    New Future Begins Tomorrow

Well, the long awaited day is tomorrow! I am having gastric bypass and hernia repair on 3/29. Thanks to this forum and all the wonderful people here, I feel mostly ready and know what to expect. Still scared of course, but ready. I will be back with an update...and probably lots of questions! Lol Take care, all!

I just got a call from my surgeon's Nurse. The issue that postponed my surgery with the autoimmune treatment has been cleared up, I have my original 4/12 surgery date back. So I will enjoy some chicken wings tonight & tomorrow starts the liquid pre-op diet!

Hello I have been referred by my pcp for weight loss surgery. I have a consultation with the surgeoun in about 2 weeks. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with wait times and requirements dealing with California Medi-cal specifically Alameda alliance for health. Thank you

    What's Normal!?

After 10 days post OP I went from liquids to puree. Liquids: shakes, sugar free or fat free versions of pudding, Jello, popsicles, Soup broth, gatorade, yogurt, milk. Puree: eggs, melted cheese or string cheese, mashed potatoes, bananas, peanut butter, applesauce, lean ground meats like turkey, and cooked carrots. Cheese and potatoes are not foods you want to plan to eat everyday in your future diet plan. The Puree stage is short so I had one string cheese stick everyday. I only had mashed potatoes once.

    nutritional yeast

I like nutritional yeast because it makes salad taste like bread. Try mixing it in a vinaigrette, or sprinkle it anywhere you would Parmesan. It is low volume protein. 2 tablespoons gives you 6g ish. Also, it is my understanding that it is grown on molasses, which is high in iron. The yeast breaks down much of it to a very mild and digestible form. I hope this is true... Bragg's brand is at most supermarkets, but you can find it much cheaper at a health food store that sells bulk items. I love the stuff.
