Anyway, the point is, it's surgery day and I'm trying not to get sick at the last minute and HERE WE ARE with the temperature at a high of 46 when we've been in the low to mid 80s the last 4 days!!!!! Colorado sucks. Went to the ER Wednesday night for insane abdominal pain and vomiting. 5 hours, lots of blood work, and a CT scan later, and there's no appendicitis, no intestinal blockage, no bowel blocks, and no sleeve leaks or rupture. What I DO have is a very large uterine fibroid that the doctor thinks might be causing the pain. Incidentally, I also saw from my blood work is my liver is enlarged and my kidneys and pancreas don't look to be functioning completely normally. Yay. This afternoon I have the surgery to remove the nodules from my duodenum. Wish me luck!!! Hopefully it's the last one and then I can be cleared for my revision from sleeve to bypass and then get back to living my life. In the meantime, guess I'll be looking into what can be done about the rest of this crap. So tired of there always being SOMETHING going on with my body.

    Internal Hernia / Bowel Obstruction

Well. I have had the most traumatic experience and I need to vent. I am almost 2 years post op RNY. December 15 I went to work as usual, by 230pm was in the ER with excruciating abdominal pain. That evening had emergency open abdominal surgery for the dreaded internal hernia / small bowel obstruction. Spent 5 nights in the hospital. Happy to be home for Christmas - but just a week later landed back in hospital for another partial small bowel obstruction! Thank god it resolved on it’s own. But now I am PARANOID to say the least. On blenderized food for 2 weeks… praying this is a one time deal. Looks like this happens in 8-10% of patients (lucky me). Any advice? Has this happened to anyone else?

Sleeved Dec 05/22 323lbs pre surgery and now 195lbs and still losing hoping to hit goal of 178 by end of may and switch to maintenance. Currently attend aqua fitness 2/3 days a week and walk 6-10km daily. I have never felt so good at any other time in my life, best decision I’ve ever made.

Surgery went well. Had a bit of bleeding but the rest of the polyps and nodules are gone and I'm FINALLY cleared for my revision surgery. It was the biggest of all the surgeries because he wanted to get everything in this 1 surgery instead of bringing me back again. My throat hurts and I'm having difficulty eating soup because it hurts my stomach. Once that passes, I'll be able to eat normally. No exercising today or tomorrow, and Sunday is an easy work out day. Spoke to my primary doctor and she went over the labs and CT scan and said she's referring me to a gyno for the uterine fibroid. She said the other labs are only slightly outside the normal range and nothing to worry about at this point but will be watched. She said the large liver is normal for people who were morbidly obese. She said it's enlarged but actually looks like it's getting smaller from what it was before my sleeve. So all of that is ok and will just be watched to make sure all the numbers keep heading in the right direction.

Your tummy is still healing & generally just more sensitive to all sorts of things. Multi vitamins made me nauseous initially. I still can feel ‘off’ if I eat too early in the morning. It may be something you are eating (tummy can be fussy). It may be just rushing about in the morning - causing some stress in your tummy. Milk products are known for causing nausea with motion in some people too so maybe avoid your shakes or any dairy you are eating before driving. As @GreenTealael suggested ginger can help - drink ginger tea, try ginger tablets. Or ask for a script for anti nausea meds to take on your trip.

    Anti-Inflammation medication?

Wisdom teeth pain is terrible. Keep ringing your team. I have a sleeve and my surgeon allowed me to have a NSAID occasionally (one at a time & not continuous days) from after my second year. But I believe the no NSAIDS rule is stricter for bypass & you’re only such a short time post surgery. You could always try a shot of vodka or scotch. I mean, shockingly now, they used to give teething babies a rum soaked cloth to suck until mid the last century. What about freezing a wet cloth & applying it to your gums or freezing fruit. Try googling natural baby teething remedies for other ideas. Your wisdom teeth coming through is really the same experience.

    Weight Stall

stalls are a normal part of weight loss. Most of us have our first one around the three week point (but it can happen at any time within the first six weeks or so). This is only your first among probably many. When you hit them, stay off the scale for a few days and make sure you're following your plan to a "T". If you do, the stall will eventually break and you'll be on your way again. Stalls typically last 1-3 weeks.

    Any April Surgery Dates?

To all of you on your pre-op diet, great job so far and hang in there. I was you 2 weeks ago (had my surgery on 4/6). It feels like forever now, while you are in it, but surgery will be here before you know it. The first few days are hard, but I’m now on day 8 and just finished a 3 mile walk, enjoying the warm night. Everything feels easier now, despite still being in the beginning of the healing stage. Good luck to you all.

It's awful when your life seems to move from one problem to the next. I hope this is your last and you can turn the corner to a bright future, and a bright day. Good luck with your surgery.

I am a little over 3 months post-op. I have lost close to 60 pounds now. I would like to lose another 20 pounds, and am on track to do that. I sometimes worry that I will lose too much but I know I'm just being ridiculous. 😂 I feel good even though I am still having issues meeting protein and fluid goals. I think I am going to go back to having protein soups for lunch to help with that. I've been trying to up my calories but having a hard time going much over 600-700 a day. I have tried all kinds of meat and veggies at this point and have only had issues with some chicken thighs one time, when I ate too much, too fast and got the foamies. All of my rings, shoes, and clothes are too big. It is expensive to lose weight. Today, I had someone not recognize me, which was wild.
