you could and stuck to your weight loss plan! P.S - Just saw your BMI. Seems like your starting BMI wasn't that high to begin with. Higher the BMI, more the weight loss generally speaking!

It show easily that it's the guys room..even if it's on my timeline. You ladies just like to comment on everything regardless lol... EVEN IF you quite possibly didn't see it as the "guys room"...his topic literally says "guys: what do you do to relieve stress?" [emoji52] Sent from my SM-N910C using BariatricPal mobile app
