Had my sleeve in August of 2019. My HW was 316 (groan) and my CW stays between 158 to 160. I pretty much eat whatever I want but in much smaller portions and reasonable exercise. My doctor didn’t want me to go below 165 because of all the loose skin. He was afraid I would be underweight (as if that has ever happened). I am still debating getting a plastic surgery (I am 71 and wondering if it is worth the expense and pain at my age). The best part of the surgery is the confidence I have about not putting the weight back on.

    Post op pains

Man I underestimated how uncomfortable the gas pain would be! I had my last pain med at the hospital around 8am. My dr doesn’t send you home with anything and tells you to use Tylenol. I’m so uncomfortable that I’m just camped out in my living room in the recliner. What day did the gas pains go away for you?

    Post op pains

About one week for me… it gets a little better each day. Walking helps, I couldn’t walk too far so I would take several short walks in my neighborhood. I used narcotics for about two days then switched to Tylenol. It’s important to take the regiment every four hours. I actually split my four hour dose and took it every two hours to keep it in my system consistently. I, too, rode the recliner for about four days before making it into bed. Hang in there! It gets better! Welcome to the other side!

    Help!!!! POST OP

It's not the end of the world. Just make sure you stick to your plan moving forward. I know it can be hard to push through cravings or years of eating a certain way. For me, I have to be mindful about everything that I eat. During the first year, we are setting ourselves up for what the rest of our lives will look like in terms of diet and exercise. It's important to instill in ourselves these principles and make those our new normal. With that said, please give yourself some grace. We all mess up sometimes.

    Gas advice much needed

that doesn't sound like dumping. I know of someone else who has SIBO - (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) that sounds somewhat similar to what you have, but I'm NOT a medical person. I've also heard of people having issues digesting carbohydrates (not necessarily WLS patients, but I've heard about it in WLS patients, too) who have to eat a low FODmap diets (or at least very low carb diets) to control it. I would see your general PCP - and if they don't know, maybe they can refer you to a G/I specialist. These kinds of things aren't really common, so it could be that the people at your bariatric clinic just aren't familar with it. EDITED to add: I just re-read your message and noticed you said you've had liver problems, too. Maybe it's related to that? I would see if you can get a referral to someone who deals with these kinds of things (G/I person or maybe a hepatologist (if it's liver-related). At any rate, I'd probably start with my primary care covider.

    I Dont Like Food Anymore

Yeah, I hear you. I don’t think I’m grieving anymore but do feel like an outsider. My co-workers come in in the morning and start planning elaborate lunches for take out. I don’t even see the appeal. There’s no interest from me to even be in the daily four hour conversation. I can’t even pretend to like it. Then in the afternoon they do it all over again about coffee. I think I need to get out of that classroom. We’re special needs teachers. It’s hard to explain to them that I was looking forward to a hard boiled egg because I was low energy and knew it would be just right. I’ve moved on from this “foodie mentality.” I just want fuel, boring fuel, but it makes me an outsider.
