    Ive fought my weight all my life- sometimes healthy, but most of the time overweight, so dieting wasn’t new it me, BUT after covid and hitting peri/menopause, the weight came to stay. I was miserable- joint pain, pre-diabetic- and couldn’t lose weight no matter what - even on my usual low carb/keto path. Tried metformin—ugh, Tried contrave- Wellbutrin/naltroxene combo— sicker than a dog and scared of messing with my mental health. HRT was causing the weight to climb- and in november had hysterectomy - and by February hit my highest weigh of 195, Called and got a local Bariatric surgeon consult. Went in and discussed it- decided on VSG. I was NOT going to hit 200 - none of my clothes fit and everything hurt. Found out the process could be months log- so I got on internet and had Mexico- flights, surgeon and two days off work booked and planned for the next month. It cost me about as much as out of pocket would have cost me in the states and i was able to lose weight before surgery- where if id stayed in states, i could have been denied if i lost anything (MX requirement was BMI of 30, states was 35 and comorbitities, i think) I was READY-and was NOT in the mood to wait. So decided Feb 3, and surgery March 3. So glad i did it!

    Happy with your dietician?

    I have been so lucky with my dieticians. Right from the get go, pre surgery, I was given their mobile numbers for questions. They have done everything I needed them to. I have another 6 months of care with them and I will miss them checking in with me. I really do believe you deserve and need a good team behind you because all this is new and takes some getting used too. I needed so much help and plenty of advice early on. If your dietician is not up to the job then I believe you need to tell your surgeon because you need the best and he/ she may not know that they are not up to the mark

    If you are often doing anything aerobic such as walking, running, sex, sports, and/or any number of other things, ones' heart learns to pump more blood so it doesn't need to beat as often. When I was binge running, my resting pulse went to 38-40. Generally this won't cause dizziness because the heart is just more efficient and can do the same job with fewer beats. If you are taking blood pressure or some other meds they may cause dizziness. Especially during the weight loss phase, meds were dosed for a larger body. Losing weight effectively makes some meds stronger. Get your Doc to (re)evaluate your meds and supplements. I had to have BP meds reduced 2 times before they ultimately got rid of them. I would say it's also a wise choice to see a doctor, even a heart doctor. Whenever I've been normal sized, even as a child, I've had Orthostatic hypotension (dizziness when standing). It was never bad nor really any concern until about 7 years after my WLS while at work, I jumped up very quickly and took a bit of a nap. Since it was in front of the CEO, he insisted I have it seen to immediately. So I got a nice ride in an ambulance and after some poking and prodding, a nice, cozy room. I had several tests, and apparently scored well since I won a brand new pacemaker! I never win anything, so it was pretty cool. Good luck, Tek

    Yess it's safe. Water just goes through now so you're not hurting yourself or anything. Glad you're having an easy time getting your water in!

    Pouch reset?

    Echoing the "reset isn't real", and definitely co-signing on the calories. Here's a link to calorie calculators for loss and maintenance - pop in your stats and it gives you calorie guides. Super easy. Weight loss absolutely slows to a crawl as you reach goal, but staying in a deficit works, even if it's slow. I also wanted a "buffer" for the 3-year gain-back scenario, and I'm now ten kilos past my goal, which was what I was after. This whole process is just ongoing calorie adjustment and patience.

    Yeah like they said, pouch resets isn't really a thing. It's essentially just putting you back on a diet. The main one I've seen is the protein shake diet & it works because it puts you back into a basic calorie deficit. You can do that without drinking just liquids, make it a better experience for yourself!

    I know of some people who had it done in 2022, so I was intrigued but continued to try to do it on my own and failing. A week before I called the doctor I went to the Grand Canyon, and among the pictures my husband asked why I was posing a certain way. I wasn't.     Any April Surgery Dates?

    I mix cottage cheese in with my protein shakes and chair seeds and that helps me hit my protein goal a lot easier

    New here!

    I'm close to your timeline with similar surgery. I had RNY with hernia repair on 3/29. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out, down 14 lbs so far. I'm 5'2" and weight day of surgery was 203.8. I feel we are both well within "normal" range for progress. I'm pleased with the results honestly...it would have taken me 4-5 months to lose that much before the surgery. Lol. My energy is also pretty low, I know how you feel. You start wondering if it will ever get better. But based on what I have heard from others, it definitely will. I'm still in pain on the left side and near the belly button. My surgeon ordered a CT scan this week, but it showed nothing significant. I just have to accept the fact that recovery will take longer this time. I've had 2 c-sections and this is most definitely worse. Lol I stared back to work this week. Honestly, I'm grateful to have a desk job and work from home. But the mental fog and fatigue is real. I asked my manager to ease back into projects and such, knowing I won't be mentally sharp for a while. I move to soft foods at the end of this week. I can't wait to feel normal again! I wish you all the best. Please give yourself grace, as others have said. There is no right or wrong way to heal...we just have to do what is necessary for our personal needs. Take care!
