    My Gastric Sleeve Journey

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and didn't really know where to begin, so I figured why not start a thread about my journey? So, I've always been kind of obese (there were a few years that I lost a lot of weight sticking to a low carb diet) I hovered around 300lbs give or take for many years. In 2012 during a divorce, I ballooned all the way up to 365lbs and I swore I'd never get to that point again. I started doing low carb and got all the way down to 235lbs before getting re-married and gaining back about 50lbs. During COVID in 2020, I just completely fell apart and ended up getting to my all-time highest weight of 385lbs. I drive trucks for a living and in August of 2022, I had to go for a sleep apnea test and I failed miserably. Failing the sleep apnea test put my career in jeopardy. I decided immediately afterwards to contact my local hospital about bariatric surgery and immediately started a 6 month program in October, 2022. Since I had already had the sleep apnea test and failed, I'd already knocked that part out at least. I literally just got back from my final doctors appointment and they told me that it's up to my insurance provider to approve or deny me for surgery. I'm really excited but also really nervous. The only time I've ever stayed in a hospital overnight was to take my sleep apnea tests. I started this journey at 385lbs, today I weighed in at 365lbs. I had my ups and downs, but I'm really looking forward to this journey and really looking forward to getting to know everyone and to share my journey.

    May 2023 surgeries

Same here. They gave me some gas x but it did nothing really… I really haven’t gotten much relief from the gas pains until today (2 days post op). Today is a lot of soreness and feeling like my abdomen area is under a lot of pulling sensations when standing up, sitting down, and walking. It is getting better though… I also had a hernia repaired and that hurts a pretty good bit itself too…

    Tummy tuck garment - size?

I would get the Medium. Order if from Amazon, and if it's too small, you can quicky exchange it. I would also recommend getting a garment that covers the thighs b/c you want it to be tight, and not dig in. I would think the ones that stop at the hips, would dig in and irritate the skin. Good luck!! Don't forget to take lots of before and after pics!!

    Why am I so depressed

I am not sure what is going on with me. I had my surgery Dec 8th last year and I have already lost 96 pounds. My wife is happy. I am more active. I can now keep up with my kids for the first time in years and years. I am more active, and my sex life is amazing now. For some reason I am super depressed. I mean it is bad. I feel fat ei feel disgusting. Maybe it is cause idk what to do. As everything gets better in life I seem to be spiraling out. Can someone please give me some advice.

    Clothes Sharing

That's so sweet of you! I've had great luck giving away my clothes on craigslist. I mean, within hours of posting my ad, someone is here picking them up. Most people are trying to sell their used clothes for crazy prices. Free clothes go quick!

    Stall?

I'm 6.5 month po and have been in a stall for almost 2 months. The scale finally moved this morning! HalleluYah! Stalls are a normal part of the process. You just have to trust that if you're doing what you're supposed to do, your weight will eventually get to where it's supposed to be. After surgery, our stomachs are traumatized. They are firm and tight, due to the trauma of surgery. Because of this, we have a lot of restriction. It takes about a year for them to fully settle down and relax. As your tummy relaxes, you will be able to eat larger amounts of food. We have to be mindful not to overeat, as this happens. Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

    Why am I so depressed

Everything should be getting better but it isn’t. Could it be me being sad that I lost the ability to have so much food? Could it be that I can’t have that Saturday nights whiskey. Every day just gets harder and I don’t know why.

    ChubRub's Plastic Surgery Thread

6DPO! Had my 3rd post op visit today, and had 1 drain removed (still have 2 drains left). She also removed and reapplied my boob tape. I'm done with my compression machine and compression tights. I feel more mobile already! I even wore "real" clothes today. Leggings and a t-shirt, I'm fancy!! I discovered my drain lanyard around my neck was causing neck pain, so now I carry my drain lanyard like it's a little purse...a gross purse full of bloody fluid, but it's much more comfortable than around my neck. I see the surgeon again next Monday, at which time I will likely have a 2nd drain removed. Fun stuff!
