You won’t stretch your tummy. It takes a prolonged length of time eating excessive volumes of food to do that (think how long you were working on stretching your tummy before surgery). What you may do at this stage is stress or strain your healing tummy & delay your recovery. Though some do continue to feel hunger after surgery it is not common as most/all of the section of your tummy that produces the hunger hormone is removed. You could be experiencing head hunger - eating for comfort after the stress of the surgery, etc., eating out of habit, craving a texture, food or flavour, etc. At the moment your body is still producing the amount of stomach acid you needed to digest larger volumes of food in your old larger tummy & in reaction to the surgery. Stomach acid can make you think your hungry (hunger pangs). A PPI will reduce the amount of acid in your tummy (via a prescription or over the counter like Pepcid or similar). Also a growling rumbling tummy is usually a sign not of hunger but of your body digesting food. The stretch you felt possibly was just a muscle spasm (your tummy is a muscle). Usually we aren’t able to eat pudding until we’re on the purée stage about two weeks post surgery & after the liquid only stage. Plans can be very different but check to ensure you can have it. When eating purées, like pudding, I was a teaspoon dipper so only putting food on the tip of the spoon. That way I stretched out the time it took it eat the portion to more like 30minutes & was much like the 5 minutes between sips advice. Also this is when I started, what is still a habit, of asking myself if I really need the next bite or just want it. Listen to your body & go slowly.

    Gas pain recommendations!

I had my VSG Wednesday. All in all I am feeling pretty good, definitely more exhausted than I expected. One thing I am struggling with is the gas pains, I am walking a lot and have tried warm showers and heating pads, I have even tried massaging my tummy as much as I could but I am struggling to burp ..every time I try to burp it feels like esophagus spasms causing a lot of pain...anyone experience this and have and recommendations??

not a weird non-scale victory but a huge non-scale victory nonetheless i fit in airplane seats :D i’ve been STRESSING about this upcoming trip cuz i couldn’t afford first class seats or to buy the seat next to me and ive never fit in plane seats before. i kept googling ‘can size 16 fit in plane seats’ and i measured the seat width on my couch and sat between two boxes of the seat width but none of that eased my extreme anxiety that i wouldn’t fit in the seat. :( but i fit :D and i didn’t even need a seatbelt extender - another first! i’m on the plane right now flying over southern oregon and i’m so endlessly relieved that the only thing i was worried about was completely a nonissue 😊❤️

4 Days Post Op Gastric Sleeve!

On the 3rd of April i was scheduled for my gastric sleeve. That went great. i woke up with tons of pain all in my shoulder and belly. I had a extremely hard time drinking water but day 4 and it’s been much easier for me to get down the clear liquid broth that my mum made for me. It was really hard for me the first couple of days as i felt extremely nauseous and suffer with ‘Emetophobia’ so as you can imagine this has been a very hard experience none the less. I was in hospital for 2 days and was sipping on my fluids enough to be sent home which was great as the hospital was very great, welcoming and attentive i just became really home sick the third morning i was there so glad they discharged me that day. I am currently taking laxative for number 2, paracetamol for baseline pain and acid reflux medication i forgot the name but i’ll make another post maybe later on ever medication i’m taking. My 5 incisions are feeling a little sore but nothing i can’t handle but they are getting particularly itchy. I have been taking powerade zero sugar, gatorade zero sugar and Sustagen for protein in the morning my stomach has been able to tolerate that well so i’ve been enjoying that. for lunch i had a beef that was boiled in fresh coriander and yummy potatoes. (the broth was strained) hahaha. right now just focusing to up my fluid intake as much as possible as i don’t want to be dehydrated and follow my surgeons instructions with the broth and protein milk which has been going good. 4th day has been amazing for me. I was super emotional the first 3 days but today has been great for me. I’ve lost 5KG which is great pre op i lost 3KG and post op i’ve lost 2KG. Any tips or tricks or suggestions from fellow sleevers please comment below i’d really appreciate the advice. Any post op sleevers the same time as me please leave a comment i’d love to see how you guys are coping. Stay safe xx
