I was honest with other obese people. With non-obese people, unless they were a close friend, I just told them I'd been working with a dietitian and exercising like a fiend (which technically was true - I just omitted the surgery part). Skinny people usually believe that schlock.

I have the same pain on left side of my belly button, it hurts real bad to do any sort of moving, sitting down to use the bathroom is killer. I am 3 weeks post op and didn’t expect to be in this much pain for this long. I was sleeved on 1/25

This makes me second guess my decision. Is this common? I don’t want to make a mistake. Anxiety issues are absolutely terrible and I hope you have found something that works

Takes time. Consultation and then booking your procedure out. Def don’t book with a surgeon who can get you in that quickly. Most good ones are busy.

4 day Post opt. July 7th. My original date was supposed to be June 22 but my father pasted away on the 18th of June and I had to post pone my surgery for an additional two weeks. I ate up to the last day and stopped just to make sure I had room for those two drinks I had to do on top of drinking two bottles of Magnesium so I cam flush out my system right away. I am allergic to anesthesia so when they gave it to me they also gave me a Steroid. My surgery was at 8am and I was up by 11:30am. Tons of heart burn from steroid but the hospital took care of that right away. They feed me pain killer through my IV which made me have the best sleep ever. Fast forward four days now and I have alreadyost 16lbs, have a lot more energy and sticking to my diet plan. I am so ready for food but I know that will have to wait until my check up next week. Only thing that sucks is wearing long dresses. I am not a dress girl, I like my jeans but my Stitches have to heal. I am happy that I decided to do this.

So my surgery was originally July 6th, but it got moved to the 14th. I am on Day 2 of the pre op diet. Pray for me. 😂

Nothing wrong with looking forward to the future. However, as we all know, there will be some tough, trying days ahead, and regrets and confusion. Use this time as a time to reflect on the choices and changes you'll be making in the next few months. Then, use the possibility of plastic surgery as a motivator to put in the hard work following your surgery. You got this!

many surgeons recommend you wait a year after hitting your goal weight to be sure your weight is stable. A 10 to 20 lb gain after you hit your lowest weight is unfortunately VERY common - it usually occurs during year 3. And a gain of more than 10 or 15 lbs can affect your surgery results. some insurance companies don't cover plastic surgery at all (mine did not). Some will cover it if you have some medical issue with it that doesn't respond to traditional treatment - like a chronic rash. So if you have those kinds of issues, see a doctor because you'll need the documentation to submit to the insurance company. I had my surgery with Lawrence Zachary, who's on the faculty at the Univ of Chicago - but he does his self-pay surgeries at Weiss on the north side. He specializes in plastic surgery for massive weight loss patients and is nationally known, so he is pricey. Dave Shifrin (in the Loop) doesn't specialize in it, but he's done a TON of PS for massive weight loss patients and is also nationally known (and also pretty pricey). I had a consult with him as well. I also had a consult with Daniel Krochmal. Not well-known nationally although he had some pretty impressive fellowships (he's younger with not as many years under his belt) - I liked him as well but decided to go with Zachary due to his reputation and many years of experience. there are lots of surgeons in Chicago - so set up 3-5 consults as you may get different ideas from different surgeons.
