    Regret’s not mentally ready.

There's a reason why we have to start on liquids and slowly work our way up to solid food. You have sutures that can get pieces of food stuck in them. Also, your sutures could break. Peritonitis is nothing to trifle with. Buyer's remorse is quite common. It will get better. No bite of solid food is worth your life.

    No microwaving???

This is a phenomenon I refer to as the "One A$$hole Rule"...somebody did it, now we've all got to be told not to LOL

    No microwaving???

I feel like a lot of practices write their guidelines with the expectation that you, the bariatric patient, are the single dumbest person who has ever walked the earth. If there's even the slightest chance that something could be problematic for anyone, they'll just forbid it for everyone, because you can't be trusted to, like, adapt or think or anything. And maybe they actually had a patient who was the single dumbest person who has ever walked the earth. That person put a piece of chicken in the microwave and let it go for 60 seconds and still choked it down, but then they got a tummy ache. Now no one gets to have warm leftovers. Maybe they had one patient who thought that 'black coffee" meant a triple-caramel venti machiatto. Now no one gets to have no-cal brewed caffeine beans. Maybe they had one patient who guzzled full-sugar Mountain Dew by the bottle post-op. Now you can't have a sip of champagne at your wedding. My dietician told me I can't have soup, because some people have trouble with it. Great, that's terrible for them. I've perfected my soup technique and I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to balloon back into super obesity because I had a cup of chicken noodle, so leave off.

    Still Undecided.....

Go for it! That's all I'll say! Majority of us here have gone with the constant back and forth but rarely would you come across anyone say they regret the decision having gone past the year down the road post their surgery!. Negative thoughts will be common as the time for surgery comes closer but you have to ouweight the risks over benefits. My life has taken a 180 since the surgery. New outlook in life and just general sense of bliss, it's unimaginable. If I were to do it all over again, I'll do it without a second thought. Good luck with whatever that you decide.

    JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES

I feel old at 55 doing this. I went straight for the DS surgery because I want results and don’t want to go back for more weight loss surgeries (skin removal is a possibility). I definitely don’t want to do that again. I had complications after my surgery on the 14th. I was in the hospital an extra 3 days. I didn’t want to post and scare anyone but I’m a week out from surgery now and doing much better. I just need to figure out my eating/drinking schedule since they can’t be done within 30 minutes of each other. I am super excited for the results. From max weight before the pre-surgery diet to now, I’m down 25 pounds!!!

    Stalls suck

I feel like I'm losing so slow , I think I'll be prepared for the plateau. I'm a month out from surgery , and lost 12 pounds. My dietician told me to put that scale away !!! It's the old saying "a watched pot never boils" LOL She told me to look for non scale victories when the losing is slow. So far my clothes are looser and I'm not sweating as much .Yeah for me ! LOL

    July 2023 buddies

I like my clothes and am still holding on. I’ve lost weight before on diet so part of me still has that memory of giving stuff away only to buy bigger sizes again later when I regained my weight. But I know this will be different. I’m most looking forward to buying bras in a normal shop. I currently have to buy them online and they’re very expensive.

    July 2023 buddies

Hey guys I have my surgery July 17th, I have to do the liquid diet as well 2wks before my surgery. But I am able to eat dinner if I choose too. They did say doing the liquid diet will shrink the the liver to help the procedure better. I know everyone have different plans from their drs. Congratulations to everyone.
